Dragons Dogma is one of the most underrated games of all time! Dark Arisen was an absolute beast in its character build and team building to be successful. The best part is, eventually you get to a point where you know the enemies and they can STILL give your team a run for your money and catch you slippin'. Looking at you, Daimon!!
How on earth is it underrated???? What’s one example of it being not given the credit it’s due. My guess is you were probably too young when it came out and so just don’t remember it cus it was hugely popular.
@matts5247 I don't know where you live, but it definitely wasn't popular until PSN carried it as a free game. I didn't know anyone else who had played it until then.
@@matts5247 not really, ppl just too immersed with witcher 3 and skyrim back then, mind you that the DDDA released few months after skyrim and it got eclipsed by skyrim
@@VanquistI mean Dragon’s Dogma 1 has cool combat but everything else about it is pretty mediocre or downright bad. The story and writing is awful and the “open world” is basically a bunch of hallways with monster spawns. I think it’s accurately rated.
U dont need ro know the fact dat its probably gonna b rough or even trash money on console cause its recently been shown to b running @ 20-30 fps!!! Capped @30 on console. If u playing on PC then u good money!!! Sounds like console version gonna have performance issues. Idk bout u but i cant even olay @ 30 anymore lol. Already got it in the bag on steam, hopefully u do as well.
@@samnyce that’s a lie, where was it shown to be running at 20FPS? Do you know what an unlocked frame rate is? It means it can go as high as 50-60 on console and the lowest would be 30FPS. The director confirmed an unlocked frame rate he didn’t mention capped at 30 FPS at all.
@Nikzedik93Yeah, imagine my disappointment when i couldn't find the armors at the local merchant after spending hours fighting those three Trolls at a very low level, lol.
The one save slot exists for a few reasons, 1 no save scumming (it's a singleplayer game so I don't think that should matter too much, but it sorta makes sense with the pawn system) 2 This series has New Game Plus where you can remake your character (and change class) every time you start a NG+ (a lot of games force you to use the same character/class each NG+). 3 They don't want you making multiple pawns, it clogs the system and if you could make multiple pawns you could in theory have a full team of custom pawns that you personally made instead of mixing with the other player/dev made pawns.
They could easily fix that without fucking their customers. 1 limit your pawns to 3. 2. Limit your saves to a playthrough. Meaning you can only have 1 save per character, but have multiple characters.
They can still limit to fewer saves by using always the latest timed save for pawn upload. I think its just laziness. Save scumming isn't a valid thing because RPG players love to do that.
This doesn't screw the customer. They are very open about how this works. Dont like it dont buy it and not liking it is fine but dont lie about them screwing you over@domomonstero3077
4. If it's anything like the first game, you can switch your class and passives on the fly, so you're not locked out of trying different classes or subclasses with only one character.
I will say that even after 12 years, I know the dragons dogma map like the back of my hand and thats because of me actually walking through it. So when I revisit the game, it's still fresh in my memory banks
Same. I have a love/hate relationship with having to traverse the entire world over and over, but it really did make the experience more fun in the end
It was absolutely one of my favorite games back then and I lost track of how many times I went through it. However my first time playing the game I was playing Dark Arisen and didn't realize what Bitterblack Isle was and went there first. I'm a stubborn son of a bitch and grinded my way through Bitterblack instead of coming back when I was higher level.
Excellent point. Like you, I know the intricate details of the original's map, but I couldn't tell you anything about the world map in say Elden Ring or other open world maps with fast travel. But forcing the player to actually travel on foot does equate to knowing the locations. Someone could ask where a certain quest or item is in the original Dragon's Dogma and I could tell them exactly where it is. But Elden Ring would be the exact opposite and I would have to look up a guide, despite playing it multiple times.
@@paranoyd70 i definitely agree! This is another point to creating a more grounded traversal system. I think back to the difference between BoTW and ToTk. I felt BoTW works better in terms of exploration cause you had to manually get from point A to B and the only means were your glider (tied to stamina), walking/climbing, and horse back (you had to catch your own horse). And then you eventually earned your fast travel. With ToTk, while they had a really cool crafting system with ultrahand and the zonai builds were absolutely amazing, however, i found myself just flying to different places via the zonai device to each fast travel point and then just fast travelling everywhere--essentially just skipping the exploration entirely. It completely lost the "exploration" part of the game for me cause i could fly and it just became a checklist of tasks cause i could fast travel instantly. Atleast in Dragon's Dogma, by time i had unlocked the portcrystals, it was still a limited resource and i had to actually think about where i wanted to place the fast travel points (and sometimes trek there to retrieve the portcrystal) whenever i would run out of ferrystones.
