I don’t understand how people can dislike videos like these. She’s literally giving us information that you’d usually have to pay to hear. Thank you Dr V for these informative videos 🙏🏾
@@Rwissam1987 I noticed that too. But maybe retinol and vitamin C are okay. Maybe it’s retinoid (like tretinoin) and vitamin C that are bad. I’m not sure.
Seriously because of you and dr Alexis stephens my skin has done a complete 180 I’m so grateful to you all for doing this for all of us who want to take care of our melanin skin
I love this channel... so glad I found it. I’m a black man and was very ignorant to how to properly take care of my skin...until I found you of course!! Thank you for all you’re doing for us people of color. I would love to see a video whenever you can about your opinion on black men’s facial hair
we need more Retinol Retinoid recommendations Doc. Paulas choice isn't in everyone's budget. Please do a recommendations video for Retinol Retinoid so we know what's best products. Thx DrV
Katrina , I have been a holistic master esthetician of over thirty years. I sell a retinol that is vegan, cruelty free and encapsulated and wonderful for all skin. I have been making it for over two decades( ageless night serum , it’s concentrated and last a long time time) Just extra skin love. I’m sure Dr V has some as well. Fondly 🙌🏻🍑Lisa Peaches Skin Care
@@tammyturner8868 Ordinary is not my favorite. We see a lot of burns and issues because most are a one bottle one synthetic ingredient product. Just be mindful when using it 🙌🏻🍑Lisa
@@PeachesSkinCareI hope you aren’t offended by this, but if paula’s choice isn’t in our budget, how would you expect a product that contains 1 fl oz for $45 to be?
Good morning Dr V and everyone ☀️ I love retinol🙌🏻 I love that we are both here to help people be their best and that you and I both care about others and their skin. We may not agree on everything, but I really appreciate all you do and the fact that your always so kind and respectful when I comment with kindness. Have a beautiful day 🙌🏻🍑Lisa Peaches Skin Care
I look up to your skincare advice so much! You are a blessing to our SOC community! My skin has improved so much by listening to your videos! Just bought your Dark Circles Kit! So excited to get it and start using it!
Hi Dr V. As a medical professional and person with skin of color, i really admire your work and am so thankful to you for helping us take care of our skin properly. You are a gem in todays money minded society. I want to know if i can include my salicyclic exfoliater as well if i am including vitamin A in my skincare routine.
Dr.V,it would be great if you could make a video using all the famous ingredients like (vitA, vitC, vit b3,BHA, A.arbutin etc...)and how to use them whether at AM or PM and on how many times a week. In short I meant a video,"what all actives to use throughout the week and how". I think it would help a lot of us who are confuced in regards to this matter! Love your videos 💕 and keep helping us like this!
@@snehahalder3877 ikr! I've tried so many sunscreens, have also watched all of her videos in which she reviews Indian skincare brands, still haven't found a single good one!
Please more clean makeup options for eyes and lips... I think it’s almost imposible to find ingredients in makeup that are not irritating or bad for the skin🤷🏻♀️
Dr V could you please recommend a basic skincare routine for glowy brown skin. I have dry skin don’t really know when to use what or how to build a daily skincare routine. Would really help xx
I'm from india ,n I'm watching minimalist reviews n suddenly found your channel n now I'm so happy that i found my godfather because i have extremely sensitive skin you r like wht i want 0% irritation 😍😍😍 lots of love frome india Lot
I would love your thoughts on some more affordable retinols. Such as some drugstore brands. CeraVe, The Ordinary, The Inkey List, Olay etc. Thank you. Always enjoy your videos.
Please do a video on using prescription tretinoin 0.025% for PM skin routine and what other serums and moisturizes to use. Also, please include skincare routine for PM for nights when not using tretinoin. Thank you
Hello. Here's a topic that I don't think is touched often in skincare videos. Most products I've tried and most products in general say to avoid the eye area. The problem is my eyelids have gotten extremely dark (hyperpigmentation) because of rubbing and eczema. I've been to the dermatologist who said the hyperpigmentation would go away on its own. I find this unlikely considering I had this for 15 years now. I've tried so many natural remedies and scoured the internet and cried because everything is either for the under eye dark circles or says to avoud the eye. Could you please make a video on products we can use on the eyelids and eye area that help with the hyperpigmentation there?
