In the real world example, imagine a father eating, sleeping, and then only working out every single day. Never spending time with his son because working out/training was more important. It becomes a natural instinct for the son to want to be noticed so he tries to follow in his dads likes which is exercising/working out. Up till this point his son was more of a nuisance barely noticing his presence while training and exercising. The son does a feat which shocks the dad bringing new light to his eyes. So for him going to the park even for just an hour to spend actual quality time rather than being in the gym is the best gift in the world the son could ask for cause to the son, his dad is a untouchable god and the greatest person in his existence.
@@jorydwilliams-negron59 Because Future Trunks had to learn how to do it through extreme stress and leveling up. Vegeta’s younger Trunks hasn’t had to fight or go through anything to become a super Saiyan. It was unlocked automatically for him because Vegeta had already achieved it. the Vegeta from the future trunks timeline didn’t already become a super Saiyin by the time he fathered future Trunks. It’s also the reason why Goten was a super Saiyan already because Goku had already unlocked it when he fathered him but of course he didn’t do that when he fathered Gohan.
In Super Goku is trying to drag Vegeta away from his family for training while Bulma is pregnant and he's having none of that. Meanwhile Goku has no issue knocking up his wife and then refusing to be revived.
@@Uncle-Jay He realized that villains keep coming to earth when he’s around, He p’s keeping his family safe by staying in the afterlife, and considering that was supposed to be when gohan became the mc it was supposed to happen
@@GeorgeTooCur1ous The Gohan was supposed to become the main character thing has actually been revealed to be a fan made myth. But yes Goku refusing to be revived. Was actually supposed to be a plot point that was going to be used to expand Dragon Ball beyond Earth. Which it ultimately did. While Gohan always had the potential. The idea of him *truly* replacing Goku was only encouraged in DBS. In Z this idea is actually discouraged a few times. During the Cell Saga Piccolo explains to Goku that he is not a warrior like the other Z Fighters are. In the Buu Saga Gohan focuses mostly on his studies while being a hero part time. When the time comes for Gohan to step up. He makes the exact same mistake that he did against Cell. And fails to not only defeat Buu. But to also prevent the Earth from being destroyed. Vegeta who was far weaker at the time. Actually deterred the planet's destruction from Kid Buu at least once lol. And sent himself to Hell to try and destroy Buu prior. Only in the non-canon movies does Gohan actually take over as the true defender of the Earth. Within the Z canon. *Vegeta* is actually the one who steps up as the number one defender of Earth while Goku is away. Which is why he is by far the strongest out of them all. Especially when he becomes an enraged SSJ2 during Battle Of The Gods. I think it was supposed to be a form of both irony and redemption.
@@jamell36 That was after Goku came back and he saw he was weaker then him. Without his rival alive he was content to be with his family even if he never was touchy feely about it.
Wrong. He abandoned Trunks twice. The first time when he was born, the second when he died for Buu (he didn't even have to die either). Piccolo on the other hand was more of father than Goku or Vegeta was to all the Saiyan half-breeds.
@@0doublezero0 Vegeta is still more of a father then Goku could even be. When Trunks was baby Vegeta clearly didn`t cared about anything other than his pride. And I`m amazed you can count sacrificing own life to defeat Buu as abandoning, if that is the case Goku abandoned own family like five times starting with sacrificing himself against Raditz. Also Piccolo never did anything for Trunks, he only took care for Gohan and a little for Goten. Either you trolling or you salty because Goku suck at everything else than fighting.
@@crashpal You been competitive😂 He couldn’t be stronger than Goku so he wants his son at least to be stronger than Goku s Son ! Come on now ! Didn’t give up on his dream yet ! Becoming strongest Sayain alive !
Vegetas story line is one of the best in all of anime history and Chris Sabat is very iconic. He plays Vegeta and captures his vulnerability and strength. Vegeta for life
@@deionrobinson7341 The large difference in age and base power, as well as the age at which it was unlocked. Future trunks unlocked it much, much later.
