New shirts and hats! sharkrobot.com/collections/te... SIR! We are TRYING to give commentary on this episode of DBZA! Episode 21: • DragonBall Z Abridged:...
I always loved it that the flashback to the captain started with "Jeice" and not "Team", meaning only Jeice has had problems with dodging repeated punches to the face
Indeed, respectable attention to detail and proper safety precautions. Though correct me if I'm wrong but I thought it was specifically the yellow flash effect from Pikachu's attack added to the strobing red and blue that caused the seizures not the red and blue themselves.
save for the japanese because everyone is inbreed and looks the fucking same (just kidding, but it's still plenty strange than a lot of the population had epilepsy, guess those friggin atom bombs our country threw at them had lasting effects, and due to not having enough land to create more cities, they just had to patch the giant hole and rebuild over it, sheesh.)
@@jeremygilbert7989 yep, rapid flashing of primary colors took a lot of irradiated children down... well, they live over the aftermath of an atom bomb so... yeah.
My favorite comment (not mine) on the mishap was along the lines of: *Episode starts to play* “I feel like we’ve been here before. Have we been here before?” *Episode continues* “Oh my god, this is happening again!”
@@StarlitWitchy HFIL establishes that Nappa did go to the afterlife and didn’t linger around as a ghost since his photo is up on Raditz’s wall, so unless he found a way to also project himself from the afterlife…
The running gag of Goku calling Vegeta his best buddy is honestly one of my favorite things ever from dbz abridged and I still reference it today whenever I talk about their dynamic 😂
I specifically remember sitting in the hospital after surgery when this episode came out, and laughing so hard it hurt at Jeice being repeatedly punched in the face. Good times. This episode holds a special place in my heart for that reason.
Highly disagree, Frieza has so many good lines that this is B tier at best. Even the one before that is better imo "I'm surprised we didn't hear banjoys because everybody is inbred and looks the fucking same." Or "Honestly if this shit goes any further south we are going to hit space Mexico"
@@rekc_bcq4816 Fair enough, I just think Frieza is perhaps the funniest out of all the characters in DBZA so it seems a bit weird to me. Sorry about that.
@@suckieduckie It was an unnecessarily defensive response on their part. Where there was an opportunity to have a discussion, on an internet comment section weirdly enough, they threw their walls up and shut down that chance. Best we can do is pray for them, their life must be hard. You did nothing wrong and I appreciated your insight.
@@suckieduckie It’s alright. I also think he is one of the funniest characters. Of course this isn’t the only line I like. I love most of the lines he has. This one just feels like the culmination of a bunch of funny bits from Frieza and Zarbon that made me laugh along the way. I’d say the best bit from Frieza is probably when he’s counting the times he’s heard certain lines from people he’s killing. Even if my favorite isn’t “the best” per se, it’s just the one I enjoy the most
I love Jeice’s elementary schooler rant about getting the captain to beat them up. I don’t know why exactly, but it’s always made me laugh really hard.
I commented this on the episode, but I re-watched Dragon Ball recently, and there's a scene during the General Blue arc where Krillin is fighting Blue, and Goku is looking for them in a cave. All you can hear is generic punching sound effects, no yelling or cries of pain, just the sound of a fight in the distance, and Goku says something along the lines of "Oh no, it sounds like Krillin's in trouble!" That immediately made me think of this scene.
You can tell how proud they were of this one episode from the fact they narrated half of it. And they should be proud. Freeza Saga was a huge turning point for T4S and I'd say episode 20-21 is basically when they really hit their stride.
Yeah the fan consensus for years has been Ginyu Force as where everything finally reached its potential. Can't argue with that, everything from this point on is gold.
“Well that was fun! But where are the fighters?” That’s one of my favorite lines of all time. Really underlines how Goku just thoughtlessly wiped his ass with the Ginyus
Am I the only one who gets genuinely a lil sad at Burter's death here? The bromance between him and Jeice being broken is just too much for my little heart to take sometimes 😭(the two of them being reunited in HIFL makes it more bearable tho)
I remember in the original forum that TFS had where I wrote "I can see Goku repeatedly punching Jeice in the face." I must've read their mind because a week later it aired. Lol BWF
the thing that always threw me about it though was these guys should be strong enough to carry it with one hand, does that mean jeice was lazy and wanted to pawn it off on someone else?
Considering that Bulma, Yamcha, Tien, and Chichi all tried to beat up or even kill Goku, I'm pretty sure that's how Goku thinks people _become_ friends.
I remember that Jeice punch bit was the very first exposure I had to TFS, so seeing them lose it just as bad reinforces how excellent that bit is. Sold me on the whole thing in a minute.
This episode has my favorite characterization of Goku in it: Carefree, absent-minded, and all-around good-natured, but WILL kick your ass. Also, this was a much better Denny's advertisement for me than any commercial could've ever hoped to be.
4:09 That reminds me; Didn’t Roshi read Nam’s mind at one point? And wasn’t that also never used again? Looks like Goku took another technique from Roshi. “Ever get that feeling of Dijon Mustard?”