I’m so glad I looked up retinol dr v. I was just literally looking in the mirror and I thought I had an eyelash under my nose, turns out it’s a wrinkle 😢 and then you say in the video that’s one of your problem areas…I’m adding these to my routine right away! Thank you for all the information 💕
Thank you Dr.V for all the information on retinol. Can u please review: 1. AM: Tatcha’s Vitamin C serum, Shiseido bio performance revitalizing moisturizer & shiseido sunscreen 2. PM: Dr. Dennis gross alpha beta peels( once a week), neutrogena retinol cream (once a week) followed by Shiseido moisturizer
Hi Dr Rattan. #1 fan here! Thank you!I'm 56. Never treated my face before. But just started as I'm wrinkling up faster than before. I'm taking notes from your videos and about following them - Ageing and Hyperpigmentation. My questions: 1. Can I start Hyperpigmentation Treatment without Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate? They ran out everywhere. 2. I used Drunken Elephant Sunscreen with plenty of CeraVe Moisturizer - Why did it dry out my skin so much? 3. I used CeraVe Moisturizer alone at night - it still dried up my skin as well 4. After applying moisturizers - CeraVe, Olay Regenerist, Srivectin, - I would find clumpy stuff on my face. Is it my skin peeling or the moisturizers' residues? 4. Olay and Srivectin do not dry up my skin. I'm puzzled ;) Thank you again!
I play informational videos at increased speed just for the sake of time, but when I heard 37 years old you best believe I both rewinded and slowed the speed down to normal.
Dr Rattan, love from Bangladesh. This is the first channel I came across which speaks about skin of colour. Love your work! I've been using The Ordinary 2% Granactive Retinol now I'm thinking of starting the Paula's Choice 1% retinol with the 10% Niacinamide booster. Any suggestions?
Hello Dr.V ! Greatly appreciated all the reviews that you do. It helps so much. Are you able to do shampoo review ? Specifically for fine and oily hair ☺️ thanks a lot
Can you please do a video on The Glow Recipe. Specifically their avocado retinol sleeping mask. I have oily skin and heard great things about it but your input is ALWAYS appreciated
I am very confusing with all the comments but I would like if you do a video of retinol with a friendly and affordable budget now a days we have to count every penny.... sorry if I am too honest but I particularly would like to have a product that do the same thing an costs less. 😉👍
Hey Doc, I'd cross seven seas for you if you'd just take some of your precious time and suggest some Indian Sunscreens. I'm STRUGGLING since months to find a good one for a daily wear. Love Love ❤️❤️
I actually used 0.1% adapalene gel for 4 months without any moisturizer because the moisturizer that the dermatologist gave was clogging my pores.i knew I'm not supposed to use it without moisturize but I got carried away with it as it was clearing my acne. But after a while my right side cheeks started to burn.thats when it hit me .I stopped ,of course but I'm still sensitive in that side.😭
Can you please review these physical sunscreens from India🇮🇳 La shield matte sunscreen SPF50 pa+++ and Suncros matte gel SPF50 pa+++. Love you❤️ and your contents are really helpful.
The Paula's chiice is AMAZING....I began to uae after watching this video. It does not irritate or overdry skin it purges but not as bad either. I would definitely recommend 👌
Always thankful to Dr Rattan’s videos! I’m a little confused because I thought retinoid and vitamin c shouldn’t be used in the same regimen because their pH’s are different
She has said it in another video not to use Retinol with ascorbic acid but it is ok to use with derivatives of Vitamin C like the one she is recommending here.
Dr V, please talk about extremely dark inner thighs and the importance of sunshine and vitamin D and how we can get a bit of sunshine without triggering melanocytes. And please review nutrogena sheer zinc/ultra sheer zinc Thank you for all the knowledge you impart generously ❤️
Super informative I feel very much knowledgeable as I begin my anti aging skin care routine, any chance of getting your product earlier accessible to the South African skin of colour market in the near future.
I am using tretinoin 0.05% since past 7 months. Started off with 0.025 every other night. Moisturiser before and after. Moved on to 0.05 after 2 months, now I use it every night and moisturise afterwards. My skin did not peel or scale at all. I moisturise rigorously and use sunscreen religiously. I love my tret and will continue to use it for life. I am 28 with mild acne. I am using tretinoin for anti-aging and mild acne. As of now it’s worked wonderfully on my acne.
