How to add preload to the front suspension of a dr200 or any old style motorcycle front suspension (non-inverted shock). This will decrease sag of the suspension under the bikes own weight. Increasing ground clearance and making the front stiffer by preloading the front springs more.

Me looking up mods for my DR200, only to find out that this mod is already done to my bike bc the DR in the video is now mine.

Got the green frame? I’ve kept track of mine since selling it and a kid in tenn has recently painted the frame and swing arm green

Wow they really cheaped out on the caps with this model. I would probably machine some Acetal, I reckon it would be tougher than the pvc.

Aussie Farmer yes they did lol and yes that would be stronger than the pvc but the pvc is more than enough, believe it or not I’ve ordered progressive spring kits for other larger bikes before and they send pvc preload spacers as well lol

I have a dr200j. One of the first ones. Not starter or battery from factory. It doesn't have the steel spacer up top. I thinking i could add 1 inch.

Possibly, at the very least you can do a little then try it and go up from there

Absolutely perfect!! But any idea for the rear suspension?

I never was able to find any solution to the rear.

@@DirtRider22a it is impossible to lift the rear ... I bought an adapter but as i said...it is in its upper position . If you lift it meets the lever at the suspension arm.

@@motorockerd not sure, I removed my rear shock and measure it then tried to find a shock and spring from another make/model and never had any luck

I usually add closer to .5 or .75 on my crf150f I had a socket about a inch in length in each fork tube

How did this turn out in the end? Does work well, or are there drawbacks?

Jason Watson no draw backs, it was noticeable but it doesn’t fix the issue. Still really soft but better than nothing. The real fix would be stiffer/progressive springs but I couldn’t ever find anyone selling anything dr200 specific
