Trying to bring another back to life! The car is toast but we have plans for the drivetrain! This one has been sitting for 25+ years and has been off in the woods for 18+ years! Might be crazy but we’re going to try and get it running! Thank you for all the love and support! Thank you to the subscriber for the new intro! Hope you all enjoy!

The MG Midget is a great car and I been in one that was immaculate, but wasn't allowed to buy it because of how cramped it was, as I am 6.2 feet and barely got in and out of the little nugget, so I decided to stick to the Midget's big brother, the MGB.

Richard Cline I agree with you, I would like to see her restored too, there is far more good metal on this than on my car I am restoring on my channel, which was far more rusty before we rebuilt the 1974 shell with new old stock ford panels, but i have spent thousands of pounds so far, and I given this channel is "budget builds", they probably do not have the cash to do it sadly.

I have pulled my fair share of MGs out of the woods over the years, and that one does not look too bad. Needs a bit of welding on the sills and the usual rot spots, but I bet she will run no problem.

Sitting with an open roof for 18+ years & sunk into the ground, I'll guarantee the floors and frame rails are gone. You didnt notice the right rear wheel up in the fender? Spring mounts gone. Its not worth it when you can buy a driver for 5 grand.

I really enjoy your videos. In 1980 at 16 I bought my first car, a 1971 Blue MG Midget for $600, I was 16 and in love with that car. The car didn’t run so I literally pushed it home. It took me most of the summer to get it running, but I’ll never forget the moment it finally started.... magic. I drove it for a few months before it died and I regretfully sold it due to lack of money, but to this day 40 years later I still have the MG bug and smile whenever I see one so watching you bring them back to life is great fun.

Had the '69 version 50 years ago -- same color, same wire wheels, same twin carbs (also overdrive and a trunk rack). The plywood saved the interior from utter ruin. But these cars rot under the best of conditions. IMHO, where its all original, the car is probably worth more intact than in pieces (to an avid BL collector) -- good luck bringing this baby back to life.

Definitely a car that made the pages of history, considering over half a million of these were made in the course of 18 years, with 3 out of 5 of them sold in America. I own a last-year 1966 MGB and it's very reliable, even with the stock exhaust, carbs, and engine. The one thing I do not like about these earlier models, however, (before 1968) was the 3-synchro gearboxes, in which 2nd gear usually failed because of a brass baulk ring, that later had a recall at the end of 1967.

Surprisin' izn'it. In certain parts of the US of A people parks their cars (like the Camaro) and plant a row of trees along its side so that when they come back from the mall they can be sure its theirs.... Only issue here is that the beer at the bar seems to be flowing a 'lil bit freely in some states and they spend years findin' them damn carsz agen ..... LOL. Wassup people of youtuuube ? - That guy just cracked me up :-) You can just hear the guy's father: "Well Gomer; this here's a projekt me an' your Ma initiated 25 years ago. Juss checkin' out if these 'em cars wouldn't grow in the back yard y'know. They sold for gold back then y'know, only take a looong time to grow. In fact, don't look to see like they grew any son.... don't look to see like they grew any." This is a blast :-)

I am really glad that I came across this channel. I have had my share of MG's. Three Midgets, and four B's. Currently my 76 represents what I have been able to keep, and keep married. Nice that you were able to recover this example in one piece, but I doubt that you'll be able to redeem the complete car. The 1800 engines in these were nearly bullet-proof, so you should be able to get it to run, but it's not gonna be too easy. The twin carbs pose a reasonable amount of finesse all on their own. Very glad that you were able to save this specimen. The running gear and drive train are well worth saving, as there are fewer of them remaining. Keep up the good work.

Seen worse restored back to use in the UK. You see people restoring these and minis back to show finish, sometimes it seems that the registration plate and badges are the only things left of the original! Reckon that engine would go nice in your Nash kit car . Use 3 in one oil to top up the SU dash pots, what we used to use in the UK for the 1.8 B series engines.

I'm guessing a lot of those in this country are using heritage shells? In the UK, you don't need to leave a car out in the woods for 30 years for the whole bottom three inches to dissolve like that, just drive it in winter on our salt-encrusted roads 😪

The only reason I have slight doubts is the smell of gasoline in the oil, that indicates leaky rings, but since it was made back in 1970 or '71 (the model-year is newer), it was built with more concern about durability, it just might run. Your daughter is adorable, God bless your little family!

Been a while since I first saw this video, these MGB's were once numerous even in New Zealand although RHD ( like UK ), not only did they come in 4 cyl, but 6 cyl & V8. A larger displacement would seem more enticing to pursue, however this looks like twin strombergs ( typical period UK ), will watch to see how it goes.😎👍👌

Brings back a lot of good memories. My first car was a 71 mgb - gt hardtop. Dual SU side draft carburetors. Bought with the original British racing green, I repainted a metallic gray a couple of years later. The handling was great, the rack and pinion steering was the best. I'm not sure If every model had an oil cooler but my car did, never had any overheating issues. Eventually "souped" it up, put in high compression pitons and a 3/4 racing cam. Also removed the original SU's and replaced it with a huge 44 weber, could fit only one because I also installed headers and the new intake manifold was to big to fit another. However, that being said I had for almost 30 years. When I got married didn't have the luxury or the money to maintain. Left in my parents front yard for another 10 years, as it was falling apart someone came by one day and wanted to buy it for a parts car. Sadly I let it go, as it was being towed away I remembered all the good times I had in that car, still miss it. it. Thank you for your video, I wish it was 1971 again. My car took a lot of abuse, I'm saying you'll be able to start it, can't wait for Part II.