Hi dr V. This video is what I needed rn so thanks alot! Ur saying 0.5 retinol is safe soc however, at the end on the screen (@7.22) it showed 9.5%. M assuming it's a typo error. Anyways keep doing the great work and thanks alot for ur effort
Incorrect, at the time of 7:21, DrV own created visual aide displayed 9.5%. I believe she is saying null (mathematical term for zero). Dr V needs to edit/update her slides

I HOPE THAT MY DREAM BECOMES REALITY FOR YOU BECAUSE YOU DESERVE IT AS YOU CARE SO MUCH FOR ALL OF US. YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL PERSON INSIDE AND OUT!!!LOTS OF LOVE XXX
Dr V R can’t you do an episode about only foundations that is good for the skin. I live in Sweden and for women of color (indian) it’s not easy to find good brands that isn’t toxic for your skin. I would love to get example of foundations specific that you think is gentle and ok for the skin 😊
Thank you for this lovely video. I currently use Niacinamide and Vitamin C. If I have you include Retinol in my nighttime skincare routine, what should be the sequence?
Hi Doc, thank you so much for your informative video. Regarding the products you have used, I have two quries- 1. In your other videos with retinol, You have mentioned, we can't use ascorbic acid with retinol. But here the products that you have suggested contains retinol & the second one is ascorbic acid. Can you please clearify this and at what frequency we should use these as both are active ingredients? 2. Regarding this retinol, if we can't use it for the wrinkles around eyes can you suggest some brand names for retinol formaldehyde which will serve the overall purpose of anti-aging and which we will be able to use around eyes as well? I would highly appreciate your guidance regarding this.
Retinol and vitamin c formulated together is okay .they are formulated together in some encapsulated non reactive form ,at any case vitamin c would be very less and down the inci list . What she says when we shouldn't combine is being chemist at our bathroom and layering vitamin c and retinol by ourselves . Products that are formulated together are tried and tested . Hope it clears your confusion .
@@toniroseracelis7278 It takes time to work. They usually review it for only a month or a week😕. It can take 6 months to even a year to see results from salicylic acid. Another reason could be because the molecule of betaine salicylate (the one used in cosrx) is bigger than your average salicylic acid. Thus not being able to penetrate deeper. Idk. From what I've read, 4% betaine salicylate has the same efficacy as 2% salicylic acid.
Love your videos and information, thank you for your time and knowledge. Would you consider a video for post menopausal very dry skin? Mine was normal- dry now very dry.
Dr. V, finding you has been a blessing to so many of us. I can’t even thank you enough for taking your precious time to make these informative videos with such Grace, humor, articulation and so much more. I truly appreciate you. You are God sent to us. Having said that :), could you please make a video on how to incorporate Paula’s choice Booster Vitamin C 15% w/ferulic/E to The ordinary products for oily/acne/PIH skin. I know you already made a video on layering for oily skin but given that MAP 10% is been out of stock from the ordinary, some of us are purchasing vitamin C from Paula’s choice. Is her booster Vit C 15% ok to use with The Ordinary niacinamide/azelaic? You can just response here. Thank you!
Love your videos, I have learned so much! I work overnight and sleep during the day and wonder when I should be using my rx strength tretinoin cream .05%.
Thankyou for all the guidance. Can you please guide us about how to remove small multiple brown coloured warts from face specially near the eye region for skin of colour and how to avoid it.
Hi. Do you recommend adapalene over retinol ? I'm currently using the cerave resurfacing however I'm looking into adapalene because I love the results . Any advice please 🙏🏼 and thank you in advance
Hello, Dr. V! Thank you for the content you create :) it's very educational! I wanted to ask will using retinol lead to increased hair growth on face in women?
I love watching your videos, they are so informative. Dr I have used pea size tretinoin thrice a week at night with my moisturizer for two months & it has caused orange peel skin texture. I'm 56 & I never had any texture issue's before. I'll be grateful if you can guide me how to get my normal texture back.
