Great sounds Euge. Somebody is becoming big fan of Dr Z amps. And they and good Dr Z really deserve it. And when nice words come from such a guitar and tone master - that really means something!
What a great sounding Amp! It has clarity, separation, tone in the sweet spot, overdrive is rich, very even and balanced. The distortion doesn't sputter out as the note decays. It's got some of the most musical Sag on the low notes I've heard - sounds like a drum. It makes the guitar sound like two completely different instruments. The best thing one can say about any piece of gear is that it's inspiring, and that was coming through loud and clear with the tune you wrote for this video. All the parts were just perfect. I love that rhythm and arrangement. I'm a singer besides guitarist, and was instantly singing to that arrangement. That Dr. Z is a great sound for you to me also. You have a lot of Marshall's and they sound great, but they can be the same old same old too. This seems like a more modern tone that fits your style well. Sometimes trying something new can open up a whole new world of songs out of you.

Something about it reminded me of a Vox. I checked. it is not a Vox circuit, but like Vox it does not have negative feedback. Nice sounding amp. Good for melodic sound lead lines I tihnk
Not only do you demo the gear for us, but you give us a mini private concert too! This is why I love your channel! You do seem to like the simple, classic stuff best. What works, works. And like you say... the sound comes from the players hands. The amp just amplifies it. Which is what it should do! I like simple stuff too. If it has too many options, I spend too much time tweaking it, trying to get the sounds I want, instead of practicing.

Great sounds as always. Old-school, simple amps are always easier to dial in....less stuff to get in the way of the tone. I think I liked the other Dr. Z amp that you demo-ed a while back a little more than this one. My guess is that the 7591 tubes add more of a Fender-ish flavor to the tone. That would explain why you used your Tube Screamer to drive it a little more rather than your SD-1. Tube Screamers tend to work better with Fender-style amps and SD-1 work better with Marshall-style. I preferred the tone of your 1987x. A closer comparison to this Dr. Z would probably be the JTM45. Cheers!
Hi Euge, I really like your videos and since your wide knowledge regarding amps and guitars, could you please recommend me a guitar cabinet that sounds as the third Shining record guitars and bass combo? (i'm talking about the overall tone that bass and guitar make when played togheder in that album, for example at the start of the song Svart industriell olycka, after the short guitar intro). I know that this is a pretty complex request, but you would really help me out, cheers :)
Yes, that was exactly what I was thinking as well. I haven’t heard that song in forever, but I believe it is “Intuition.” I was just thinking of some of these TNT songs as I saw an article about Tony Harrell being on tour. Anyway sounded great as usual. Great playing Euge. Even though I love the 800 for that bad boy sound, when you switched to the 800 and played the same riff, it actually sounded much better on the Dr. Z to my ears. Funny how certain amps are just better for certain sounds. It makes sense tho since that was the amp that inspired you to play it. I think the difference was in the depth of the low end and a bit more clarity, just a warmer tone overall, more harmonic content, if that makes sense, hard to describe. I guess that’s the sag you were mentioning. Keep cranking out the vids Euge, love your content!
Oh that’s a tough one. I haven’t played with SLO30 (only with the SLO100) and those are really great amps too. If I could choose any amp that’d be one of my JCM800 2203s, with BOSS SD-1 😁👌.
That demo song, though. Kind of like the Gin Blossoms' _Hey Jealousy_ only with chops. But what's with that name? "Jetta." Were they _trying_ to name it after _the_ most bland, banal, bourgeois automobile in existence today?
