“They can’t just make different movies with different people in different universes right?” Comics say hi.
@jedijones
@jedijones 2 года назад
Marvel Comics never did it before the last 10 years or so. In fact, Joe Quesada vowed that the Ultimate universe from 2000 would NEVER cross over into the real Marvel universe, because he hated DC's multiple Earths back before 1985. Now Marvel is making all the same mistakes DC did back in the day, and copying it into the movies.
@WSK9002
@WSK9002 Год назад
Which is another reason, it's a benefit to read comics when one is young, one's older rationalism isn't there to tell you, "this is too much," which is what a lot of older people say when they get into the Marvel universe.
@hulkhatepunybanner

@@jedijones *DC used the multiverse theory to continue writing stories about the same characters. DC has far fewer characters than Marvel. Marvel Studios appears to be using the multiverse to bring in Fantastic Four and the X-Men. One might say it's not necessary. But audiences are going to be asking where was F4 and X-Men when the Avengers were fighting Thanos.* It also doesn't cancel out every pre-MCU movie which is the only way to get Sony and Universal into the MCU.

@@jedijones Exactly. You always find that young kids who don't know any better, justify poor movie making decisions, by citing poor comic book creation decisions. Most of which (both poor comics and poor movies) have come very recently. What these naive 'fans' are stating (without realising) is that bad movies are somehow legitimised, by the fact that the comics made the same mistakes. Which of course, is nonsensical. Not that they will ever realise or admit that however.

Michael Waldron and team are doing a WONDERFUL job. This saga has three phases + one SECRET fourth phase (2026-2028, culminating with the 20th Anniversary of the MCU). The Nathaniel Richards variants ("The Dynasty of Kangs") will be resolved by the character who teams up with Strange in the third movie in this series, called "TRIUMPH AND TORMENT." That character is the greatest supervillain of them all. He will stop the Kangs and save what is left from Total Multiversal Incursion -- by creating Battleworld. Stephen Strange, for a time, will be his sheriff.

I agree, a lot of people complain that Marvel movies are to similar and follow the same formula but when they try something different people complain that its not their MCU..i mean they cant have it both ways..Other reason for many people not liking the movie is they think Wanda is a hero, that she is so great and just a mom..nah she is not a mom, she made them up and she tortured the mind of this town in Wandavision just so she could have her fantasy life...A lot of characters in these movies loose people but they dont do what Wanda does to others..

I liked the creepy, ominous ending, because, to buy into the idea that Wanda was corrupted by the Darkhold, and it's something you should not under any circumstances be using, than Doctor Strange should be paying some kind of terrible price for it. After all, I already drank the poison. Many people say Doctor Strange is basically Tony Stark, but with magic. And to an extent they are correct. I loved this movie, but sure, it ain't for everyone. Doctor Strange's comics can certainly dip a toe in the horror direction every once in a while and it was nice to see the movies dabble there, too. I actually think there's still a sense of fun to it in this movie though--sort of like the film "Hocus Pocus," but if you're not expecting it, it'll really throw you for a loop. This was from Sam Raimi, who did the Tobey Maguire Spider-Man trilogy, but before that he made a horror trilogy called "Evil Dead," so horror is in Sam's blood. If you guys didn't dig this, certainly don't watch the Evil Dead trilogy. It's way more intense lol Yeah, Fantastic Four and X-Men are from Marvel. The old movies aren't a part of the MCU (Disney didn't own the movie rights at the time) and I don't think the old movies will be brought in--bringing back Patrick Stewart as Professor X for this film was just a bit of fun. I know the idea of all this seems overwhelming, but the real MCU introduction of those two franchises will be done properly for first timers, I'm sure. Fantastic Four and X-Men are two of the very best Marvel franchises. Trust me, you'll love them when Disney gets there. Also, the woman at the end is a Doctor Strange character named Clea, a sorceress whom Strange goes on to date in the comics. Don't worry if you're confused--the next Doctor Strange film will explain who she is.