Does formation of product change the quality of the product? Like can a product be good even if it's formulated with alcohol denat? Please make a video on this☺️☺️
Thank you for this video! I'm a bit confused. Another Doc, whom you had on your channel, made a video a while back stating to not combine retinol with Vit. C. Would you be able to give any feedback as to why that would be a recommendation. Also, since you use sunscreen on your little ones, how do you cleanse their skin and what products do you use? I have a toddler and an 11 yr old. I am worried about the products I introduce to their skin. Thank you so much for all you do to keep our pigmented skin looking good! 🙌🏽

@@vysh-yz1lz hey I don’t think the two products recommended here were formulated together. If I don’t have those specific products available, I just want to understand the rule for combining vitamin c products with retinol products
@@vysh-yz1lz She's talking exactly about layering them together and I don't know why cuz all the dermatologists opinions and skincare articles and columns I've been through STRONGLY RECOMMEND AGAINST IT.... ALWAYS
Can you do a video that discusses how to treat our children’s skin? For example if they get a mosquito bite, is there something we can do to help prevent hyperpigmentation; and the right body moisturizers, sunscreens etc? Thanks 😊
I'd like your thoughts on my current skincare routine (even from people, just to see if i'm on the right path?) Skin Type: Dry and Sensitive Skin, Rosacea on cheeks, with occasional hormonal acne on chin/jawline (leads to hyper pigmentation spots left over *sigh* ) Skin Tone: Medium-Tan (my pimples look red and then when they leave a mark its a medium brown colour) *Morning Skincare:* Double Cleanse: (First I use the Fresh Soy Face Cleanser and then I Cleanse with the Cerave Hydrating Cleanser) Toner: (I use the First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Wild Oat Toner) Facial Spray: ( Cocokind Rose Water spray) Serum: ( either Niacinamide or Αlpha Arbutin, both from The Ordinary (TO) ) Facial Spray again Hyaluronic Acid from The Ordinary Cerave Moisturizing Lotion (the one in the tub) Drunk Elephant Protini Peptide moisturizer Eye cream ( Kiehl's avocado eye cream, im just trying to use it up, i dont like kiehls anymore after Dr V and Hyram's videos lol) One facial oil to lock everything in (I use very little as i find that my eyes burn if i layer tooooooo many products on my skin, i switch between Cocokind's Chia Oil or Viva Organics Jojoba oil as these are light weight for me) Rose quartz Roller to roll the oil (i doubt this works but its so cooling to the skin and i feel bougie LOL) SPF: Shiseido Clear Stick SPF 50 (no white cast!) *Evening Skincare:* (its lots of hydration dont judge pls) Double Cleanse: (First I use the Fresh Soy Face Cleanser and then I Cleanse with the Cerave Hydrating Cleanser) Toner: (I use the First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Wild Oat Toner) Facial Spray: ( Cocokind Rose Water spray) Serums : (I layer vitamin C from Tatcha, Αlpha Arbutin from TO and Niacinamide) Hyaluronic Acid from The Ordinary Cerave Moisturizing Lotion (the one in the tub) Drunk Elephant Protini Peptide moisturizer Eye cream ( Kiehl's avocado eye cream) OILS GALORE! ( I mixed TO's rosehip oil, then Jojoba oil, Chia Oil, and The Body Shop's Vitamin E overnight oil), i mix 1-2 drops per oil in my hand, pat it on my face and roll with my rose quartz roller Spot treatment: I use Clean and Clear's salicylic spot treatment when I break out around that time of month or if i eat poorly, i have to find a different one as i just realized this has denatured alcohol in it :( Soooo.. Thoughts? Opinions? Be kind please! So far my skin has been improving, especially my pimple pigmentation, the only new product ive been using for a week is the Αlpha Arbutin from TO! The first day I used it my skin had a purging moment around my mouth and chin area but it went away the next day :O So far my skin has been hydrated, glowy and I wake up with plump skin and less redness! The one thing i noticed is that i need to keep my morning skincare simple or else my eyes burn throughout the day. But its so hard to keep it simple! I JUST WANNA LAYER EVERYTHING AND CLEAR MY SKIN RIGHT AWAY LOL but i guess patience is key haha!
wow you're doing a lot haha. it seems excessive to double cleanse in the morning. honestly, some people with really dry skin (including myself) don't need a cleanser at all in the morning. just water, moisturizer and sunscreen. im not sure about this but i've heard that using oils on your face during the day if it's hot where you are can make your pigmentation worse
@@gaj30 LOL yeaah i know :P Im a skincare junkie and i just get too excited .. and i think ive heard the same about oils during the day as well? i live in canada and currently its snowing LOL sooo i sorta need that extra boost :) i used to double cleanse only if i wore makeup, but now i dont go anywhere so im like whats the point. but dr v says its best to double cleanse if you've worn actives at night and suncreen during the day? so im testing this theory out :O im gonna give this routine a month to see how i like it :) thanks for your insight and comment though!! i appreciate it :)

Yes you can use retinol and niacinamide together.. first niacinamide on the skin then retinol.. so that it can help soothe any redness or irritation caused by retinol
