tried to have my Inquisitor romance Scout Harding thinking the heart choices led to something but ill just have to live with Rook being able to take up the mantle instead lol
I'm glad someone finally brought up Dorian about this topic. He literally was the definition of sophisticated/noble necromancer who had the most hilarious sense of humor and a big heart underneath it all.
@@LeapyearprojectCassandra mentions them if you decide to make your Inquisitor a Necromancer, she has a weird uncle that is a Mortalitasi, weird after he became one by the way, I hope she's there so my Mourn Watch Rook can say hello.
Nothing will be a better kick to the face to the "misery loves company" crowd than Veilguard actually turning out to be a good game and a general success for Bioware.
I am definitely so intrigued by Lucanis as he seems he would be so good to romance with all of his character depth. Also, I cannot resist the purple wings. I saw those and was like oh wow, so cool. I have to know where the purple wings come from.
I get that, there are people who only want to make for example a male character. and they will feel cheated if they cant romance every character. but personally i liked that different characters used to have specific tastes, i like that sera was only interested in other women. i liked that solas was only interested in specifically elven women. it fleshed the characters out and made them feel more real.
I would love nothing more than to see the game be successful! Dragon Age is easily one of my favorite RPGs. Great video Kala. I appreciated the character round-up (but my wallet doesn’t! I stopped collecting the comics after Knight Errant, now I’ll be buying the Wraiths of Tevinter anthology AND The Missing to get caught back up! 😂)!
Torn between Emmrich, Neve, and Lucanis as my first romance, but I plan on eventually romancing everyone. I'm so excided that we're getting deeper interactions with companions because I absolutely love all of them!! I cant wait to see more of them and get to know them in game!
I just can't get over Morrigan and Flemeth (possibly Flemeth) not being in this one. Their whole story and how so much of it ties into many different things in the previous games, is shocking that they will not be in this. It really upsets me 😩
I’m so excited for this game. I used to obsessively play Origins and all its DLC in my teens. Enjoyed DA2. Inquisition was fun but didn’t feel the same as Origins and 2. I hope this game can be somewhere between
Originally I was planning for my Grey Warden Warrior to pair up primarily with Harding and Bellara to fill the holy trinity. Now tho… I think I’m gonna sub out my rogue for Lucanis. Bro was really cool and is one of those “cold” blooded assassins with a conscious and I think that’s gonna make for some great dialogue and diverging quest lines/decision making. Def want him to be best friends or his equivalent with my warden. Bellara tagging along probably as my romance option. Thanks for the video.

I'm really excited and happy that we're getting so much information but the fact they're giving everything but a release date has me slowly growing concerned that a delay is going to happen. But maybe that's just the games industry making me cynical lol. Great and informative video as always Kala, I only discovered you recently but you have quickly become my go to source of information on these things.
I've wanted to romance Varric the whole time but alas... I am now torn between Harding, Taash, Davrin, and Bellara. I cannot wait to know more about all of them.
Oh god… I liked Lucanis from the first time I saw the trailer, but oh my god and I ever sold on him now. Coffee addict, assassin, violent but with a heart, and surprisingly funny. 🎉

They don't looks suuuper great as companions as past dragon age games. Just hope their personalities aren't boring or their characters aren't dull. Because in the past the characters were so compelling and intriguing to talk to. (Some not to much) but they were great. These ones don't look too memorable. I'll give the game a shot once it comes out. I'm curious as to why Varric looks like that. Just have to wait and see since I do love dragon ages games.
Currently leaning toward Lucanis, possibly Emmrich. I'm so looking forward to this game. I've been trying to find this kind of info about the companions to try and see who catches my eye the most.
I will say, Taash at surface level just sounds like male Iron Bull. Like in a copy/paste-not-a-unique-character way. Another Quanri... Who's a warrior.... AND they love fighting dragons????? Groundbreaking. I hope I'm wrong though.
I can't wait to meet each of these companions, and I plan to romance each of them eventually. However, first I plan to romance Emmrich, Lucanish and Davrin. I already have my Rooks planned out for romancing each of them. To Romance Lucanis I'll play as a Tevinter a city elf Mage Rook who is secretly an Ancient Elf, and he is a member of the Shadow Dragons. For romancing Emmrich I have a Nevarran Dalish necromancer who joined the Mournwatch after he decided that being a Keeper wasn't the future he wanted. And for romancing Davrin I have a former Saarebas planned who is half-elf from his mother, and half Kossith from his father but thinks that he is just a short Qunari. He ended up escaping the Qun and joined the Grey Wardens, so I am interested in the unique dialogues and conversations between a Warden Rook and Davrin and how that ties into their romance.

