His shadow moving independently of him was pure GENIUS! Especially when his shadow was choking Keanu out! Also, how badass was the coach driver! Love this movie, please invite it in.
ProVida Maria Ayush Mishra Read the book. He certainly wasn't happy by this point. But the castle was very hard and dangerous to escape and he only did so with great difficulty.
Still one of the best Dracula remakes... Classic, without feeling too old Fashioned. Timeless without feeling dated. As watchable as when it was first released. A true classic movie for all generations... 🙏❤️👍🎥😊
You will find that most comments are fairly respectful in the sense that they blame Coppola for casting him. Being a kind man and being a very good casting choice for some roles does not take away the fact that his acting is ... limited. And in this case he is playing in a true masterpiece of a movie paired with first rate actors and therefore his acting limits and inadequacies are therefore accentuated to an almost comical level. You can love Keanu Reeves and still acknowledge was is painfully obvious.
loved that 92 film!!! absolute classic!!! goes back to dracula's real life roots as the despotic terror known as vlad the impaler!!!!! Goldman was awesome as old dracula!!!!
Honestly the more times I watch the film the more I think Keanu's acting isn't so bad. He's expressionless because he's politely petrified, but that's also what he was like in the book😂.
Agreed, I think his accent is a little distracting but other than that I can't see the big problem. His understatedness allows Dracula to take centre stage, so to speak. It's not a classic Keanu performance (sometimes I forget he's in this although I'm a fan of the film and of him) but I think he got the job done ok.
The first time I saw him take that razor, turn, and so savagely lick the blood...it truly freaked me out. The choice of camera angle, sort of a fish-eye lens...so effective. That was the most terrifying Dracula performance ever. Gary Oldman...legend.
U mean there's only one "Dracula" film? Nope. There are 800 or so. But this one still is the best. Right after it comes "Dracula" (1931) with Bela Lugosi. I love his Hungarian accent and the athmosphere this film has :)
This man literally floated too u mirror breaks when he looks at it make a scary ass noise acting wired and climbing down the side of the dam building like and it’s nothing too him
Gary Oldman's acting was amazing ! Keanu acting young handsome man , he is good actor but simple roll, Gary's roll was so hard so many faces, emotions... and he was just amazing whatha class of act
I was hoping that you would mention that scene! The scene where Dracula tells his brides that "he too can love" is only mentioned because it is witnessed by one person - Jonathan Harker. There is a reason for that. Near the end of the book, Jonathan mentions he would willingly become a vampire himself rather than let Mina spend eternity alone if she succumbs to vampirism. He bases his decision on the belief that vampires could once love, which he learned from that scene. Thank you. :P
Really? Helsing kicks ass? Who escaped from Dracula's castle and the vampire brides by scaling the walls just like Dracula? Not Van Helsing; old man would've had a heart attack. It was Jonathan Harker. Who killed Dracula in the end? Not Van Helsing; he was busy cowering with Mina and watching from a distance in a protective circle of holy wafers while Jonathan did all the work. Jonathan rode on horseback like a boss, shooting Dracula's henchmen and decapitating Dracula with a Kukri knife.
Sex also has always been a topic of modern vampire films and literature. Especially during 19th century, your only chance was to wirte a vampire story when you wanted to put sex into your story if you wanted to prevent a stir. Vampire bites have always been described as something erotical. And also, vampires reflect the wishes of the society. In 19th century, it was normal to stay together with someone for all your life, so people wanted someone who is wild and free and has sex with everyone.
I love this film and all, I think it's my favourite adaptation of Bram Stoker's story, but man is Reeves horribly miscast in this. He gives no sort of reaction whatsoever of Dracula or any of the usual stuff going on. Even when he see's him crawling across the castle walls give no reaction at all. It's just deadpan all the way through. And less said about his 'English' accent the better.
dlwst44 I know right? You see a guy that was just in your room crawling on the roof across the way like a fucking spider and you OPEN the window? Who the fuck would do that?
I read the novel seven times, so I guess theres no need to re-read it for me. Dracula can't be a pheriperal character. Without him, the whole story wouldnt work. The fact that he doesnt appeart that often in the novel doesnt mean that he cant be a main character. As I said, the film is an interpretation, and Bram Stoker actually doesnt really tell whats happening between Mina and Dracula. He only tells what Dracula does to Mina. You see, theres much space for interpretation.
I never said that she loves Dracula, but still there can be some kind of love story. What if Dracula loves Mina? And if Stoker's story was all about Jonathan and Mina, why did he call it "Dracula", then? Why did he make a horror novel out of it? Actually, you can't really say who is the real main character of the novel because Jonathan, Mina, Arthur, Dr. Seward, van Helsing, Lucy and Dracula all play an important part in the story.
