how fascinating that Jordan has organically connected the necessity of believing in God to obeying Him perfectly. Yes, there is an objective truth. No, we do not uphold that perfectly. We all fall short. He fully understands what the reality of there being a God means-that there is a standard. But to not hit that standard doesn’t mean you don’t believe.

Believing is obeying though. God is is creator and redeemer, and as both of those roles he has moral authority over us. To say “we won’t be perfect” so we aren’t hitting the standard of obedience isn’t logical, because God knows the ones trying to walk in obedience and the once making excuses for not even trying.
@PianoMyHeart
@PianoMyHeart 11 месяцев назад
@@iBMcFly Agreed, but Jordan here (I would argue) is conflating belief with obedience. You believe in God? Then you must be perfect! Because naturally you would act within God’s will. That’s my one hang-up with Jordan’s aversion to the original question, “Do you believe in God?” because it still feels like he’s avoiding the question. Yes, you believe, but no you’re not perfect. He doesn’t seem to think that both can be true.

If I could say one thing to Dr Peterson it would be this: Take heart, and continue to pursue Him as He pursues you. He will never force you into His presence because he loves you that much. And I actively pray for you, Dr Peterson (though I have the sneaking suspicion that I am far from the only one) My Hope is that you begin to see the sacrifice of Christ as an unwarranted, utterly undeserved gift that we NEVER achieve worthiness of by way of our own actions, regardless of how ethical or moral we believe them to be. Finally, I would tell you that you now find yourself in the very spot where C.S. Lewis once stood, trying to square the circle of what you have known philosophically, and the idea that a God could love you enough to forgive you, not only for what you have done.. but all that you might do. And all He asks is that you believe in His sacrifice by accepting His gift and then try as best you can (knowing you WILL fail often) to be that person you see as being worthy of even claiming belief in the first place.

I think that the main reason Jordan Peterson is saying this is because he know or he sees that there are a lot if people who say they believe but they don’t act it out. Sometimes you can’t even tell people apart from who believes and who doesn’t. Believing in God and his word is such a powerful responsibility or burden to handle, to act out what you’re called to do.

This is such a huge debate in christian circles but while you are expected to do your best, the bible goes on and on about how God's standard is *perfect* obedience, and that *no one* can do that. That is the very reason we need Christ and his sacrifice for us. Far too many people are self righteous and think they can earn it. That's the problem.

I genuinely believe that honesty is always the best policy while still struggling to be 100% honest. Or, an analogy that hits closer to home, I wholeheartedly believe that my physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional health and well being would be dramatically improved by following the principles exactly as they are laid out by my favorite doctor's diet, but I struggle every single day to stick to those principles. While faith should drive actions, wrestling with our actions and obedience is not only natural but inevitable, especially when it comes to perfecting an ideal in imperfect flesh, which is why God named His own people Israel, meaning to wrestle with God. And yet to give up on belief entirely is to give up on salvation entirely. “Let us weigh the gain and the loss in wagering that God is. Let us estimate these two chances. If you gain, you gain all; if you lose, you lose nothing. Wager, then, without hesitation that He is.” -Blaise Pascal

Brilliant! To take the stirrings of the soul & to make them sing & stand tall such that they mirror our own. That is probably the most comprehensive public colloquial answer I have yet seen to that question; a question that is taken by so many as solid when it is rather tricky. I love that he doesn’t collapse the question into its most expedient pathway. That he is comfortable scattering in a organised manner into multiple pathways to address the question. To summarise for myself & perhaps others he wonderfully gives us 4 options. Answer 1: The Privacy Answer 1) None of your Damn Business Answer 2: The Reframing Answer 1) That depends on what you mean by Believe - And although he didn’t say it explicitly I am guessing the same kind of reframing would apply to the concept of God. Given it can mean so many things to so many different people, secular or religious. Answer 3: The Comical Answer 1) I’m Afraid that he might exist Answer 4: The Suppositional Answer Suppose that you do What are you called upon What are you called upon (Christian) What are you called upon (Christian: Declarative & Embodied) 0) Act out (Spark of) Divinity 1) Logos 2) Sacrifices 3) Arc in Order 4) Burden of Being 5) The Garden 6) The Golden Rule I thought his distinction between acting out & saying or what I would say embodied and declarative was brilliant. Furthermore the Suppositional answer despite having heavy Christian connotations further brilliance & speaks to his understanding of The Bible in a Psychological Context. Often when I am asked this question I tend to answer with a variant of Answer 2. It is good to have some other tools in the toolbox!