@@thegk-verse4216 still tho when he saw gohan in time chamber in cell saga. he should know the potential is there for younger saiyans now when their fathers have attained it... that said never really cared much for kids becoming ss in dragonball. deff with vegeta on the wack bargain sale feeling here. 😂
I know, this is what I never liked about the Buu Saga. Goku, Gohan, and Vegeta, and future Trunks all had to struggle and use loss and anger to become super but as Vegeta says here it has been reduced to a childs plaything. It cheapened it.
the moments of those in depth details like vegeta saying hell no my son is gonna be stronger so he secretly starts training him. Those moments are what make dbz a good anime. Goku's humor cracks me up so hard
I love how instead of immediately forcing Trunks to try to be better than Goku’s kid he simply says “Well? What are you going to do about it?” Already being a GOAT dad
Something I feel doesn't get recognition, when Vegeta punches Trunks, given the look on Vegeta's face after, it was probably just a reflex rather than a conscious decision. He does care about Trunks, he's just raising him as a Saiyan, trying to make sure he grows up stronger. Actually, the way Goku and Vegeta raise their oldest kids really shows how their upbringing affected them. Goku was raised as an earthling, so he's much more open with Gohan, while Vegeta was raised as a Saiyan, so he's only ever known combat and has rarely if ever had any experience with being open with another person. And I know everyone is always quick to jump on the "Goku is a terrible father" bandwagon, without actually analyzing the facts. We know Goku is not against Gohan becoming a scholar by his own admission, and saying Goku doesn't spend time with Gohan outside of training isn't fair, because we don't see any of Gohan's early childhood, and from the beginning of Z to the end of it, there is always either a world-threatening foe they have to train to defeat, or Goku is dead, while in Super, Gohan is a married adult with his own life and job, which doesn't leave Goku much time to see him. While Goku is supportive of Gohan being a scholar, he just also wants his son to live up to his fighting potential as well to be able to protect the earth when Goku is no longer around.
Of course it was a reflex. Fighters don't think about each punch or kick they throw. That's literally the entire point of training: to build muscle memory so that you can throw punches and kicks without having to think about it, focus on your form, etc.
Supreme King 17 it's not a bandwagon, it's just a fact that Goku is a terrible father. you don't tell your son to fight a thing that wants to murder everything, on top of that give that thing a magic bean that restores them to peak form then just watch as your son gets the shit beat out of them, followed by all of his "friends". not only that but he spent so little time raising him.....he was always gone, making the choice to stay away rather then be around. Gohan not wanting to fight is very likely a result of wanting to stay by his family because his dad was complete and utter shit about doing that. i mean Gohan is more of a father to Goten then Goku is. to say Goku is morally fucked would be a understatement. seems more reasonable that Goku only "saves" the day because he's looking to fight...not because he actually intended to save the day. Vegeta has done horrible shit and that should never be forgotten but when comparing Vegeta and Goku as fathers, it's not even close....Vegeta is FAR better and shows an actual interest (outside of fighting).
Like respect in all honesty. Vegetables had that setting at 100x earths gravity. If grown man goku at the start of saiyan saga was barely hanging on at 10x then trunks was definitely doing better to walk at 100x
Trunks running around so happily is so fricking adorable. Also, this is one of the moments where Vegeta shows his love for his son and it’s glorious. That’s dadass🫡
Look at his face after he punches him. It was probably a reflex. He couldn't admit to it but in that moment he was scared he did something he couldn't take back. He's lucky his kid was strong enough to take it.
@@one2many1030 Sure goku isn't perfect but he's a better person than vegeta is because goku didn't go from planet to planet wiping out it's inhabitants like vegeta did
with the gravity training room and vegeta for a father and the information at hand i would of expected trunks to end up ALOT stronger then he was in the tournament
Vageta was able to sense power levels without a Scouter after having 1 fight with the Z Fighters in Earth. Saiyans are quick to learn skills from eachother after being around other fighters.
