My grandma died two years ago and part of her estate was hundreds of acres with water rights that she and my grandfather farmed their whole lives. About 30 miles from a military base. None of my uncles wanted to farm it anymore so they went to sell it. They found thst In the will it said if its sold it cannot go to china or a billionaire like Bill Gates. Love my grandma. Even in her 90s she was thinking about how bad it could get.

I live in South Dakota and our governor here has been on the news more than once stating she is passing laws keeping foreign countries from buying farmland. I know there are a couple of military bases here because I retired out of one.

Chinese corporations are buying up private housing as well. I sold my home several years ago when the market was hot and decided to rent until I could find what I was looking for. Several friends of mine did the same as we shared noted, we were all renting homes own by Chinese base companies. It's very scary and no one seems concerned.
We've built some pretty sad hardpack clay into good soil using sand, bio-char, and very large amounts of compost. We covered the entire thing with leaves and cardboard the first winter, and it's incredible how many worms we found in spring. Seems as if caring for what we have would be the only really viable thing to do, though an ideal environment, which is great for gardening. You can’t use machinery on it or scale it up, though. We need large community gardens or to turn our front lawns into gardens.

Is it possible this land is owned by Chinese Americans and not literally the government of China? If you look at where the biggest portion of land has been bought, that’s California. California has a HUGE Chinese American population. If that’s the case that doesn’t concern me really, because these specific families Im talking about have been here since the California Railroads Construction in the 1800s.
As a Oklahoma farmer/rancher this topic terrifies me the most. I know a lot of Chinese companies have bought up land here to grow cannabis. Its sickening I don't understand how another country can buy land it defeats the whole purpose of having a country.

I delivered to farms up here in Canada, the signs are all in Chinese, all the workers are Chinese temporary foreign workers. It’s tucked away in rural Ontario. So yes, it’s true.
In Australia the Chinese Nationalists own most of the large condominiums in the inner cities. Wonder where all that rent goes? I know for sure its not being taxed properly, worked with a chinese national and they saw taxes as a joke, often pirated software while in a corporate job and did under the table deals with his chinese comrades. Imagine my surprise when he bought 40 DDR4 compatible boards with CPUs to upgrade one of the office teams, but he got them at 50% cost from market rate, as in I had to pay 50% more if I bought it over the counter as a non chinese friend.

It’s not just farm land they are buying.. I’ve noticed in my residential neighborhoods in Texas that Chinese companies are buying up all the houses that are being sold.. then turning around and renting them at a higher price which is driving up the cost of living in my town.
I remember some years ago when the Chinese were buying up houses in California for their women to give birth in and become automatic U.S. citizens. More recently, this scheme is being called "birth tourism" in California "Maternity Mansions."
I'm from Centralia,IL. We are a small town right outside of STL. We are also close to Scott Air Force Base. A few years back a hunch of Chinese people came and bought the small airport we have here. They started small with a few students they rented a couple house's. By 2020 they had purchased an old hotel here and some old scho busses. They spent the next couple of years learning how to fly big planes and teach others to fly small planes. Now they are all gone but they still own that property.

I'm a born & raised Texan, and in Jr. High we moved from East Texas to the Texas Panhandle. You can look further and see less than ANY place on earth. NO trees, no green grass, nothing until you get to Amarillo. NOTHING will freaking grow there except for tumble weeds and the occasional mesquite bush with thorns. If you look at the map that Dr. Phil shared, even though that area of Texas is a barren wasteland, there are red areas where the Chinese have purchased land. The reason why... PANTEX. It's the final assembly point for all United States military nuclear warheads. It's also the same place where when they decided to reduce the number of nukes we had. They shipped them back there and took the warheads off and have stored them in bunkers there. And there is a military base with a runway. That's long enough that it was the backup emergency runway for the space shuttle missions. If the Chinese are buying up land around pantex, we got big problems! And there is no other reason for buying that land, because again, nothing will grow and thrive out there.

China is not in the top 10 of foreign countries owning US farmland. Canada owns 32% of foreign owned US land. Canada is followed by the Netherlands, Italy, the UK, and Germany. Those 5 hold the majority of foreign owned US farmland. Given China is a top 2 in the world in population and gdp, you’d expect they would own more Edit: “Chinese ownership of U.S. agricultural land is 349,442 acres as of Dec. 31, 2022, down from 2021. Not just Chinese, every major corporation should have massive restrictions on what type of land they could buy. They shouldn't be allowed to own homes, apartments, farms and almost every other types of land.

Happens in London too. I rented a room in a house near hyde-park, beautiful house but was planning on leaving to move to a cheaper and younger area. The last month I was there, the agent was doing a facetime video with someone, showing the entire house. I asked about if it was a viewing for my room, he said no, it was a Chinese couple who were looking to buy the house. I ask more questions turns out, they've never stepped foot inside of the UK in their lives and they had no plans on ever doing so. They just wanted to buy the house, get rid of all tenants and make it vacant for a couple of decades and sell it later. They even had a translator for the FaceTime call because they didn't know a single word of English. After I left, I found out from old housemates who still lived there after I moved out, that they were kicked out because the Chinese couple bought the house and pretty much boarded it up ready for 2 or 3 decades of vacancy. And people wonder why housing is so expensive in London. 10% of the residential houses are vacant. Not because nobody can't afford it, but because the owners live in a different country and are holding them to sell them decades from now.

This was going on near grand forks nd by the air force base. The Chinese wanted to build a strictly corn elevator. The department of defense sent a letter to grand forks saying it’s a threat to national security and it all got completely shut down. Was very refreshing to see that happen. It's very interesting that USA allows foreigners to buy Agricultural land. But many other countries do not allow foreigners to buy their Agricultural land- like China, India, Morocco and several other countries.