@@johnbreitmeier3268 The one important question is not "Does God exist?". It's not even a proper question, that's why he's struggling with it. Here's an allegory: Kid wants to buy some ice cream: "Do you have my favourite type?" "What is your favourite type?" "You're avoiding my question." Christian walks right up to me: "Do you believe in God?" "Please specify." "You're avoiding my question." Most Christians never ask themselves why they believe. @@ELMQ Your very bad allegory shows that you are a very chaotic thinker. You don't show at all why you think "Does God exist ?" is an improper question. THEN you tell an allegory that has zero relevance to that question. The proper analogy would be the atheist/skeptic who. like you, goes up to an ice cream stand and shouts loudly that ice cream does not exist while a whole line of customers are walking out with ice cream cones. So the first and most fundamental question IS do you believe in the existence of at least some sort of god or gods (or ice cream) before we begin to have a discussion. There is no point having a discussion about "flavors", tiny child, if you don't think there is such a thing as ice cream. It is a very different discussion with very different proofs and 99% of sane people do not even need to have that discussion. If you are one of the crazy minority, it is on you to make that clear rather than wasting the time of the 99% of us that are discussing flavors. If someone asks you the first question, they are just asking are you a foolish atheist. IF you are not and want to move on to the what "flavor" discussion, just say so. See that was not so hard, little ignorant one.

He often puts words to things that I personally fail to articulate well. I must say, however, regarding the misquote at 9:15 and forward... Jesus did not refuse to be called "good." He was addressed by the man as "good teacher," and Jesus responded with, "why do you call me good? There is no one good but God." He was drawing attention to that word because the correlation here was accurate--Jesus is good because Jesus is God. Jesus was not unwilling, He never once denied His divinity.

Mark 16:19 If Jesus was GOD, then why in John 5:31 Jesus told his followers that if he (Jesus) bears witness of himself, then his record is not true? If Jesus was GOD, then why in John 5:30 Jesus told his followers that he can't do a single thing of his own initiative? John 5:30 " I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, Ijudge: and my judgment is just; because l seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me." If Jesus was GOD, then why in John 5:36-38 Jesus said that GOD had assigned him (Jesus) work and GOD is a witness on Jesus? If Jesus was GOD, then why in John 5:37 Jesus told his followers that they have never seen GOD at anytime nor ever heard his voice? John 5:37 " And the Father himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape" If Jesus was GOD, then why did he pray to his GOD in Luke 5:16? Luke 5:16 "And he withdrew himself into the wilderness, and prayed." If Jesus was GOD, then why in Matthew 26:39 Jesus fel on his face and prayed to his GOD? Matthew 26:39 "And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt. If Jesus was GOD, then how come in Hebrew 5:7 he prayed and cried for GOD to hear him and give him mercy by saving him from death? If Jesus was GOD, then how come in John 1:18 he said "No one has ever seen God, but God the One and Only, who is at the FATHER'S side, has made HIM known." Where do you see Trinity in this Verse? If Jesus was GOD, then how come in John 5:37 he said "And the FATHER who sent me has himself testified concerning me. You have never heard HIS voice nor seen HIS form," Jesus and the GOD are different. People heard Jesus, but never heard GOD. If Jesus was GOD, then why in John 17:3 he said " And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent." John 17:3 (Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.) If Jesus was GOD, then why in John 8:40 he said " But now ye seek to kill me, a man that hath told you the truth, which I have heard of God: this did not Abraham." If Jesus was GOD, then why in Numbers 23:19 he said (GOD is not a man neither the Son of man) " God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?" If Jesus was GOD, then why in John 17:25 he said ( and these have known that thou hast sent me.) "O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me" If Jesus was GOD, then why in Matthew 15:24 he said “ But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.” Is the lord sends another god or messenger to guide people?

What an amazing fear of the Lord mr Jordan has. It cannot get any more serious and responsible than that. He searched and he understood the magnitude of God. And his doubts I understand so well. I was there once. God knows very well that even if we aim to do everything perfectly we can't reach it. But in His magnitude He came up with a solution. His love for us is so big that He wants us to reach this perfection, so in essence He want us to reach Him. That is why He gave His only Son, Jesus, that whoever believes in Him should not die, but have eternal life. In other words, be able to reach Him and spend the rest of eternity with Him. Jesus closes this gap that exists between God and us. We do us as best as we can, and Jesus, the intercessor, Son of God, God Himself, is there to do the rest. Imagine you are on your way to God, driving the highway to heaven, but your car broke down, so God sent His Son to pick you up xD It's that easy.