I know it too though not all are good memories. Most are of me backtracking through the same areas while being attacked by the same enemies while managing my pitiful stamina bar. God forbird you travel at night, literally wolves and bandits hounding you every minute.
Same, haven't seen anywhere the information that you can be an elf, same for the pawn, only that the language can be learned by the pawn and maybe you too, not sure
@@TheJiminyJimThey said u can make ur pawns elves but u yourself can’t be an elf. Only have elf like features like the ears and eyes if they have elf eyes 😂
My god i am pumped for this. The first was one of the biggest hidden gems in the last 15yrs imo. Really really hope that this gets a wider audience and we get more sooner lol
I honestly don't remember how I even started playing DD1 but I'm glad I did. I replayed through it a month ago and still in disbelief how slept on this game is. I think DD2 will put it in the proper light I feel it deserves.
@@Fayrinn_09Maybe wait for a review, there’s always people that expect it to be one thing and then end up hating it (mostly because they spent their hard earned money and didn’t fully understand the game concepts etc.) That’s the “responsible” thing to do anyway. I’m gonna get it for sure since I played, and enjoyed, the first one; personally I recommend this series.
No quest markers, no fast Travel , Weight limit, 1 save file , failable quests if you wait too long , no basic dodge roll for all classes this game is for fans and everyone else will be divisive about it and either love it or hate it, hand holding has been a stable for many years now, I cant wait to play this my self, am a huge dd 1 fan
Some of the classes with no dodge, even the fighter/warrior have the shield or can block...Its not quite like Dark souls, you can Jump at the right time to "dodge" enemies. Also no stamina for normal attacks, only spells/special attacks. It appears you will have some movement options that can be used as dodges for quite a few of the classes....in the footage. Still, I loved the first game, although I was not sure how I would like the pawns. For a Improvement over Something like Eldin ring, only thing you GOTTA lockon for is some spells, and its way more intuitive and you actually get to aim ur bow. Controls are also much better. In total Id play Dragons Dogma dark arisen the first game over ANY souls game or Elden ring or any CLONE of dark souls.
Thing is, I do like my hand held at times....and the only one save thing, not really sure what that's about. But still it looks good enough to give it a go. At the end of the day, it's a $70 investment, so if I don't like, I can always tell myself that I have spent more on worse and move on with life.
@@jacobyrassilon Really still one of the biggest downs for many apparently in DD1 was just having to run everywhere and no fast travel. Its not a hand holding game, but its not super complicated. There are No annoying puzzles in the first game, so id imagine this is similar. Honestly in the first game i thought the map was huge, and yet it was not. I hope they filled it with great things to explore, the first game did fine, but it could be improved.
@@thebootybandit6464It’s so much worse when people who haven’t played DD1 do it though lol. Watched a video where someone said DD2 “adds” a day/night cycle, and that it has a single new race, Beastren (acting as if elves were in the first game).
@@bayntedos22 Yes, it is, but it is a game that can be a bit difficult to get into. With Dogma 2 being so close to release then I would recommend having the new game be your first experience. The last game is after all 12 years old, had issues with the budget and had to release a product with a lot of planned content cut.
not saying much because of spoilers. but the reason there is only 1 save file is because of the ending/ new game plus (at least in the first game idk about this sequel)
the director came out and said he only wants one save file so people take their time on each play through and enjoy the world/experience they have created instead of loading back and forth just to get things done.
Nice.... So i want to try another vocation...no problem you just have to delete the char you invested time and effort and try another ...What if i don't like the new one and regret my decision? Ahh ..lol i ll just get back to my previous one...ohh wait!?! 😱
When playing the first one I really wanted to be able to set up camp when traveling. Not in pre-programmed locations with a cut scene but with more control of where to put the tents etc.
Another tip to avoid frustration. Please, please remember the location of the first seeker token you find. I won't say why, I'm just hoping to save some people some pain.
If only Capcom would shadow drop Co-op like a month after release. That would be crazy. Doubt it would happen, but still, this game would be all kinds of epic with actual party members.
I have said this before but Elden Ring/Baldurs Gate 3 have really set the tone for what fantasy RPGs should be and Capcom clearly has done the home work with this game. I am a DMC stan so I knew Hideaki Itsuno would be cooking when I learned he was the director of this game.
