Dragon fruit update 2023.2: The very first flower bud of 2023 is from.. New idea for a shade screen.

In the past 3 years, the very first flower bud of the year could be spotted on late March or early April, but this year, everything seem delayed. The usual candidates, such as American Beauty or Bruni showed no flower buds yet in almost May. While the "late bloomer" Palora showed flower buds ahead of everyone. What a surprise.

I noticed something when I looked back to this video. At around 2:49, I spotted a tiny flower bud from Asunta 4 which I missed before. What a wonderful finding! However, even with this new finding, it doesn't change the fact that Palora is still the very first variety that put out flowers in this year.

Hi. I spotted that one too ! maybe the weather, and also it seems like there is a lot of young and old (spent) branches has to do with the flowering delay ? Though quite often, my megalanthus are showing the first flower buds... Hope you'll get plenty very soon ! Thanks for sharing.

You have to remove top soil and add new compost on top...

Is your 5 sided dragon fruit a dragon fruit or was it a cactus? Your dragon fruits are very impressive!
