I remember I was having trouble at school because I used to get bullied for being asian which made me insecure about my race and heritage. But when my dad showed me this movie and I learned about Bruce Lee, I became proud about my culture and background. Bruce really put on for the asians in this country and he also broke every negative stereotype against asian men. Thank you, Bruce.
@@strahinjadjordjevic7614 Sorry, but I don't understand. I suggest attempting to communicate a bit clearer because your gibberish is making it hard to understand what you are trying to say.
I love how Bruce apologized about the guy's father dying even after dude was being hateful. Bruce defended himself yet he was still very respectful. And that's what's amazing about this scene imo. Of course I love the fighting but the fact that there was more depth to the characters is even better.
yes , the scene is all aboute the fight , its aboute as you said , the characters in the scene ,background . follow the rumors , instead of the facts , much better , ye right .
He also was merciful on the bullies as he did not use excessive force, just enough to defend himself and also teach them a lesson not to pick on him again. He was pretty much toying with them.
Bruce Lee was a great orator, it's like his mind and body were supernaturally fast on the matt, and his tongue muscles and brain would bend any which way. If aliens existed and if they knew about our puny humans, they'd surely pick Xiao Long as our prime specimen. I just think of Bruce Lee as the ultimate thinker, and I'm a master of philisophy by education. Had he lived in different time, he wouldn't have felt the need to kill himself in proving that the railroad builders are just as good and valuable as each and every one of us

@ Anthony Taylor Well, Hand to Hand combat is the very essence of fighting. Try Jeet Kune Do and add some Martial Arts skills and knowledge to your equipment.
I honestly loved this movie as a kid, I really liked the humor they added in it. Its’s different from Bruce Lee’s movies but it’s one of the reasons I enjoyed it.
Bruce at one time admitted to a close friend he often regretted having a quick-fire temper. He would have non-verbally gloated being the victor, and only sometime later thought circumspectly. That was one of the appealing aspects of Bruce -- he could see his own errors, if not always overcoming them.
@@nics3lbow Yeah nothing was more dramatic than the real story but fair enough, it's hard to do in 2 hours, let's just play up that cursed angle and add a ghost shredder, brilliant
He was good and had the charisma but he was too big to be Bruce Lee. Bruce Lee was 5'7 and about 130-140lbs. Jason Scott Lee is about 5'10 and has a bit more muscle. Don't get me wrong he's a great actor. Apparently he is a JKD instructor. He did a documentary where he goes to train with some Shaolin Monks. I was surprised to see that he isn;t as flexible as he is in this film.
@@kungtony yeah buddy! In this time Lee was using bodybuiding and strenght training in his prep, gained more size. But later realized he was heavy and slow in scenes, worked to get more ripped and athletic, as we can see in the movie. Jason is really tall, but in this film they used camera angles and plans to 'make' him small. Unlike when he made "Soldier" with Kurt Russell in 1998. He is a really good actor, hope he gets sucess in "Mulan".
I love the next scene. The guys chase after him, apologies and then asks if he could train them lol. Funny how you can learn respect for someone else after you fight them.

Of all the attempts to portray Bruce Lee over the decades, Jason Scott Lee truly captured the essence of Bruce better than anyone else ever did. Bruce would be proud!
A lot of people hate on this movie because it's not really accurate to Lee's life but I will tell you something; this movie is what truly introduced me to Bruce Lee way back in 93 or 94. I was 13 or 14 when I saw it. I was a shrimp in school and bullied a little (not as bad as some others). I bought Lee's Jeet Kune Do books and practiced daily. I don't think I ever got that good but it helped my confidence. I even started standing up to my bullies. All this because I watched an inaccurate movie about Bruce Lee's life. I haven't done any of that in a long time; but it's still some awesome memories.
It's only inaccurate if you're taking everything literally. So instead of doing that, the whole film is supposed to be SYMBOLIC of all the elements in his life, I mean they gotta jam his whole life into two hours. The various scenes and events in the film are not always literal, rather they are only representing the type of real things in his life all mashed up together.
This scene and him fighting the ghost shredder thing were the 2 most accurate things about this movie 😁 but who wouldn't watch it every time it's on? I bought his book 25 years ago, I still plan to read it someday 😁
Anyone can beat a man down. But sometimes, the best way to **truly** put a cherry on top of the sundae is to be the better man, and be gracious in victory.
@@gregrock7451 I know what you mean. You have winners and you have good respectful winners. And then you have bad losers Not only In the sense that they have lost, but in the sense that they are also very bad at their loss . despite the fact that they have honestly lost.
As someone who grew up watching the real Bruce Lee, the saying, often imitated, but never duplicated, comes to mind. I can only describe him as lightning in a bottle!
“I’m no bastard, I’m Bruce Lee!” That reply is the sickest reply I’ve ever seen in this movie, and Jason Scott Lee really played the legendary martial artist to a T. That comeback line is definitely what the real Bruce would say.
I wish Bruce Lee was still alive today. No telling what his philosophy would be on the social and racial injustices of today. "Sorry about your father, that was north koreans, I'm an american." I wish we all had that mentality!!! RIP BRUCE

Would have liked to see the next scene. The thugs chase after him, Bruce puts his guard up to fight, but they just ask him to teach his fighting methods.

@@zaialcrisostomo4090 The closed caption says "Wait. So sorry". But it sounded, to me, that he said "Wait. So solly" to mock the guy by playing into the guy's stereotyping of him.
I was gonna be in this fight, and I was tired him him running his mouth so I pushed him. He fell backwards kinda, got one foot under himself as he went backwards. I can still see it in slow-mo. so, he got one foot back there to catch himself THAT made him go another step backwards and he went thru this door that went into a restaurant kitchen. .... the door the servers come out with your food. It swungs in AND out. So the door swings in, allowing his body IN, then as it swings out, it catches his jaw right behind the ear. To this day the Sheriff in Colorado thinks I one punched the guy.

Usman Ramay. He did Jungle Book. And you're right; he did a good job playing Bruce Lee, even though the resemblance isn't there. Actor Danny Chan (who played Bruce Lee in IP Man 4), looks a lot more like Bruce Lee than Jason Scott Lee did.
