Let me tell you something! My father went to the hospital for a knee problem. He had a great memory always pleasant to talk too. They gave him "Dilaudid" and we could not recognize him , he was completely lost ,he was thinking we were 25 years ago on the farm... I said to the Dr they have to stop this pain medication, he said no your father has dementia. I had to fight to remove it. After he stop he became completely normal again🙏. Some Dr think they know everything 👎👎👺👎👎👎

Dr Paul Mason is one in a million ! In response to your shocking experience … IMO : Doctors will have their licence (livelihood) taken if they refuse to toe the Big Pharma line* which is … write prescription after prescription and do not question EVER .. even if your patient is destroyed or dies. Moral of the Story : KEEP AWAY FROM DOCTORS and even more - KEEP AWAY from HOSPITALS * personal experience.

My mother also lost her mind when given pain killer( lyrica) for shingles and tramadol for a hip issues. Later seroquel, which she was given for anxiety, caused a total break with reality. On all occasions I also was told that she suddenly manifested dementia. When the drugs were removed she slowly came back to reality. We need to monitor what drugs American doctors are giving to our elderly population and don’t always accept the standard diagnosis of dementia.

Similar experience here with my Mum. She was so bad that she kept repeating the same thing over and over every ten minutes. Forward to now, after I removed her and cared for her myself, she is back to normal function (aged 74)

I was sitting next to my wife’s grandma who has Alzheimer’s. She was fairly alert and responsive to our conversations. My mother-in-law gave her a Pepsi to drink and by the time grandma finished about a quarter of the drink, she became completely unresponsive and sat quietly with no expression on her face. I observed this but no one else did and I didn’t dare say anything because they wouldn’t have been agreeable to my observation. I still believe her condition could have been improved or even reversed with proper diet.

My father was diagnosed with Dementia with Lewy bodies, he lived with it for 7/8 years before he died. He was a vegetarian for 30 years, ate low fat (he was told to as he had heart disease triple bypass at aged 60), he was always slim but he ate high carb/high sugar his whole life. He also took statins. I believe that this lifestyle led to his dementia. His brother died from a similar dementia. I have been keto for 15 months and will eat this way for the rest of my life. Dementia is a terrible disease, for the last two years of his life, my Dad didn't recognise me.

IMO NEVER EVER take statins 1. The brain is made up of a high % of cholesterol which needs to be replaced on an ongoing basis . This chol ismadein the liver👈🏿 2. Chol is also necessary for not only rebuilding brain matter regularly, but hormones, the integrity of your muscles and other things as well. Did your doctor tell you this? I hope he did. btw The sale of Statins Is a Trillion $$ income for the medical industry (Big Pharma) 3. Statin drugs work by preventing the natural production of chol in the liver ! (This has nothing to do with ingested chol from food) 4. Statins cause irreversible muscle destruction. They are given to protect your heart … wait for it … the heart IS a muscle. What ! 5. Statin drugs interfere with the production of coQ10 which is necessary for muscle function. (Statin drug users often develop pain in the legs progressing to an inability to walk … hence you end up using a walking frame (notice how ubiquitous they are now) Do you know a doctor who makes sure you take CoQ10 if you are put on statins ? ----- someone known to me was on statins for 5 years. he fell into a coma and his daughter said that he had ALL the symptoms of statin drug poisoning. he was unable to move a muscle, he had “dementia”. He died. An autopsy was performed and they found (among other things) that his brain had dissolved and “was in shards”. Obviously because the chol was prevented from being produced in the liver to rebuild his brain. Ano gentleman had been on statins and could now not walk without 2walking sticks. He visited a specialist. When he entered the room on his walking frame …the specialist said “You are taking cholest lowering drugs, aren’t you?” surgery. The

I started keto 4 years ago. Started OMAD 1 year ago and since January 2021 I don’t eat anything at all on Wednesdays. My mom is 91 and getting progressively worse from some form of dementia. Her dad, my grandfather and her sister passed away from Alzheimer’s. On my dad’s side of the family the heart is the big problems. Mind and heart are my motivators....I am in my late sixties, wish I would have started much earlier...hope it’s not too late. Hopefully if I do have the Alzheimer’s genes my healthy living will slow this terrible disease down.

I am so glad for the keto/carnivore diet. 25 years of vegetarianism/veganism almost destroyed my brain, my cognition, my memory. Thank you Dr. Mason for another compelling presentation. What this presentation so expertly proves is that with every passing day, as honest researchers and physicians start to look at the accumulating body of data, that diet and lifestyle is far more important than medical interventions when it comes to both the prevention and treatment of most physical disorders. The point Dr. Mason makes, near the end of his presentation, of how researchers DELIBERATELY hid results that were unfavorable to their biases towards low fat/high vegetable oil diets was particularly disturbing. Its instances of this sort of scientific dishonesty and malpractice that demonstrate the need for more investigative journalists to have oversight over the research community. That is why people like Gary Taubes and Nina Teicholz are so important. We can no longer adhere to the naïve hope that our scientific community is somehow magically objective and immune to dishonest acts. In both politics and in business reporting, we expect our journalists to hold those in power to account when they mislead the public, and we excoriate the media when they fail to do this. Similarly, we should expect our science journalists to be just as skeptical of the findings of the research community, and not simply act as blind stenographers who repeat whatever the research community tells us as if it were an infallible truth.

