It was honestly such a nice detail that they let you meet each arisen that chose a different path at the end of their quest, seeing the arisen who decided to take power become a king, seeing the arisen, who decided to just live out their life end up living in a cave giving advice to other arisen, and the one who chose neither and ended up curse on bittetblack isle!

One cool thing about dragons dogma lore too is that with every new playthrough the cycle of eternal return is reflected as each new character you make will have to fight the previous character if he/she won against the seneschal.

I don't know if you knew this, but if you do NG+, the arisen you used to defeat the Seneschal takes the place of the prologue Arisen. I thought that was a really cool touch of the first game.

Didn't notice before but the dragon for DD2 has what looks like a crown on its head. This would explain why the title card for the game itself has a crown-like symbol above the dragon's head.

The Seneschal tests us in several ways. We wouldn't be fit to lead if we weren't: 1. Brave 2. Pure of heart 3. Selfless.

An interesting note about pawns becoming human via bestowal of spirit- you can see thousands of selves flit from nowhere and coalesce around the former pawn. Considering your pawn can canonically be in another world and your world at the same time, it stands to reason that they lose this power by way of their newfound human nature!

It would really be cool for them to explore defeating the dragon as a main quest but also work in your pawn becoming human with yourself choosing to sacrifice yourself for your pawns ability to become human or not throughout the story.

Hopefully they flesh out the lore and tell the story better in DD2 because for the majority of the game when I first played DD1 I was like “wtf is going on” and by the end I didn’t really feel anything. Still don’t know wtf is up with some of the characters like the Dragonforged. Would also be nice if they gave us a reason to want our heart back. Because it seems like just a boon tbh. Maybe make it to wear the raisin displays fading emotions, lack of feeling, and uncontrollable power. Idk

Omg i finally found this channel again!!

One fun detail is that if you become the Seneschal, then when you do a New Game +, that previous playthrough's Arisen will be the Seneschal you encounter at the end.

Spoiler warning for DD1 DLC: . . . . . . . . . . In BBI the main bad guy is a "fallen" arisen named Ashe. Without getting too longwinded he found himself in a very unique predicament with regards to slaying the dragon. His mother figure/mentor was the previous arisen who failed and became the dragon who antagonizes him as the next arisen. His most important person is his mentors pawn whom he fell in love with after she gained the bestowal of the spirit. In light of this, Daimon unwilling to slay the dragon (his mentor) or give up his beloved... choses to "curse the whole world" and "reject everything." Unfortunately this "wish" can and is granted... albeit in a twisted manor. The dragon slays his beloved and morphs him into the final boss "Daimon" doomed to corrupt the Isle that "exists in a plane outside the common world." I really enjoy this as it provides an alternate path, unfortunately, not one we can choose and also adds to the intrigue and depth of the story,

It's an interesting backstory for the lore. I wonder how DD2 will expand upon this. Maybe each nation will have their own arisen vying for the spot as the next new god. looking forward to watching you play through the game.

What happens to the dragon if the raisin excepts it’s deal? Grigori says he’ll “leave” but I’m pretty sure his boss wouldn’t like that and I’m also pretty sure that makes no sense given that Duke Edmond made the deal and then the dragon is born at the start of the game……

Since DD2 is what Itsuno's original vision was, I do wonder if we will get a Dragons Dogma 3 down the road...

Was hoping DD3 can be about the worlds outside the eternal cycle as now it is broken, hinted at by the seneschal in the first game's ending. Maybe it will be thematically like bloodborne, making contacts with eldritch forces outside reality and explore beyond the rift, now that there is no seneschal or pathfinder the safeguard the world.

if their different worlds then how come the castle that comes out of the sea, if you run around in end game in the unmoor area it looks like gran soran or how ever ya spell it from the first one? i seen a side by side video earlier comparing the two and im pretty sure it is

My biggest challenge on the gaming side this week is that Horizon Forbidden West and DD2 are both releasing on the same weekend on PC.

I guess DD2 confirms that canonically the Arison in DD1 did not decide to “end the cycle”. Since the cycle is still going… Unless even the Senischel is exclusive to each world so there’s actually multiple of them and when one decides to end the cycle it doesn’t end then all. Ugh.

Does this mean Dragon’s Dogma games can take place in a more modern era or post-apocalypse of a futuristic era?

How cool would it be if you die at the end fight (and dont use a wake stone) then you get turned in to the dragon and have to fly to a spot where you fight solders and choose the next Arisen, effectively starting the game over.

Some Story Relevant Ruins look very similar to Gran Soren

Considering we literally see what is clearly the well at the fishing town of Cassardis and the beach itself when fighting the dragon in the flashback of this game when you go to the site of the aftermath..... This location of this whole island is clearly Gransys just with a different history and path taken to lead the land to be called Vermund instead and the beastren finding their way to this area as well. They literally keep saying it's a parallel world and parallel worlds are the same but different and these differences are either small or grand and in this case the difference is grand but it is the same world and location as Gransys!

It's a little confusing as to what exactly incentivizes the Dragon to go around choosing Arisen, he's basically choosing his killer. If I'm the dragon, I'm just chillin' in a cave somewhere, if I don't choose anybody, I guess I'm good, according to the lore.

A Seneschal is a steward for a lord. The fact that the godly beings is called The Seneschal implies that they are acting as steward of the world on behalf of a creator deity. This “Maker” seems to be absent.

Cool so you can pick a pawn and at the end you can take your life and your pawn becomes human.

Wait, if you end the cycle and there is no seneschal, what happens to the world(s)?

Here is 2 What ifs, What if you and your pawns are Twins? Your pawn becomes yourself being the same as yourself. Would that not be the same person in the end? And What If, You find the truth about this whole thing and decided to drop your weapon and say "No. No I will not do this anymore, I will not be baited into this ridiculous fight. I want no part in this whatsoever, You can take my life if you must but this is all pointless in the end. Either we stop fighting and work something out or we accept our fate and be doomed forever. But I will NOT part take in these silly games I may be strong but I am no fool. It's not cowardness but a realization that someone or some thing is playing games with us and I don't find it funny. "
