@@chefvr6 just switch the dsg over to full manual and you have the same thrill as a normal manual gearbox. Really don't understand why people will want a classic clutch compared to a dual electronic clutch.

It's not for me. Over styled and very bland sounding 4 cylinder. I'd rather have a good old school honda that revs high and screams up top if we're talking honda. I could care less about a 400hp awd civic that's a rumor and has electric motors in the rear (ill pass).
All companies make mistakes man, the more complicated the design of the engine means more work. Vw definitely over complicates things but for a gti I am pretty impressed. For a stock type r I am also fairly impressed... I imagine the stock clutch is pretty weak on that honda to say da least
In this video the TCR is the winner, it’s clear that the TCR wasn’t launched properly, there is No delay with the car and it’s DSG gearbox... there was definitely a delay with the driver.
If a launch control has a 2s delay from the moment you lift up your foot from the brake, then why not lift it up 2s before race start to compensate. No way can a Civic Type R beat a TCR in a drag race. Come on guys do it again!!!!!
Honda will never put a DSG box the type R. . The type R is about being a real hot hatch and making it an engaging experience for the driver. The Honda will always lose time during a manual change compared to a DSG box.
Would totally defeat the point...the Type R is a car designed entirely to be fast and engaging on a track, a DCT would make it a bit faster sure but less fun and to be honest they tip the scales towards serious more than fun as it is. If you want to go fast in a straight line, FWD is a pretty silly choice anyway. I say all that having seriously considered an FK8 Type R earlier this year, but it was disappointing on the test drive. Not bad by any means, but too serious and sounds pretty awful. Very practical and surprisingly comfy though. I bought a 981 Cayman S instead because screw practical and comfy, I want to go broom broom and drive like an ape ☺

Fully agree with you there man. I have 2020 golf gti and even in my 169kw it's possible to have "days" worth of wheel spin if you fail to launch control properly. There's just so much power on the front wheels.
OK, so how many times do you need to launch the Golf before you realize there's some lag and compensate? Why are you guys so bad at this compared to literally any foreign publication.
After all these years it still gets me how there is never a switch in drivers as we all know reaction time is essential in drag races and would like to see how both the drivers fair in both the cars against each other which could finally rule out all your dislikes and constant complaints. Come on guys..
Great bants, race wasn't fantastic but if I want to know how fast the cars are I'll Google it, I'm here to be entertained. Everyone seems obsessed with the slow Golf launch, but if people can't work out that the Golf is slightly faster by looking at the footage then that's on them. I enjoyed watching.
1. I liked how straight to the point it was..some people make drag races longer than 10min. 2. As much as the reaction time was off by a sec or two...I blv the Golf was not supposed to be on launch mode to start with..given the other car was on manual. 3. I blv more camera angles wld do..not just in a certain area of the drag race. 4. Great job cars.co.za team

Golf tcr is basically a golf R with fwd, false power out put 286hp, more likely 300hp+ like the Golf R +plus 100kg lighter, dual clutch transmission, launch control, still lost to honda type r civic manual shifting transmission 306hp+. Type R civic fk8 Still boss of the hot hatches.
The type R clearly jumped the start... with that said... Guys it would have been nice to repeat the race. I'm left thinking the team just wanted the golf to loose. SAD!
Imagine using the gti launch control and flooring it. Thats just gonna spin for days, gotta ease into it. And just single race? I may be getting spoiled by carwows videos lol.
How long does it take to redo a failed drag race..?? 5 min? 10 min?? If I must watch a video (after the annoying adds), and this is the result, I guess we are too much asking for a redo before a post. Really annoyed with this.....
Even if it did win which it never, around the first bend of a track its pretty much over for the tcr....in fact proven to be faster than any production golf around a bend.

You should've done best of 3 drags. Also, it's 1 of 300 in SA, not the world. Europe has the TCR's in bulk, not numbered, with Akrapovic exhausts, start buttons, GPS on the digital cockpit🥲 #volkswagenSA pulled us a fast one.
It was about 70 days before the TCR started to launch, the type R was already near the finish line before the TCR had started to spin the tyres off the start line. Worst launch/delayed reaction ever.
Why does the GTI constantly launch late...? Either there is a problem with thís specific cars' launch mode or with the driver. The GOLF was só late off the line that it could in all probability have clipped it.
I agree with guy's that said about golf late launch , but maybe it was the bestest launch control they had after many trials? The automatic is automatic you can't have many choices, the manual gives you more choices, it's slower but it's always on driver side.
