DISCLAIMER: Although this is common practice with an aftermarket fuel tank, legally I can't recommend this mod. Do so at your own discretion.
This video describes the simple process of removing the charcoal cannister and associated plumbing from the DR650 when using an aftermarket fuel tank. Less clutter and less weight is a win-win. Enjoy 🍻👍🏻

I have a '21 DR650 that I bought barely used last year, and discovered that all DR650's now have the PAIR valve installed, even when you're not in California. Anyway, I bought a block off kit and removed the entire PAIR valve hardware, and now that I've seen your video, I'm going to remove the Charcoal canister as well. Now, a lot of people have said that the PAIR valve doesn't impede performance, but I can tell you that's not true. I had an '05 DR650 years ago without the PAIR valve and it ran great, but this '21 model ran weak, until I removed the PAIR valve, and now it runs like my old one did, which is just perfect. Starting is much easier too, just bump the starter and it fires, like it should. Plus, the PAIR valve was rattly and noisy when the engine was running, leading some guys on the forums to think their new DR650 had some type of engine noise, but that's not what it is! The PAIR valve makes that rattling noise, and when removed, the bike runs quietly as it should.

Yep! Everything the bogus EPA touches ruins engines. Case in point diesel exhaust fluid, yeah let's take a soot that simply falls to the ground causing NO HARM and make it into a gas that STAYS IN THE AIR POLLUTING THE AIR WE BREATHE.

I am in Canada and they come with all that emissions garbage on them up here too (2021 model). I got rid of all the vapor control system and immediately noticed the difference, the starting is on the first crank now like you said, before it would go 2-3 before it would fire. How did you blank off that pulse port on the head with yours? I just cut and shaped a piece of steel, painted it with muffler paint, installed it with some sealant and used the screws from the pipe I took off. I have no idea if just blocking that port will cause any other problems but so far it hasn't caused any issues that I can see. I was not aware there was a block off kit available or I would have gotten one...

@southerndualsport3827 Год назад
@@helifixer206 mine is a bit older (2007) I didn't have that one unfortunately so I can't say, but I'm sure you can simply block it off. Most emissions systems you are able to do that. (Not that I am advising you to do so haha)

Once you remove the charchoal filter, you can move the tool kit onto where it was mounted. It's still accessible and isn't hanging out in the open like it originally was.

I highly suggest Lasfit as a great LED headlight bulb, or use an AUXITO (2022 version h4) if you plan to use auxillary lights, I'm adding AUXBEAM 4inch (2 led) flood pod lights where my front reflectors are. I got the LS2 Blaze helmet, but like your Pioneer.

If you are still running a stock tank can you just block off that vapor vent from the tank or do you just let it vent? And did you have to loosen the oil cooler to get at the plate with the line on it to remove before you block it off?

I had a bmw F800GSA. Slid out on a round about and flooded the charcoal canister. It would cause the bike to misfire bad and stall if lower than 4k RPMs. And the Vegas heat didn’t help with that either. My bike wouldn’t be able to vent to the point where it keeps on stalling and the tank would be so pressurized it would swell up, shrinking at least 5 percent whenever I’d open the fuel filler cap. This shit is absolutely garbage and I’m looking forward to deleting on my dr650
@southerndualsport3827
@southerndualsport3827 Год назад
Yep EPA crap is a JOKE! It really does nothing for the environment anyway. People spill more gas filling their cars than these bike would EVER vent into the atmosphere. Where I live we have exactly ZERO emissions requirements and the air is as CLEAN as you can possibly imagine. 😉 it's all BS. HAHA!

@@shawnlynch5242 no do not block the vent line on your stock tank! When you get rid of the charcoal canister use one of those lines with the metal clip and place that on the brass nipple on the tank for venting. Run it down to the side of your swing arm
