The only good thing about this movie: the school scenes were filmed at my friends' high school, John Hersey High School.

there's a deleted version of how they defeated freddy which is WAAAAY better than what we ended up with. it goes on a little longer and has more of an emotional payoff to it, it feels like the characters, Nancy and Quentin get closure and freddy gets his proper comeuppance.

For the record, Craven originally wrote Freddy as a pedophile before he died but rewrote him a child murderer cause there were a bunch of publicized child molestation cases going on in Cali during the film’s production and Craven didn’t want to be accused of exploiting the situation.

It would have been an interesting twist if it turned out the parents killed an innocent man rather than rehashing the same old crap

I love Dr Wolfula. I've watched this a couple of times and, yeah all of the points he makes are totally valid. To me, the main one wasn't mentioned. In the original, the characters were eighties teens, who would have been having hair mousse fights and getting down to Frankie Goes To Hollywood, but now are terrorized by a supernatural entity, and can no longer have vapid fun. The remake has brooding depressed teens who are just pissed that they can't spend hours being brooding and depressed while the bury their heads in the internet. Personally, I don't care if they die. They weren't having fun before. Maybe Freddy can do us all a favor, and rid us of these miserable hoodie-wearing entitled misery-mongers. Try having fun kids! No sympathy for this lot. Hope he kills you in the worst possible way. Ipso facto, no scary movie....

Does anyone wish they were more Carl Jung And less cheesy cgi B-movie. Because the basic appeal for the series honestly was more an examination of the characters inner most psyche with the interesting ways to depict it with their dreamscapes. Freddys more hammy lines in later films was more a mockery of their inner most thoughts/desires as a means to tear down the positive aspects of them

I liked the idea that they implied Freddy was innocent and that's why he was major pissed at the children, but then they were like "oh yeah he is a child molester" and I was bummed out. I thought wrongfully burned alive Freddy would have been a nice twist.

Awsome review doc! I have to admit out of the 3 remakes platinumdunes did I like this the most .

On thing that's worth noting, is in the original story by Wes Craven he was intended to be a pedophile. These parts were removed though, making him only a child murderer. Annoyingly, though, this version of Freddy seems to have no motivation for starting to murder anyone. There is a logical connection between a child abuser becoming a murderer (that being that it either gives them some kind of perverse sexual pleasure, or to ensure he stays undetected, but that's not what he did). The kids even liked him! This seems a total mess of concepts.
