Dragon Ball FighterZ in 2023 - REALLY The Best DBZ game? 

Nah this game looks and plays better.

No, it's embarrassing. Now I know why he and my brother are bad at games by default. I always beat his friends in every game as well, and I really think it's partly because they're not calm enough when playing.

I casually played at launch, but life happeend and I fell of the wagon. Is there still an online community? If I log in, will I find matches easily?

It's still the best one so far rating-wise and newest natural storyline up to date version of its anime material. Not to mention one of the top two or three best fighting games in history 🤣😂.

Some of the best characters aren’t even DLC. The game isn’t hard you’re just bad.

That's with most fighting games you either get good or simply don't play them at all

fighting games tend to be the most sweaty tryhard/genre when it comes to online. I prefer playing the single player or couch co-op.

Cant compare a Budokai or Tenkaichi character to FighterZ. Those former games are very shallow while FigtherZ each character has alot more depth and thought put into them. You can either have quantity or quality. I prefer the latter.

@@daniellee-poy3371 You have a point, however, prior to FighterZ, no one was asking why Dragon Ball didn’t have a presence in the competitive fighting scene. As great a game as it is, I would rather have fan service than an EVO-ready fighting game where 70% of the full roster is locked behind a paywall. It’s more of a commentary about how anti-consumer these practices are, and how out-of-touch developers are with fans. Nobody but games journalists complained about the Budokai/Tenkaichi series’ lacking depth. The fans just want to see their favorite characters pummeling each other.

@@Bananeurysm At that point you have games like DBZ Kakarot, Xenoverse and the announced Tenkaichi 4 for the more casual player. I don't see an issue having both because clearly with FighterZ 10 million copies sold its safe to say that many people love the game. In the FGC that year it was a phenomenon to finally have a competent DBZ fighting game that it had the most viewership and contestants. Traditional Fighting games don't usually have all the characters because it takes time, effort and money. FighterZ as you said is a competitive fighter so what goes into each new character takes a lot of development. Do I like paying more money to unlock characters? No. But do I like my game to be supported for years to come? Yes. If you don't like the game not launching with all its characters then wait for the complete edition.

I’m offering criticism of these tactics that are not only anti-consumer, but also carry an air of spite towards the fan base, and you’re hearing, “the game is bad.” It isn’t. It’s a very well made fighting game. However, when you compare to the similarly-competent competitive fighter, MK11, you’ll see that the DLC characters do not equal almost half of the full roster, most of them are there for fun, and even the ones who hail from earlier entries aren’t fan-favorite mainstays despicably put on digital marketplaces to siphon the money out of your account. Dragon Ball has millions of fans all over the world, who love dozens upon dozens of these characters, with a great deal of fan favorites being paid DLC. It’s shady. And again, IT IS NOT A BAD GAME. Criticism exists so you can say, “this is pretty good, but it can be better.” If you believe in spending well over the standard $60 just for a “complete” game, not a collectors edition, cool. I’m glad the current business model works for you. I don’t like the idea of spending that much on a mere fighting game. I’m not wholly against DLC, if the content is significant enough to warrant the purchase. But almost half the roster? HALF? If the base roster was 3/4 or even 2/3 of the way there, we wouldn’t be debating the pros and cons of digital robbery. MK gets a pass because the extra characters don’t necessarily impact one’s overall enjoyment, but also, they only bring the roster from 25 to 37. Compared to going from 24 to 44, you don’t feel like you’re missing out on as much, and therefore, feel less obligated to spend more money. Once again (I have to be sure this is understood), I’m not saying it’s a bad game. They’re trying to bring the fighting game community into Dragon Ball, and perhaps vise versa. Yet when you the fan base is conditioned to expect ~100 characters per release, regardless of the quality of the mechanics, we’re gonna feel cheated. Period. It has its rightful place in the pantheon of great fighting games, but when people think back to their favorite DBZ game, it’s still gonna be one that allows the fans to live out their fantasies. It’s a Dragon Ball game for fans of Street Fighter first, and fans of Dragon Ball second.

since its the labor day sale, the legendary edition (the one that includes the game + all the DLCs) is cheaper than the standard one

This is why I'm glad I didn't buy it on release but buying it and dlc on sale is the bomb. I don't understand why there's a 100 dollar version because a lot of the stuff other than characters is useless