I should also say that the writing leading up to Burter’s death is brilliant. Jeice and Burter’s wholesome moment provides some nice character development that contrasts SO well with the suddenness of Goku’s attack that, when combined with his nonchelant attitude after, makes for some of the BEST dark humor I’ve ever seen.
9:25 - Well, this has been disproven when Trunks thought that his bulky form would be able to kill Cell, so yeah, today we know that a bigger power level doesn't necesserily mean faster, just stronger. Of course, they couldn't understand this concept at the time as they were too confident on their strenght to try and achieve ways to get even stronger, after all, they were confortable being Freeza's soldiers.
GOD, I love their writing for Goku so much. "that's right Gohan, I am here"" is just so perfect. I genuinely dont know how many times I've rewatched this series, but Namekimania are the episodes I could rewatch every day. Im so glad they started doing these commentaries
I'm gonna be so sad when they finish this commentary series. I know there's a lot you guys would change but thank you eternally for what you've created.
What’s funny is that they made another character, power-wise, like Burter in DBS in the form of Dyspo, who was also part of a sentai-esque team. This time, Dyspo was successful in being fast but still succumbing to the “higher power level=higher speed” theorem.
@@juanferrer5924 They did simple overpower him but no Dyspo had speed and reflexes as he has to hear the movments of his opponents to know when they are making a move and beat them to it which dose´t make sense as the characters moves faster then sound XD
I think it was in original DB when Roshi says, "Minds are like books: they're easy to read if you know how." Anyway that's the best we get as far as all the kind reading and telepathy
I still reference “I fell down some stairs” to this day. It’s crazy how much of my humor has been based off tfs. I’m only realizing this just after rewatching it with you guys ❤️
My cousin didn't get to learn to speak English but could eaisly understand it and he really enjoyed watching DBZA and this episode was one of his favorite ones. Also, he really had a blast every time SuperKami guru showed up
I always felt Goku knowing Krillin spouted out quack noises was so funny lol Always made me think if there was an abridged on just og Dragon Ball, that the quack thing would begin there
I love that I can see the passion from you guys even this many years after you made it. I see the same love for the series that me and many of my friends have shared over the years.
I appreciate the effort to make sure you don’t actually make people get seizures from the seizure procedure. Very considerate. (I’m not particularly susceptible, but appreciated all the same).
This episode means quite a bit to me. A video of Jeice getting punched repeatedly in the face was my introduction to you guys, and I laughed my ass off, so it really makes me happy to get to see it again. And to see that you guys loved it too.
Goku on Namek is peak Abridged to me, the absolute height of good-hearted dope with super powers, the way he breaks every villain’s brain is just hilarious.
Hi guys. This show really helped me a lot during most of my darkest times. I spent a lot of time watching a re-watching, and I wanted to thank you all for it. I love watching it with you and with your insights on how and why some of my favourite moments were made, and I love watching Scott lose breath with laughter over the bits that I laugh my heart out during as well. You guys created a masterpiece, and it was something I really needed in my life to stay alive. A massive thank you and a big warm hug to a family I never met. Renegade for life
The best part about that "quack" that allows Goku to identify Krillin is the implication that Krillin's done this before and Goku recognized Krillin's technique.
@@rwbyab7423 Luck isn't involved, they mentioned for Wednesday's that they're doing them on Wednesday and Saturday now. Makes sense, it's the only way to balance the longer episodes with the fact that 1/week would take literally all year to get through.
I thought they were just repeating the beginning part, it took me a little bit of time to realize it was a re-upload. DBZA is what really helped me appreciate the Ginyu Force as characters.
Love the pace of these videos! Weekly releases was great but now you're at a great section and I feel like it's getting easier for you too. Keep it up!
That ending conversation with Tetris is probably one of my favorite moments of the whole abridged, like I'd just love a normal sitcom with there versions of these characters just bouncing off each other.
7:52 PISS! 8:48 oh here we go 9:36 the change of look 10:02 lmao 10:50 lm the music 11:08 brh 11:22 the mommy call lmao 11:53 mass effect reference,oh yeah already said it 12:23 goku sticking out the hand’s pretty funny to me 13:02 really? Favorite on all this is a big word👀 13:06 ayy nice
The repeating punches to the face bit is just comedy gold. I edited that scene for a little project (replacing the characters with stills of others, first time doing it) and it came out pretty well.
I freaking love you guys, I love this series and love the review.. I was watching the latest video and was like " damn, I got to wait for a week for them to uploaded episode 21." But u guys did it! An Early Upload!!!
Thank you guys for everything. I loved every second of dbza and hellsing ultimate abridged. It's awesome you guys are going through every episode. I'm having a great time watching you
Something that brings a smile to my face is when they start mouthing along with the lines or just outright quoting in time to the words, even when it's not characters they played. It's just a little thing that really shows how much time, effort and love went into DBZA.
Man, I think this is probably my favorite early episode. Fall down stairs, batman dende, goku time, sezuire procedure, and just everything about this episode is the best.
