It comes down to preference Alarak. I personally enjoy the Assassin Special, because if you build it right, you can kill almost anything in 10 seconds.

yeah it comes down to preference. Personally I find Tempest is great with dual wielding especially as it increases your reaction times and Artificer is great for Archery because the enemies have to bypass you traps before they can close in on you. Assassin can work with both but it's down to how you spec your character I think. I think I may not have specced my character right when I went with assassin which is why I'm trying archery with it now.

When you reach Skyhold, after re-entering it from your first visit, there should be a quest for you at the War Table. Something along the lines of "Teacher for the Inquisitor" or something about Specializations. If it's not there, then your Power might not be high enough. Afterwords, three new NPCs will appear in Skyhold in a cutscene, talk to them and accept their quests, then finish it. You can only have one specialization however, so make sure you pick right. I was able to record this by saving before turning them in, then reloading to record the other classes. It's how I'd recommend testing them out, to find out which one you prefer.

You can unlock and finish the quests for all of them, but you will only get one to use

no you can only choose 1 specialization per playthrough

There are a few master works that generate Guard on attack. With a Rogue's DPS, you can gain Guard pretty quickly. I believe the one I used was a Fade-Touched Obsidian, that gave my +5 Guard on strike. It became a common master work on all of my weaponry, across all of my characters.

Well it's a good game. Game of the year in 2014 when it was released in fact. I still play it got a playthrough on the go atm in fact who I'm planning to make an assassin. Although in my case an Archer assassin because I tried it as a dual wielder and couldn't make it work right so I've decided to try it as an archer. I think I can make it work though based on how I've specced my character. Just need to unlock the skill tree itself. Only need the deathroot now as I've got everything else. I did have trouble initially finding the Assassins you have to kill for he tokens but I did eventually find and nail them

Tempest is the worst

mine is probably Artificer but then when I'm a rogue I tend to be an Archer. But I do try to mix things up and use everything in the game though

Isn't there an item sold in your base that allows for respecs?

I think the mod allows them to respec their specialization as well, not just their skills

I prefer to commit to a spec as well only committing to 1 makes the game worth replaying but then I like to play a little of everything.
