Including a non-runner for the run showcase adds a lot of value, IMO. He basically acted as the audience surrogate, asking questions that I was actually wondering about myself as I was watching. I guess it also helps that he asked good and relevant questions and did not derail the explanations - which could have also happened.

I still think this is one of the best games Bioware has made, iirc they're making another Dragon Age game but I would be happy enough if this one just got a faithful remake

I totally agree, however they might find a way to completely fill it with microtransactions, buyable outfits, boosts, etc. etc. I think we're way better off replaying this one with some graphical and QoL mods.

DA:O was something very very different from 2 and Inquisition. I was very disappointed with the sequels

iirc, there were some parts of Dragon Age 2 I liked and some of the were characters were cool... But I don't actually remember much except that it was boring and disappointing by the end (and had some bad game breaking glitches)

Same, but Denerim doesn't have driver support (like all the old Bioware games), so it tends to crash a LOT. Stops me from revisiting it.

Is it required to recruit Sten to the party? Its fascinating to me that they were able to talk to Sten pre-Landsmeet, did the game just assume they'd recruited him?

I love Dragon Age's world and lore so much more than Mass Effect, and is a much MUCH better series as a result of that. It's amazing seeing a game that took me 20+ hours to beat completed so fast, even if if it is glitched to hell and back.

"Being a mage is so much better." -- Pretty much every MMO or RPG in existence. (There are obviously exceptions. Like if running Skyrim without doing any glitches/exploits.)

In runescape, magic is the top of the combat pyramid ( magic range and melee) I do find this to be a universal standard imo I think it's just hard to balance

I don't think the speed running community is massive for DA:O. I have searched for the same thing and found no results, I'm also curious to see how they deal with the severe difficulty spikes on Nightmare.

I've seen a few glitchless runs on youtube but they end up being ridiculously long (like 9 hours iirc) so it wouldn't be very feasible for gdq

There is an all treaties category which is not glitchless but it at least does the whole main story. At one point letters (one of the commentators) attempted to route a 100% run, but it was extremely long and I'm not sure if any runs of it were ever actually completed.

I've played dragon age origins on console exclusively....and on pc it looks and runs like a brand new game

I played Origins on console until this year. It’s seriously so much better on PC. The textures are better, combat and tactics, even some enemy placement is different. Plus the ability to mod is a big plus.

I think that from the second playthrough and on, you get unlocked specializations from the previous ones. At least that was the case for earlier versions of the game.

i know it's late but i just got dragon age origins ultimate edition on steam from a friend, and it's still buggy with the graphics, but neither the attribute glitch not the teleport thing worked out for me, and the ui looks different on my version too so they seemed to fix some things. wanted to harass my friend by running nightmare made using those tactics xD well, just gotta enjoy playing casually

How do you play this game without crashing in 2021?? Got a state of the art gaming pc and this game keeps crashing on me 40 to 50 minutes in :( love the run btw!
