The real "Wardaddy"
Serving with Combat Command A of the 3rd Armored. Pool and his crew (his"pups" as he referred to them) which he would keep for his career, would account for 270 kills including 12 tanks and also bag 250 prisoners. In 81 days of combat operations Sergeant Pool and his crew would go through no fewer than three tanks.
The First a M4A1 75mm in service 23-29 June 1944 was knocked out by multiple Panzerfaust hits. His second Sherman a M4A1 76mm in service 1 July - 17 August 1944 was destroyed by friendly fire from a P38 Lightening. His Final Sherman was another M4A1 76mm in service which according to some sources was knocked out by a hull down Panther on the Siegfried Line on the evening of the 15 September 1944. Though Pool himself will recollect the destruction of his tank and wounding that would cost him his leg credited to a 88mm flak concealed in a barn. It is unclear with information available to me which is true.
In my tribute to this largely overlooked Tank Ace we will be building Pool's third and final Sherman. Using Dragons 1/35 M4a1 76mm/W to create representation of Pool's second "In the Mood "

Thank you Michi ! The oils took me on a bit of wild adventure but really added great depth and is something I will experiment more in future builds ! But far its my favorite Sherman to date !

@@longlance67 Yes many folks even in the US dont know about US Armored Aces like Staff Ssg Pool Right on!!!!!
@longlance67
@longlance67 5 лет назад
they never seem to have the near cult following of the German aces, and even fewer people know of Sgt Harris of the Dragon Guards who knocked out 5 panthers with 5 rounds in a firefight in Normandy

thanks Al ! hope it gave you some ideas for you to experiment with to see what style of weathering suits you ! the music is often the most tricky part of any video, I like the piano theme as its soothing and better represents how I feel when I build a scale model ! thanks my friend !

Good vid shane and a great result! For me, oils are the most versatile and easy to use medium for weathering and effects,limitations applying of course.

Very nice work Shane. That stowage, is it from Legends by chance? Like camo pattern. I think the 2nd AD used it as well. Very nice weathering and filters. Can't wait to see your next build! Will it be a Sherman?;)
@longlance67
@longlance67 7 лет назад
thanks mate, well spotted indeed ! The stowage is indeed from Legend, well worth picking up as you get enough to really deck out two tanks per set ! hahaha Perhaps ;)

Question, is that Legend stowage set? Great video, & work. Currently working on this kit. Thanks. Regular subscriber here.
@longlance67
@longlance67 5 лет назад
aye it is indeed, it is a good set with plenty of extras for other Shermans, just be sure to wash it thoroughly as there is a lot of release agent on the resin

I've never knew vallejo matt was resin based u always thin mine with there thinner to stop the tip dry and spitting it works perf once thinned with there airbrush thinner.
@longlance67
@longlance67 3 года назад
though I've found with their matt varnish that it starts to spit resin after a year or so, so I have switched to their Premium Matt Varnish and thin it with flow improver with no issues at all