She daš not demented, but third vascular incident in brain was last one, she died in koma after few months. I'm now 61+, had also a high blood pressure for 40yrs and severe diabetes type 2 since 26 July 2017 with 630 mg/dl blood sugar at that day and with blindness for 21 days very so on after starting metformin. But then with home made mediterranean food and esoecially Intermittent fasting since 23 Oct 2019 completely reverse insulin resistance. Need no medication for diabetes, reduced weight from 127kg to 95kg, medication for high BP reduced to only 25% of former daily dose. All my mentioned relatives and me were misleaded with lies of harm of fat and with complete silence about main poison: industrial sugar and other aditives in processed food and fake food with no nutrients. As insulin resistance make diabetes, also is a main cause for high blood pressure! If we knewed it before, my aunt and father could be still alive! Wall, there left >10yrs to my 71st birthday. I hope to be healthy, maybe even in better condition than today, doing intermittent fasting 16-23hrs daily. Greetings from Slovenia to all of You, wishing a good health and thanks.

Autism is a growing condition, just like the conditions we are all trying to help reduce and they all seem to be related....overweight/obese...then diabetes then Alzheimer's and yes...autism....these children born to mothers with diabetes or are insulin resistant, probably pass that to their fetuses through the same blood supply....? Does that make sense to anyone but me? I am just really blown away with this information. J&S Electronics through the blood. The liver converts fat to glucose if you aren’t eating glucose/sugar.

@@jselectronics8215 I think it's mostly metabolized in the liver, but not exclusively. I could be wrong, but I seem to recall a portion being metabolized in the gut.

The brain prefers ketones for energy. If given the choice between glucose and ketones, the brain will function better and choose ketones.

Caution. The brain is made of very different cells, neurons but also astrocytes and gliacells... Some must have glucose, others not (i guess the reason is that they are fermenting). But the liver can supply this glucose.. so no problem.

If you look at all his videos you will see he touches on it. He said he eats when he is hungry. A low carb or keto diet decreases hunger so you can easily go longer without eating.

I mean if you eat primarily animal based and low-zero carb you will naturally gravitate towards 'intermittent fasting'. Its not even really a real thing. Long term fasting would be more interesting to see a deep dive into. I've tried a 2 day fast but just haven't been sold on giving fasting a proper shot. Maybe when I'm more well adjusted to the diet.

a Wonderful overview !. I was interested in your comments alluding to L-carnatine 26:04 supplementation. I have been experimenting w/ Low dose Li oratate which in addition to promoting neuro plasticity might have an Affect on heart health [see older literature on B13]. One hypothesis has been the neuron potential variance is reduced since Li ions remain where Na ions are discharged after reuptake. I suspect it is deterioration of BBB that is more primary in the progression of this disease than just brain shrinkage and (or) amyloid depositions.

Thank you very much for the information. Wouldn't this be worth a nutritional study, in a retirement home specializing in dementia? I wonder if for initialization a dietary supplement with ketone salts or ketone esters as external ketone source could be beneficial. As an argument to get into low carb or keto diet.

I find a ketone meter to be more useful. If you are producing ketones for even a small part of each day it is pretty sure that your basal insulin levels are physiologically appropriate. Blood sugar fluctuations are certainly a good thing to measure for diabetics, but insulin is more important. One of the biggest errors in diabetes management is using insulin to control blood sugar. In reality we should be using glucose to control insulin. Type 1 diabetics will eventually develop Type 2 diabetes even with "good" blood sugar levels if they overuse insulin. Insulin pumps will make this even more common especially if the pump doesn't have appropriate alarms for excessive insulin dispensation. You manage what you measure. If insulin is the problem, measuring glucose may not give you successful treatment.

Keto is great, however if you want to go full bore; look at carnivore. I did, the change to mind and body were almost magical. Also, the rush to cut cholesterol with diet and statins, is the most likely cause of the explosion of dementia and parkinsons, as well as other neurological issues. Statins degrade the coating on nerve fibre, cascading to the issues we have in excess today.

Both my mother and grandmother had dementia. They both ate what we would call palio diets. No fast foods, everything fresh and cooked themselves. Doctors are saying that we should stop eating foods high in fructose. That means stop eating fruit as about 10% is fructose. We should stop eating unsaturated fats, after telling us that saturated fats were bad for us . What fad will they come up with next? As a nutritionist I would advocate eating a bit of everything. Not too much of anything - processed foods / takeaways/ etc. If you want to loose weight eat less. There were no fat people in Belsen as they say. People are making a living out of dietary nonsense. I don't honestly believe that we have a clue what causes dementia (except if you have the gene) . However being overweight , smoking and drinking too much alcohol has proven health implications. We are living longer and so are more likely to get dementia. The most important factor in life is being happy. Stop worrying about what might be and get on living.
