WOW!!! Mike Patey...you have made this old man's heart happy to see such a beautiful airplane! It certainly must be some kind of a hybrid! Reminds me of a 55 Jeep with a 500 cu in Caddy engine shoe-horned into it! There were a few of them back in the day!
My brother had a bush flying operation in western Alaska for 25 years. I spent a lot of time out there working with him. So have a lot of right seat time in various planes out there. But Draco is simply the most mind boggling plane I have ever seen. From design to execution, it is simply rolling art. My hat is off......
This Mike Patey guy is awesome, always in a good mood and plenty of talent, watching all his videos, he is a huge star !!!! He explains all in a simple manner.
So cool! There is no possible way not to grin ear to ear understanding the transformation of Draco. AND NOW FROM INSIDE. Viewing the panel and startup. Very very cool
I live in the rainy grey NW of England and absolutely love these vids ( I watch Trent's too ) the freedom is something great to behold and gives me real enjoyment and so thank you . The thing that sticks with me most however more than the flying is what a genuinely cracking bunch of blokes they all are ! Thanks again
I'm late to the comments on this vid but it was worth watching again. How on Earth are there 61 thumbs down? What's not to like? I have the RC version and just love it, I try to emulate the nose high super slow landing every time. I could watch Mike bring DRACO in 1000 times a day and smile every time. RIP DRACO :( Still waiting to see video of SCRAPPY in action. You guys really do have great skills, great friends, and great equipment. I only wish I could afford to join in. Keep the great videos coming to all the guys in the group. God bless.
Fun day.........watching just before you went to Oshkosh on you tub.........you make it look so fun, i too am a licence pilot and not currant....... my next is coming soon and looking down the barrel of 80........ last time i was here in Bountiful, just renting 172........ most of my time was in a Beech 180...... love it but time is short, hoping to get back up......... have fun, guys..........loved your work........ mde me miss it more... R GREEN
Its great to see where you are flying from and your destination.... BUT it is always fun to see or watch the take off from inside the cab... and the landing procedure, so cool. Thanks for videos
You guys have so much dang fun! Hard not to be a bit jealous. As always, great video. I thought when you were sleeping Patey was going to stall the plane mildly. Happy he didn’t though. See y’all sometime soon before I leave UT.
This medium of watching all of you guys take the same trip from different perspectives is very cool. I’ve watching all the Draco vids since day 1 and i finally got to fly inside. I think you and Mike could get a million views taking one of the Flite Test guys up and giving them the 50 cent tour.
Great Video. Not my first Draco vid view. Truly a Fire-Breathing Dragon. Amazing Build with a Panel and Controls that is AWESOME. Dang, The whole AC is "pick any superlative" ! I can't think of an adequate one. My guess the there many folks out there that would write a draft for Draco or her/his twin right now. If the Lamborghini LM002 (think Lambo does a 12cyl HUMVEE) was a STOL AC it would be envious/jealous.........Thanks for sharing.
Great video, The rate of climb on takeoff is insane !!! seen a load of videos from the ground but never inside (Presume this is the fist) would love to see more of the landings and Takeoffs which I am sure is coming. Anyway, keep up the great work you are entertaining all of us :-).
Hats off, Draco Kicks, What a Bush Plane, Too much Fun Hi from Us Southwest Microlight/Ultralights Greg wants a Plane just like Draco,, O and me too Love see'n the Big Guys show'n how to get er Done, Sleep'n on the way,,,, Now thats a back County Fly'n RV. Thanks for those of us that can't get there, Great Job,,, Safe n Fun Flyn Bob
Great footage Jason! What an adventure! Looking forward to part 2. What an awesome plane. I can totally see why you would go in Draco for its first trip to Oshkosh rather than taking your CC. First trip only happens once! Did you get to fly it?
If that dude was asleep in my airplane...I would scream as loud as I could *HOLY SHIT!!! WE'RE GOING DOWN* and I would pitch the nose to 45° and kick the rudder hard over. Then go "oh...I suppose not. Go back to sleep...my bad..." and hopefully submit it to AFV
Wow! Visibility is pretty good for a tail dragger! Yes! Instrument rating for me made me a much better pilot. Also help get over being intimidated by ATC.............
