Heres a few more bits and pieces from around Drachenfest as well as a little glimpse into the extremely reclusive Orc camp! Follow me on Twitter!: / theirishwill
The orc prisoner, the snarling sounds that the orcs make, their single combat. Wow, if I hadn't seen this before hand I would have freaked out. its really scary. Wouldn't mind being a part of it. very nice.
I have seen a "Middle Earth" production all with these type "doing it for the fun" I plan on watching more of these. There is a group that gather in an old castle [are there new castles?] they have medievil events and follow all the "rules" of the era Will how long have you been doing this? great exercise and enjoyment of the outdoors- I love how it takes a RPG and makes it Real, well it seems like your into this bigtime. Later mate
Ive gone to these events each year for the past three years, these ones are the biggest and best in the world they say! Its definitly good exercise (Im feckin knackerd after them!) Its a shame they dont have something on this scale in Ireland.
What?! you Chaos Spawn ... 2014 made hunting at you, I always want a nice carpet in front of my tent ... No those fighting against you and the other wolf were cool'm already looking forward to next year
xXxTerrorDxXx , I´m no Chaos Spawn, I just came to the wrong neighborhood and assimilated myself. ;) We´ll be there in 2014, but I will redo my fur a bit. Have a good start in 2014 and see you in summer.
Dude, where do you get in with these kinds of groups? The LARPs around here I know of are pretty lame, but this.. What the Hel, man xD Where do I sign up?
I've had a hard time finding larps too, but I live in Texas, which I assume is a hard place to find good legit larps, because of the flat lands. I've never larped before but I really want to
Wow, 40C. The poor European folk must hate it everytime us Aussies decide to pop over and call it a reletively warm day ;) But in all due seriousness, I hate larping in the heat. Makes me miss the ones I did in the Netherlands when I lived there. Our larps here in Perth go clear through the year and can sit on the hottest days of about 43 on average. It stinks :/
Well, orc´s are not supposed to be nice, are they now? And yes, everything you see is acted, those players and their characters respectivly have years long history, trust each other completely. On a sidenote: The Orcs have awesome parties, and are really cool guys with masks and without.
So, here's aquestion, the orc group, how does one go about contacting them, do you know? Because I'm part of an orc group, and if we go, we'd much prefer being in with the orcs from the start. Unfortunately, while there's a lot of pictures and video of thes orcs, there isn't ny contact info. Any help would be appreciated.
Yeah it really isnt easy from what I can tell and they tend to have a lot of boxes you need to tick to enter, maybe try ask in the drachenfest forums to see if anyone can put you in touch?
Try Georgia RenFest in Fairburn, Ga.... Got some good open air taverns and the Mead, ale , and wine flow good..(just stay away from the carbonated Mead..... The flavors get ruined from the carbonation process)
Im into all this fantasy stuff and im 15 right now but i dont get this larping thing can sombody please inform me what it is all about because in my opinion it looks fucking awesome
Masschaoswow Depends on where you are. The U.S states and Canada have a lot of groups- Dagohir, Amtgard, the SCA and Belegarth are some of the most popular.
Masschaoswow And not speaking german is not a problem at all. Most of us are capable of speaking english... more or less good tbh, but theres always someone whos able to translate any importent speeches...
Yep! They organise beforehand what people are comfortable with (although most groups dont roleplay torture fullstop) they probably have a quick chat beforehand about what was okay and what wasnt :)
I just got back from ZDL and now I've tasted blood. I wanna go to DF so badly now, camp of choice is black dragon. can't wait to make friends with some orcs as well, because a few days ago a group of orcs approached me at ZDL because of my long ears, saying "mhhh, hast du aber lange ohren... schmecken bestimmt gut." ("mhhh, your long ears must taste pretty good"). I'll just carry some water with me next time and offer each orc I come across something to drink. When I'm in trouble (and I'm bound to get into trouble as an agile, fast elvish ranger (more of a rogue) with good sneaking and hiding abilities), I might have 50 orcs behind me, hopefully. (un)friendly greetings from a german larp-newbie.
Not Gona lie when I think orc I think world of Warcraft and I was a bit disappointed but it's still fucking awesome. How does one become an orc is there a trial
Hida Toyatota Some groups do 'reigns', which are themes for a set period of months. Ours is currently based on the Legend of the Five rings. Other groups may be primarily based on a certain area, but allow individual players or small bands of players to design characters based on other parts of the world.
Hida ToyatotaIn the Silver camp are a bunch of people, i think from a country north of germany like denmark or sweden... they do play asian cultre.. clan yoshida if im getting it right...
I think there are a few events like this in the US! Although Im not sure of what theyre called, there are a few american players in the group I travel with (The Grand Expedition) maybe you could travel over to this next time with them?
haha, ya that isn't a option, i wish! No money no honey bro! If you do hear about a US version let us know or if I do i'll post it too. Thanks brother.
TheIrishWill Ya i've been looking around and it looks like i'm screwed. I would have to travel to Euro to attend there is none like this in the US! If i do go i will go with the Grand Expedition like you did.. will you go back there, since you are limited to English like lots of us?
Aheezy Da Islander The Grand Expedition are great! Really friendly and open. Yep Ill be with the Grand Expedition next time again (who is based in gold camp for drachenfest) I wouldnt worry about the language too much most people have some grasp of english (it doesnt hurt to learn a couple of phrases just to be polite though) :)
Shouldn't everybody there speak German?! How do you get around there if you speak English? Or do you kind of have to speak German too? Please answer me!
so i didnt understand the death part.. you die and you do a trial to come back? Normaly larps if you die you die for good.. I understand why many are like that but after years of building a character, its very... well you know... if what i got from you about that trial thing is correct, you come back after a trial or somthing. like a good IC reason to come back. i would rather do that... so you dont seem like a godmodding son of a bitch but you dont lose everything.
You go to an area called the limbus (basically a dark maze where npcs go when theyre bored to scare players :P ) and if you roleplay well enough death may let you come back under certain circumstances (usually to do something for their amusement or a task youve to complete) Its more to balance out people who roleplay their hits dying to people who just want to fight and not roleplay anything.
malonze10 Depends on the LARP- in a combat heavy setting, (for example, I play Amtgard) death is a predeclared count- from 30 seconds to five minutes. Games also have healers who can resurrect players. I probably die anywhere from three to five times in a quest and more then eight in a battle game.
Black language is a different dialect to Orcish. Yes their is some similarities but they are two separate languages. I would say orcish similar to LOTR, with some black language creeping in.
2:45 And that is the reason why none can wear black anymore. Why are people doing this? Hell you can get nice IT clothing for not even 50 euros. And this shield has definitely cost more than even a reasonable good looking outfit.