So don't worry too much about not seeing all the X-Men movies as this is a new variant of Charles Xavier not the same one from the X-Men movies. Earth-838 is also a newly introduced universe not being shown in any other media besides Multiverse of Madness. The Charles of this universe is inspired visually by the Professor X from the 90s Animated Series featuring his iconic yellow hoverchair and green suit with blue tie. They also played the 1990s X-Men theme as well which was awesome highly recommend the X-Men 90s show it's so good up there with Batman: The Animated Series. This Charles also draws from the Fox X-Men movie being played by Sir Patrick Steward and even quoting a line from one of the X-Men movies so he's like a mix of both. In the comic's the Avengers, X-Men, and Fantastic Four exist together but because Marvel Studios did not own the movie rights to X-Men and Fantastic they were never introduced into the MCU even though they played a massive part in the comic's for example the Infinity War of the comic's featured everyone from The Avengers to the X-Men. Civil War also featured everyone as well and even dealt with Mutant rights along with Superhumans but of course the MCU did not feature Mutants because of rights so they focused the Civil War around Wanda who in the comic is a Mutant. The Fox X-Men films take place on a different universe in fact with how many time related changes made in the X-Men films along with reboots there's like three different universes where they pretty much rebooted the franchise making it a little confusing on what films are canon anymore. The X-Men movies have so many continuity problems but there's some really good movies with Days of Future Past being of my the best Superhero movies outside of the MCU. Logan is also amazing and may even be my personal favourite Superhero film but I recommend at least watching up to Days of Future Past first before you dive into Logan. Reed Richards is a member of the Fantastic Four created in 1961 two years before The Avengers in 1963. The Fantastic Four are Marvel created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby but in the 1990s Marvel sold the rights when they were facing bankruptcy along with the rights to X-Men. This latest up until 2019 when Disney bought Fox and thus Marvel got the movie rights back. In this Fox made two Fantastic Four films and then rebooted it in like 2015 or something with a really awful film that missed the point of the Fantastic Four. Should note that John Krasinski did not play Mister Fantastic in any other film instead he was fan cast as Mister Fantastic for the MCU. It's unclear if he's playing Mister Fantastic of the main universe as there is a Fantastic Four film confirmed for the MCU. I do like how Earth-838 has the X-Men, Fantastic Four, Inhumans, and X-Men all co existing together like in the comic's it's just closer to what I grew up reading it's just a shame that we'll never see Tony Stark interacting with Reed Richards or Wolverine working alongside Steve Rogers Captain America unless they do flashbacks to WW2 where in the comic's they fought together. There is one theory going around stating that the Fantastic Four could've been a 1960s group but they got trapped in another dimensions maybe even the Quantum Zone from Antman. They could be introduced by Antman finding them in the next Antman movie bringing them back to Earth but in modern day introducing the Fantastic Four to the MCU. Then the Fantastic Four could start as a flash back to the 1960s and then pick off right when they return to Earth which would be pretty cool. X-Men on the other hand I have zero idea how they'll be introduced into the MCU. Maybe the X-Men do exist but there active in the background kind of like how Tom's Spider-Man was swinging around in the background we just never saw him until Civil War. But here's the big problem in the comic's and the X-Men movie's there over around 30 million people who classifies as Mutants so we should be seeing far more normal people in the MCU with unexplained abilities but we're not. So yeah hopefully Marvel has a plain to introduce these groups into the MCU.

Because of the sorcery of Doctor Strange, there’s always going to be an odd, offset, skewed, and creepy twisted activity. In this one, especially because of wanting to tell the “Wanda goes crazy and risks the universe for her kids” story adapted from the comics, Marvel chose horror-comedy director Sam Raimi. They wanted a horror perspective, in a PG-13 sense. I think this film pushes that rating fairly aggressively. So, it can say it accomplished that goal. I liked the film. It certainly seemed like a comic miniseries to me.

20:55 "Are the X-Men Marvel? Are the Fantastic Four Marvel?" For some this question sounds so absurd, but at the same time just goes to show that the general movie goers don't really follow this stuff. Imagine how confusing it must be to have to get into concepts such as "the multiverse" or even having to keep track of TV shows continuity just to make sense of the upcoming movies.