Ephesians 2:8 - For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God. Not of works, lest any man should boast. Works based salvation is absolutely incorrect. We cannot bribe the Judge. Grace through faith was there all along in the scripture. Christ did all the work on the cross. Sin paid in full. Believe and receive His saving grace and mercy. Unfortunately Jordan like so many are still stuck in a works based theology where moral deeds must outweigh immoral deeds in order for God to provide salvation from damnation.

Interesting video, it's encouraging to see Jordan wrestling and articulating with these issues because there aren't more important issues to think about, there are a few things he says about the bible that aren't technically accurate but one thing he says though that I feel can be dangerous to anyone watching that isn't much of a biblical scholar is around 9:05 when he is describing the Rich Young Man interaction with Christ as recorded in Mark 10:18 and Luke 18:19 is that 1. The question that the Young man asks is not "how can I be a good person?" but rather "what must I do to inherit eternal life?" Which is an important distinction to be made. 2.) Christ's response is not "Don't call me good" as Peterson takes to be him not claiming divinity but distancing himself from it. But rather "why do you call me good? Nobody is Good but God alone" it is an important distinction because Jesus is essentially Catechising the Man with that response (which is how most great teachers will teach) be forcing him to challenge his preconceptions about Morality and essentially put him in a position where he either, A. Admits that Jesus is Divine, or B. Rejects Jesus' Divinity due to a lack of faith on the basis that people are Made Righteous by their works (which was the prevailing sentiment among the Jewish Pharisees at the time and still relevant in the world today), Jesus then challenges the "Works-based" Morality standpoint by quoting the Law of Moses as outlined in Deuteronomy 5, essentially saying if anyone would claim to be "Good" they must adhere perfectly to the entire Law (an obvious impossibility for anyone that has enough humility to recognize that it is an impossible standard (like Jordan points out earlier when he is discussing the implication of the question) but despite that the rich young ruler doesn't have the humility to recognize or admit to his own shortcomings and claims to have kept the law "since his youth" (essentially claiming to be a "good" person himself) to which Christ then challenges him to sell his possessions and give to the poor, hitting him where it would hurt the hardest and the reason the ruler goes away sad because "he had a great many possesions" ultimately prompting Christ to explain to the Disciples the famous statement that it is "Easier for a Camel to entire through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to entire the kingdom of heaven". "For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world, and forefeit his soul." Long response I know but I felt it might be worth the clarification to anyone else struggling with the issues that Jordan describes here.
@Slippard101
@Slippard101 10 месяцев назад
I know it's a bit tacky to reply to your own comment but felt the need to expound on Christ's response a bit and why it is significant. Essentially since we live in a fallen world that tends to stray toward "Moral Relativism." If anyone would claim to be a "good person" as I have heard many people claim to be in my own life, they can always be "better" or more good. Which is what Jesus is also addressing here in that particular passage. We might like to think of ourselves as "Good" people relative to someone else because we do more "good" things, or we don't do as many "bad" things but there is such a thing as absolute Morality and relative to God's goodness we are not good at all and could never claim to be. Hence why recognition for the need of a perfect sacrifice or savior can only come through a conviction (from the Holy Spirit) of our own sinful shortfall. "For all have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God." Romans 3:23

Thank you! I love the high level of thought that goes into your responses, and the honest articulation. Just a thought: When one commits to 'knowing' God truly, that means in action, speech, and thought - in public and behind closed doors. It is fully understood that humans slip up from time to time - as God created our nature. However, when one's slip-ups become repetitive over a substantial duration, OR when they involve the abuse / manipulation of other individuals, you should realize that your flaw is foundational - and you should really do some repentance before you utter another prayer / show yourself to be a big believer in God to others.