So far they seem intriguing, but somehow.... too nice. I thought we all found it funny how abrasive and even set-in-their-ways bigoted DA companions could sometimes be. Certain Anders approval points or Vivienne/Sera characterization, anyone? Hell, I ship adoribull so much partly because they have to exchange like 30k racist insults (mostly Dorian tbh) before they even begin to develop sympathy for each other, because that makes so much sense with their background. Like, was it necessary to clarify that Lucanis "only kills the baaaaaad mages uwu" in a certain interview? I would have liked to find that out in the game after having all mage companions suspiciously eye him and snipe at him for 20 hours. Or not find that out at all, maybe he hates mages genuinely and we can have some terse dialogue and disapproval points over it? Idk, I love the design and concepts for all of them, but they're severely lacking in edge for me so far. Harding we know canonically to be an absolute sweetheart so barring some serious character arc I'm writing her off as a tension-creator in the group, but the rest? *Pokes with a stick* give me something! Hopefully in the next months before the release.
The companians feel too unflawed and goody-goody, wheres the casual racism against my Elf or Qunari character? Wheres the mage intolerance? I feel like they're fluffing down all the darker aspects of the franchise because maybe they're scared of offending their audience? But if their audience has been here since Origins then they should be expecting it from DA
@@blisterwort I do try to pace myself, because we obviously can't know the intricacies of inter-character dialogue from promo material. Like, who could tell from trailers just how much Anders and Fenris would be all up in each other's faces, or how Solas deliberately steps on Sera's toes, or how Dorian goes from antagonizing the qunari as savages, to falling for one. Such things are impossible to know before we experience them. But still, these promo materials don't raise the intrigue, it's almost as if they're designed to calm us down and reassure us that everyone is getting along and ready to save the world.
I'm on the fence if I'll romance Lucanis or Davrin on my first play through, although I really want to try all the romances (as if I've ever been able to try a new romance in dragon age after I've found my favourite)
Very good video, and not to sound weird but your voice is soothing and puts me to sleep sometimes.😅😬 As for the companions they all sound fascinating. I'm curious to see how a Qunari Grey Warden is explained since that's what I'll be running in my first playthrough. Like is our Rook the first Qunari/Tal-Vashoth Grey Warden, or If we play another background will we encounter one, or Darvin will explain it?
I wonder if Harding will make any comment about Cole. On my Inquisition world state she and Cole kinda had a thing by the end (I chose options that made him more human and less Spirit)
Highly unlikely, since nothing about Cole is mentioned on Harding's wiki page. Are you sure you're not thinking of Maryden, the minstrel at the Herald's Rest in Skyhold? I'm more concerned that a potential Inquisitor "romance" with Harding won't be mentioned at all, since my canon inky is in a relationship with her by the start of Trespasser.
I want Davrin to Romance and he will Journey with my Elven Mage that uses Spellblade and my Mage will be a VeilJumper as well !!! I think my Fellow VeilJumper is my 2nd companion!!! My issue is they cut us a companion so how will we open Chests with one slot on my team down since my Fellow VeilJumper uses a Bow will she be able to unlock chests ? Will they blur the class lines for that !!! I always thought it was so Stupid for Mages who could Tear the Veil and Summon Storms and Singe off your eyebrows or through your Armor but we can’t unlock Chests ? What do yall think ?
I'm worried some of the companions will be boring honestly the crow aka replacement for zevran and varric and harding and maybe the old guy are the only 1s who have potential to me 😅 but I'm trying not to read in to hard till Dec
Interesting that Illario is 'performing' rather than seeming genuine. Perhaps Lucanis' death had to be staged, and Illario with all his flair for the theatrics is going a little overboard with his 'grief'
5 minutes into this vid and it seems more likely that a theory that has been taking place in my mind may be what’s happening. That theory is that Dragon Age is going to return to the beginning by restoring Arlathan and removing the taint from the Golden City. In Dragon Age Origins we learned that Arlathan was magically pushed underground by the Taventer Mages. Perhaps it was actually driven into the Fade. We also learned in Origins, especially in the Dalish Elf Origin story, that humans and elves use to live together in peace and that they were simultaneously attacked by an unknown enemy. Solis is the only one who was actually there and he wants to restore the world by returning Arlathan to the Elves. I would like to know what you think.
I know it's weird but I save romancing the companion I like most for later. I might pick Neve for my first playthrough and save Lucanis for later. Thanks for covering all this Kala and I'm glad your doggo is doing better!
they got the lucanis is a 'mess' part right.. really hope you can just not hire all the companions and side with solas instead. outside of dorian and solas from inquisition dont think ive seen a good dragon age companion since da2 .. harding might clutch it otherwise will have to wait til the next game for a non cliche/statement making companion
I'm going to do two different playthroughs at first. The first one is going to be based in my second canon world that had a romanced Solas since I wanted to see how the inquisitor is going to play into the game. For my second playthrough it'll be based off of my first canon world with a romanced Dorian. As what I did with Inquisition, Rook is also going to be a set of twins in these two playthroughs. I normally play as a rogue so instead for my first playthrough of the game, it's going to be a Qunari Warrior while my second playthrough will be a Qunari Mage. They're both brothers this time. As for romances? I'm kinda stuck on that one, I really like Davrin but I also like Lucanis but Taash is too pretty, maybe Taash the first time around and then Davrin??? I can't pick!!!
They're all so beautiful and interesting in their own way... Neve looks like a model, ffs! So far I'm planning for Lucanis to be my first Rook's beau, but Bellara and Emmrich might derail that with their charm and whimsy 😅

Who comes back in the game beside? Varric and Solas, do you? Think any of the original characters are coming back from 1 and 2 and 3 games. I hope to bring the hero of Ferelden back or hawke, and does anyone know if? the inquisitor is coming back?