This scene is made extra funny because us viewers knew how much Goku, Vageta and Gohan had to struggle to attain this form. Whereas kid trunks and goten just casually turn super and possibly surpassed their dads and brother in that form (only ssj1)
kinda crazy how trunks can walk around 150x gravity in his base form while Goku struggled and had to slowly progress with nonstop hard training to get to 100x during the frieza arc
Scenes like this makes me so sad because it's when you realize how quickly after this both Goku and Vegeta gave up on training their sons. At the end of this clip we got the hint that Vegeta was gonna personally train his son to be much stronger than Goten as sort of an ego thing. And Goku wanted both of them to be the new protectors of Earth. Not anymore unfortunately
The new protector of earth thing was not working anyhow. Gohan was supposed to do so first with Goku being gone since he believed he attracted all these evil people. Which obviously didnt work out as seen in the buu saga. Goten and Trunks never wanted to be die hard fighters like their fathers but only always just goofed around even if they wanted to fight strong fighers (completely oblivious to the danger. Not even Goku is that dumb, at least not as long as he can sense the ki of his enemy). Even Gohan wasnt all too keen on it but was still a saiyan somewhere. And then the whole God stuff started which pretty much made all of them obsolete to begin with.
Yeah, logically Gohan should have been the main character. His power level easily exceeds everyone else in the series, but Toriyama made him a throwaway character that is just a family man who only wants to fight when the universe is in danger of being erased/has no choice in the matter.
Can we all just stop for a second... & try to imagine Vageta in his Pink shirt taking Trunks to the park for an hour, lol I can see it now... arm crossed.. looking mad.. while his son is on the swings enjoy life lmaoo
Kinda strange to believe this short clip was more father son bonding time than we seen of Goku with both his kids combined. Training with him, he played a "game" with him and took him to the park. Anything outside of training Goku wants nothing to do with his boys lol
At this point of the show the Super Saiyan transformation still could've been kept consistent with the explaination that a child of a human and a Saiyan who can transform to Super level will be a prodigy as a fighter. Unlike lowering it's meaning by a tangling sensation in the back.
Vegeta: "When was it that the transformation to the legendary warrior of the Saiyan race was reduced to a child's plaything?" DB Super: "Oh we can do worse with it."
Future trunks going back in time messed up the whole time line in a way. This time Vegeta was present in Trunks life and as we see he's training him. That's probably why trunks achieved it faster this time around.
@@oscarvillarreal8951 Of course. But we still don't know what happened to trigger it, as that is a requirement. For Gohan it was battling his dad in the time-chamber, for Goten it was training with his mom. There is no story of that happening for regular Trunks. It would be nice if there was.
@@joyl7842 the s cells goku and vegeta built up over the years passed right to goten and trunks so it isn’t hard for them to transform without the anger factor like gohan who was born when goku was weak even though goten got his from anger it wouldn’t have mattered he would’ve just had it anyway it kinda ties to the back tingle thing with cabba but it’s not that dumb
"When was it that the transformation to the legendary warrior of Saiyan race was reduced to childs play-thing" -Vegeta is speaking for all of us there :D
Indeed. Their fathers had to undergo immense training, get severely beaten up near death and even died to achieve the legendary status but now it's been reduced to a child's play
"So.. What are you going to do about it?" "Guess I'll go, Super." *Vegeta's jaw hits the floor as Trunks makes him look the fool* 😆 Also, technically it isn't the first time he went SS, he and Goten would train as Super Saiyans in secret before this, they were trained by Gohan.
The writing got terrible is what happened. Around the Buu Saga. I stopped watching. 20 years ago DBZ probably was the best anime. The writers gave up. Now's it all about video games and card game promotional crap. For the money of course. Super even copied Team Four Star. Made Krackarock an idiot and Vegeta a super asshole. Imagine that.