Non sense, a lot of to say few. Believe and thrust humanity instead of imagination. There isn't a reason to support any type of religion. You only have to look at the past and today's hypocrisy to see that it may bring morals, but can we talk about all the blood and catastrophe any religion made ? oh but it did more good than bad ? and it wasn't us at that time, no you support something that did those horrible things, you believe in what others said but it can't be proven, but morals can be teach outside of religions. Believers forsake peoples, they are hypocrite, they think they are good, when every actions they make are selfish and egoistic. Because when you make a action that make others happy, you do it because it make you happy. So you only do it cause it make you happy. The good is in the bad and the bad in the good. I said to myself if they only knew they didn't need that to connect to Jesus. Short of it is for 3 solid years you've been more vocal about God until you got really sick. That too i believe had an affect in the lord working on you. Because only he can make something happen that really convinces anybody. For a lack of a better way to explain it. But the seeds were being water the entire time and it was amazing to watch and sometimes it was nail-biting and on the edge of the seat 🙏 to God somehow someway tp make you see and accept the water given to you to drink. We all lead you to the water but it was you that had to form that relationship with God yourself and ask him to come onto you and your heart. I see the difference. More and more when you would really get into it with your guests. But then something changed. At which poiint i said to a friend Jesus is working on Peterson. We actually had a chuckle then prayed for your salvation and that you would one day truly accept Jesus as your lord and savior. ❤

Jordan consistently fails to understand that believing in God doesn’t eliminate those of our appetites that are disordered. Real Christian’s believe but struggle to overcome sin every day. Sometimes we succeed and other times we fail. This is precisely why we understand ourselves as entirely dependent on the grace of God. Brother, the only necessary qualification for believing in God is being a sinner. "Not having the right" to approach him or the ability to please him is precisely the reason you NEED to believe in him! Belief is you saying - God, I'm not enough, and I'll never be: save me. Don't let the scandal of the cross become a stumbling block to you, precious brother - humble yourself before your Maker and Savior; throw yourself on his mercy. He will not fail to catch you, and in due time lift you up.

Being a Christian is not something that one would keep private if he realises what a great miracle had happened in his heart. A born-again Christian is an earthen vessel carrying a power that's too great for him/her to carry it by himself/herself. That's why we need the Holy Spirit to lead us and guide us to keep us humble and from going astray from the Lord. It's also the word that does the changing and renewing of our minds, just like Hebrews 4 vs 12-13 reads: "For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account." I wish you lots of blessings in your growth as a Christian and that you may find grace in how to give God all the glory by the influencing of the society all over the world with the wonderful talents and gifts that He bestowed on to you! 💛🙏

basically, he's saying 'you shouldn't be allowed to say you believe in god using words, if this belief isn't consciously reflected in all the actions you take in your life'. most people throw the 'yeah i believe in god' too easily around, without actually having a behaviour that reflects that in their life. this is a great lesson for hypocritical religious people but I think that people who really need to understand this, won't understand it. to me it seems that his language is way too complicated for those people, and the people who do understand this idea are probably sophisticated enough to not throw it around like that. i'm not religious at all anymore but I grew up in such a family. they too suffered from this 'disease' jordan talks about. i do however believe someone can be in service of society (that's really what religion is all about anyway, the rest has absolutely no proof/logical grounds in reality) without the belief in god but they need to believe humans are a net good (or could be, if instructed properly).

This is actually a beautiful moment where Christ comes in, for what he is experiencing is a true dilemma. It's true that none of us are perfect and none of us possess the right (as he says it) to say that their whole being (word, mind, action) is attuned to true belief in God. We all fall so drastically short to the point that we should wonder why we haven't been struck down. Yet this is why Christ came; to be struck in our place and offer us the favor of God at his own expense. So our belief is now the acknowledgment that we have failed and continue to fail, but that he was perfect, died in our place, and arose in glory. It is nothing about what we have done; it is all what he has done. We are not even saved by our belief (which, as had been pointed out, is never perfect), but we are saved by him who prayed on the cross "Forgive them, for they know not what they do." My children disobey me often, yet I still encourage them to tell me and their mother that they love us. They don't love us perfectly (if they did, they would always obey), but we take that lack in them onto ourselves because we love THEM. The key, then, is this: God's love for us, not our love (true belief) for him. I recommend studying Martin Luther, for he went through this same turmoil before he looked to Christ.

@struggle29 Good day, Muslim brother. I don't think it refutes that Jesus is God. Because Jesus never said "I'm not good". And if you read the Bible, He didn't even say "Don't call me good" like JP misquoted from the Bible. But what Jesus really said was: "Why are you calling me good? Because only God is good" So Jesus was provoking, making the man realize who He really is. In other words, the person was right to call Jesus good. But the reason for calling Jesus good would be wrong without acknowledging that Jesus is God. Because calling Jesus good must come with acknowledging that Jesus is God.