Yeah. I'm one of the ones who absolutely loved the movie! I saw it 2 times opening week which is extremely rare for me. It's my favorite MCU movie now, I think: non-stop thrilling action, great characters & acting, visually spectacular, so much heart... Having grown up with 90s Marvel cartoons & comic books, I felt like a kid again watching this.... And it leaves you so pumped for the next one! It is directed by Sam Raimi who is known for Evil Dead, though he also did the original Spiderman movies, so we got more of his style and some of the horror tropes from his movies. But it was planned as more of a horror movie even before he came on, and Doctor Strange is a character who does cross over into the horror genre. I personally enjoyed all of those quirks. Some of my favorite comicbook movies are Snyder's DC films so I prefer that dark gritty tone, and stylized action that this movie had some of. I find Disney generally too limiting with the stories they tell having to be family friendly. Though they are generally good at ensuring a base line of quality, but this movie I feel was a positive step for Marvel. & X-Men & Fantastic 4 really make it feel like the complete Marvel universe, finally. The thing about X-Men & Fantastic 4 is that they were done very poorly in live action in the past but when they get to the MCU I think they will make sure that it feels natural, and we will get much better comic book accurate, but also realistic, and not hoaky like in the past, versions of the characters. I can't wait!

I loved this movie. The 1st Dr. Strange really pulled magic into the MCU even though Wanda had been in it for a minute but her character hadn't really been delved into. We knew Hydra had used Lokis scepter to create her and her brother then WandaVision fleshed her out much more. The chaotic nature of the weirdness is a trademark of Sam Raimi the director and those who actually like the non formulaic MCU movies, this and Thor Ragnarok, are appreciative of Kevin Fiege for letting directors like Raimi and Taiki Waititi put their stamps on the movies. I mean does anyone remember who directed Iron man 3 or Thor the Dark World without looking them up? No but the style and visuals of Ragnarok and Dr Strange 2 are unequivocally Taika and Sam.

Ever since their first movies, Marvel has been drifting more toward recreating the comic universe in their movies than adjusting their comic stories to make them "movie-like." This really got apparent in Guardians of the Galaxy, and the Multiverse is the next level. The comics would keep one-upping a theme like this until it got too ridiculous to illustrate and they'd have to reboot. Expect next phase of the MCU to be a bit crazy.

However, just like Wanda she realized in the end that she did become a monster. Not by her powers or by her trauma, but by her choices that she made with them. Like I said, Wanda is not a villain; she’s just a desperate woman who wants to be happy again and just needs the guidance. 😰💔❤️‍🩹

Hi there long time Marvel comic book fan here. Just want to say I love watching your videos. Never change the way you approach watching them. I really enjoyed the movie. There were some parts that I though might have been weird for people who aren’t too familiar with the comics but I thought the strangeness and weirdness for this movie was just right. If anything the last Doc Strange movie had too little weirdness but with this one we see how the Doc Strange characters and stories really embrace that weirdness, that last scene where he uses the dead Strange corpse is so symbolic because it’s come full circle. The Doc Strange before he became a sorcerer would totally have sacrificed America, but in a display of personal growth the Doc Strange of this universe, raises the dead Strange and uses the body to do the right thing even though that body has broken down and is no longer functioning. It’s weird but it’s also poignant and that’s what I liked about it. Weird people can be good, weird people can do the right things too. Absolutely loved it.

Two things (in case they haven't been pointed out already): *The character being played by Charlize Theron in the post-credits scene is Clea. She has a long history in the comics with Dr. Strange. She is the daughter or niece (they never seemed to keep it straight) of Dormammu, from the first Dr. Strange movie, and Stephen rescues her from Dormammu, trains her in magic, and they have an on/off romance over the years. *The food vendor on the street is played by Bruce Campbell, a long-time friend and collaborator of Sam Raimi, the director of this movie. Raimi directed the first three Spider-Man movies with Tobey Maguire, and Bruce Campbell has a cameo in all of them. As always, you two ladies are a pure and utter delight!! You ladies are so much fun to watch and see reactions from. As to your question about are people loving the film, it is an acquired taste really in how it relates to the director of the film. As people in the comments have already mentioned Sam Raimi cut his teeth in the horror genre with the Evil Dead films than branched out into horror and comedy after the first 2 ED films with Army of Darkness or ED3. He did do the original Spiderman trilogy with McGuire (even though the 3rd film was not on the same level as the 2 previous) then Drag Me to Hell and then back to a Superhero/Horror hybrid type film with Strange 2. I was generally entertained with the film as I grew up in the 80's in Ontario and the heyday of horror films, that was my bread and butter of film education. If you showed it to someone that didn't enjoy the weirdness of Raimi's earlier work than it may not be the same experience. Some will enjoy it, some wont.
