It’s the best dragon fruit grafting video I’ve ever seen on RU-vid. I just saw it completely, it was a great course, I learned a lot from different types of grafting, rootstocks, varieties, shoots. There’s not a better video on RU-vid for learning techniques about grafting dragon fruit. I’m out of words, excellent job!
Can someone explain why id do a seedling graft? on like trees it would be pointless as its young growth. Is it the opposite for DF. Does it end up fruiting faster?
Great video, Paul! 3:25 Here in Brazil we also use this type of grafting (twist and pull). It is widely used to change the top cladodes after the plant is already developed. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xk_r-O9ti9A.html In this video above is an example. He is taking a branch of the "Golden of Israel" species and grafting it into the white DF Love your videos, hugs from Brazil
I didn't know you could seed grafting DF! Do you recommend seedling grafting for Yellow Palora/ Yellow megalanthus? Or should I just stuck with cuttings?
Paul, l am also from San Diego but moved to the North 5 years ago. Your show is amazing and thanks for your tips and all. Hope that someday when l come back to San Diego for visiting, l can see visit you and see your dragon fruits. Have a great day Paul.
Very good informative video. I will try the diffrent ways to graft my dragonfruit. Do we really need to add a bag after grafting them ? Just curious because i dont think plastic bags where available along time ago. Will try it with and without them. Thanks and happy Gardening. God bless You.
Thanks, if you can keep the graft in the shade and away from the wind, you can go bagless. If sun exposure is unavoidable, try a paper bag or make a cardboard shade structure for 2 weeks and then introduce the graft to more sunlight.
It should be fine...I use organic components, but have read that people have success using higher NPK. I don't fertilize much in San Diego during the Fall and Winter. If your climate is warm and the plants are growing, they should be able to uptake nutrients.
at 37:03 you show an Asunta rootstock graft. why wouldn't you remove of of the shoots so that the grow and energy can go up and thick on just a couple stems, instead fifteen of more?
Is a Adult plant to a seedlings 🌱 cuttings is pointless? Adult cutting fruits fast from seedlings take longer . a young plant to mature cutting is faster fruit. Just saying
I found it on eBay... The only amazon one that might work is this... www.amazon.com/TRRAPLE-Cutter-Degree-Cutting-Plastic/dp/B08LG2WJBV/ref=sr_1_32?dchild=1&keywords=v+weather+stripping+cutter&qid=1605597724&sr=8-32

I tried once and it looked good. A bird landed on it and broke it off. I'll try it again this summer. I've seen it successful online, but I want to see for myself.