As a Muslim, Jordan is describing the difference between a "believer" and a "munafiq" (poorly mistranslated to 'hypocrite'). It's not uncommon that many Muslims hold the opinion that most of us, as Muslim believers, are in fact hypocrites, because belief resides in the heart and not in the brain. We can all *think* we believe, but we won't know what our hearts will reveal when we die. Thus the only three answers I can think of regarding the question, "Do you believe in God?" are: 1) I don't know. 2) I hope so. 3) I'll find out when I die.

Once you let yourself go and accept the Lord - become child like, as Jesus told us to be - these thoughts will vanish. I believe in God, but I am not perfect. Faaaar from it! But I do live in His mercy, thus I don't need to be perfect. In fact, I can't because I am a human being. I am sinful, but not a sinner. This is the core of what Jesus did. When He took our sins upon Him, we got freedom in return. We are free to be a believer even though we are not perfect. I've been a Christian all my life, but it is just recently (the last decade or so - I am now 45) that I have really gotten down deep in my faith; in my understanding of the mysteries in faith. And through that, I am slowly becoming a better person because I want to live my life like He wants me to. All of this time, I _know_ that when I die, He will welcome me into Paradise. Because I believe in God, that Jesus died and is risen - and I am here proclaiming just that. Therefore I have a claim in eternal life in Heaven, because Jesus said so. Look up "the man on the middle cross said I could come", a short RU-vid clip with Allistair Begg. That story tells everything there is to know about His mercy. People who is new to the faith, or are just starting to acknowledge their faith, are like babies. You don't serve a baby a platter of beef, veggies and gravy - the baby cannot process such food. In stead, we feed babies milk, then introduce solid food over time, then gradually the baby can digest "grown up food". And waaaay later in life, the baby learns to enjoy coffee. :D If you are new to the faith, don't expect to be able to handle steak just yet. It'll come, and maybe it will take a long time. But it'll come. I want to confirm something for you (and everybody like you), as a believer myself. Believe in God, and believe that all your sins are forgiven forever! Believe that you are a child of God and that you have His mercy. Just believe it, and become child like - let Jesus take the wheel while you take care of rowing, and your boat will find safe haven. Your life will be transformed through Him. Because there is nothing you yourself can do. That's what Jesus said in the verse about the camel and the eye of the needle. No acts will save you, only His Mercy. And that you shall have, now and forever! Amen! God bless you, my friend! :)

Jordan has a very good point! What you believe should indeed dictate your actions! We are however all flawed human beings, however the Christian has God's Holy Spirit living within them and therefore though their actions aren't perfect they ought to be and most of the time are in line with our beliefs because of the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives. Put plainly we aren't all we should be but neither are we what we used to be. It is also impossible to want God, to want true righteousness or to carry it out without God enabling you to do so according to the Scriptures. God gives His common grace to many but His effectual grace to few. The question "Do you believe in God" is indeed quite vague because Jesus points out that even the demons believe but they tremble even though they hate God and rebel against Him. James 2:19. The conclusion the Bible reaches and teaches is that faith without works (not the kind that are carried out in order to try and be righteous but the kind that proceed out of thankfulness for having been saved and made righteous through Christ with God) is dead. James 2:26.

Every time I listen to Dr. Peterson discuss God, I am reminded of Matthew 11:25: "At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes." In other words ... it's NOT complicated. The crucial question is not "Do you believe in God?", but rather, "Do you know God?". James, the brother of Jesus, wrote in James 2:19: “Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.” So then, what is the pre-eminent thing to KNOW about God? John, a disciple and witness to the living Christ writes in John 3:16: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” So then, how do we demonstrate our faith in Jesus? By believing his Word and keeping his commandments. That's not complicated either. When asked what the greatest commandment is by a religious scholar, Jesus responded in Matthew 22: 37-40: “Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets."

For we walk by faith, not by sight. Corinthians 5:7. Faith is the assurance of things hope for, the conviction of things not seen. Hebrew 11:1. “ I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one come to the Father, except through me. John 14:6 Doctor Peterson, I am fond of you to tell you this, God has always love you with an unending love before you are even conceived in your mother’s womb. One day, HE will meet you where you are and lift you up to HIS bosom and will never let you go doctor! I pray that your heart will find rest in HIM. I would love to one day meet you here in CA and give you the biggest hug for your honesty and truth! COME HOLY SPIRIT COME 3x, please bestow in Doctor Peterson mind, soul and heart the PERFECTION OF YOUR BEAUTIFUL LOVE and the GRACE TO EMBRACE THE PERGECT TRUTH IN YOU! IN CHRIST JESUS AMEN!

