CIU Dr. Tony Emetu discusses that even if the degree attainment rates of African American male college students remain low, recent trends indicate that this student population is more likely to enroll in online courses. Through a survey of literature and using the social capital theory as the framework, the Liaison Facilitator Model (LFM) was developed as a recommended strategy that may be used by institutional faculty in supporting African American male online college students in five areas including support services, advising, technology, curriculum, and scholarly research.