Very interesting. I would love to see a conversation about the gospel between Sean McDowell and Jordan Peterson… there’s so many great questions here that Sean could answer well.

I'm surprised with the number of positive comments. This just sounds like word salad to me from someone who refuses to answer a yes or no question. It's not hard to say yes or no, and then explain where he stands on his understanding of God. For example, someone saying, "Yes, I believe in God, as far as the universe having some intelligent designer. No, I have not come to conclude that Jesus is God, the God of Abraham is that creator, the God of Muhammad is that creator, but I'm open to learning."

The more I examine 'belief in God', I sense his total belief - and love for me. A matter of the eternal. His work in and for me.

when people think about god their brains give them dopamine (happy chemicals). The loving feeling you're feeling is just your brain giving you happy chemicals. The feeling is real even though the supernatural entity is imaginary.

9:30 No, He challenged the person asking - “if you’re calling Me good, and only God is good, then you must believe I am God” - that was the message in that verse Consult with the works of the Orthodox Fathers, I think this will enhance your understanding and interpretation. With your mind and intelligence you could gain a lot.

Yeah it could just be being a very open and spiritual person with regard to myself, but honestly there are some things we just don’t know and maybe never will, but nonetheless I think the principle he mentions of acting as if god were real is an incredibly powerful message that’s missing in todays western world predominantly. There’s just a depth to spirituality, be whatever religion you follow, that all enact a feeling or transcendence of some kind that I myself and everyone other human cannot explain but in a weird way makes so much sense inside. It could be evolutionary as a way of explaining the universe, but I think nonetheless the gratitude practise towards god(whatever it means) and mindfulness is an incredibly powerful thing for the world, morality wise speaking, and provided gods good, which I think in ways you can make arguments for and against to be fair, but the belief that gods real and good is the most powerful message and feeling at least for myself that I can elicit, and it’s power to make you do good and help others in the world is incredibly powerful. Also RFK jr mentions a quote by a famous philosopher or something rather and he recites that the way he came back from addiction or the best way to recover from addiction is to have a full spiritual transformation and the best way to do this is to act as if god were real from the present onwards as much as you can of course and within reason at least in my opinion for self care as well. Yeah, I love this dude, I only recently saw the other side more clearly, the possibility of god and honestly at least for people like RFK Jr, Jordan Peterson and many others how this practise of principle and belief is honestly in my opinion one of if not the most powerful practises you can benefit not only yourself but the most people in the world around you and everywhere.
@liamalex2798
@liamalex2798 8 месяцев назад
And RFK jr also said he acts as if god were real and almost let’s god guide him in a way, and it’s so interesting how since I’ve adopted this how it really feels that way.
@liamalex2798
@liamalex2798 8 месяцев назад
Just to add, the person RFK Jr was reciting was Carl Jung and his book synchronicity I believe, it’s fascinating. If you want to listen to it and haven’t when he (RFK Jr) talks about this it’s on the lex Fridman podcast in the god segment of it.
@liamalex2798
@liamalex2798 8 месяцев назад
Soz not sure if it’s synchronicity but nonetheless it was Carl Jung, I’m regurgitating/paraphrasing but he said the best way to a full spiritual transformation was to fake it till you make it, so pretend god was real and was watching and you have a series of tests which involve moral decision making, and you always try to make the good choice, and this is what has guided this legend to where he is now, I really hope the man’s elected president, I’m Australian so I have no vote but It would be to RFK jr and incredible, intelligent, empathic legendary individuals like Jordan Peterson, JFK, Bob Hawke, FDR and many others who you can just see have incredible minds and could make revolutionary changes to our institutions and practises with respect to our different cultures, countries etc

I love Jordan to death, and he is right to say that you must properly clarify a question before answering it. But at the same time, this is the definition of question dodging. If someone less wise and well-intentioned than Jordan were to do this, people would tear him apart.

I simply love this man in how he answers a question, He makes you think . But in reality folks ask this question just so that they feel comfortable within themselves . They want to put Jordon Peters in there backyard of thinking, as if they believe in God so perfectly. And they want to judge him on that alone. When people ask me if I believe in God , I ask; why do you need to know if I believe in God. Yeah sometimes i say Yes, and then a guy will cut me off in traffic, and that belief in God just went out the window. I'm so thankful that God is merciful, and can see that when we say that you believe in God, be careful because the rooster will crow three times before God proves you might just not. Peter walked with God and denied him. I love Jordon Peters because he is a critical thinker, and his belief in God is his business, not mind. Its the walk not the talk. RobertC