He's the only reason the game is happening, it's his little brain-child he's been cooking for the past 20 years. With DD1 they sadly didn't have the technology or even funding to make the full experience, but he's said he's been able to do everything he wanted and more with DD2.
I disagree. BG3 and Elden ring are outliers, and should be celebrated like they are an exceptional, creme of the crop of RPGs. I do not think gamers should expect EVERY RPG to be of the same quality. Rather, we should understand that while they are outliers, they are the absolute best that every other dev should strive to achieve, and even though you can't reach them, you should at least try to get there. BG3 and Elden Ring raises the standard, but they should not be THE standard.
Elden ring could have been better, if they did not Rely on a 1990s lockon system and Gave us Another control scheme besides dark souls 1. Let me be clear, I watched people play elden ring and also tried it abit myself. I watched this dude LOCKED ON in melee swing at a enemy Right in front of him, in range and STILL WIFF AND MISS. Like WTF is the point of the lockon then? To get you killed in a NOW open world game with 20 enemies surround you wile ur locked on to 1? Also CAN'T USE ANY RANGED ATTACK OR ITEM without a LAME LOCKON that has been in gaming since the 1990s bro? Update that shit!
The save thing isn't really an issue on pc since you can just copy and back up one of your saves before deleting it to make a new one. then you can always go back to the old one whenever you feel like.
I know I’m in the minority here but I like the single save system. Provided the stat system isn’t broken like it was in the first game and playing a warrior doesn’t completely lock me out of trying a mage later on due to stat restrictions, single save forces me not to save scum, making everything I do in the game consequential. If I fail a quest because I decided to screw around I can’t just reload my save and do it over, I have to live with it. Doing an honor mode run on BG3 has taught me save scumming removes so many tense moments from the experience.
@GrippeeTV honestly I never used to enjoy single save in rpgs but Baldur's Gate made me realize that it can great for players who want to live with the consequences of their actions. It adds an element of realism and immersion. In DD2, you will want to ensure that you're equipped to handle the unknown each time you venture out into the wilderness.
@@QRM00 exactly. Honor mode on BG3 made the game so much more enjoyable. Simply picking a pocket became a tense moment because I could risk going to jail because I can’t simply reload my save if I get caught - it’s created so many emergent gameplay moments that I totally missed my first playthrough through save scumming, always reloading to get the outcome I wanted instead of the outcome my actions led me to. The single save system FORCES me to live with my consequences and I actually really love it, because I know I don’t have the self control to do it otherwise lol
This is the perfect game for how I play. Just like the first one. When I play RPGs, I don't fast travel EVER, I only use ONE save file, and I never reload and replay sections of a game. Whatever happens, happens. I have almost 600 hours in the first Dragons Dogma and I've never beat it. Skyrim 1000 hours, never fought Alduin. AC Odyssey 800+ hours. I don't like to beat games, I like to live in them, so they mostly never end. Dragons Dogma 2 will be with me for a very long time. GOTY
Listen, I played the original dragons dogma when it came out and I LOVED IT to the bone. The only thing I NEED to know is that DD2 is coming out and that’s it! Can’t wait
I’ll always remember walking down the road and seeing what looked like a little girl pawn and she says well met arisen in the deepest voice possible and walks off had me laughing my ass off
I've been waiting for DD2 videos from you guys! I can't believe it's been so long since I started playing it, been playing and replaying since my first PS3! I haven't preordered a game in years now, but I have a good feeling about this one.... I hope lol
I think the director confirmed there's only 10 classes and they've shown off 10. They may add more in a DLC. Edit: my bad, it seems Eurogamer could've gotten it wrong with the directors response, and the community could have overreacted. Guess we'll only know when it releases
Love that they don't have quest markers or fast travel Asherons call was the best MMO ever and it didn't hold your hand or have quest markers or fast travel The world was mysterious and unexplored which made it great to run across
Ive been waiting for you guys to cover this game I wanna play DD2, never played DD1 and you guys are like one of the only video game reviewers that i trust
What? Have you not been keeping up? This has already been regarded as a reimagining to what Hideaki wanted to do with Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen, so it's effectively already a remaster.
I absolutely loved the original Dragon's Dogma, and I always thought it was crazy how it never seemed to get enough mainstream attention. I'm happy to see this IP finally getting a sequel and the hype that it deserves. I remember being on a discord call with my friends watching the games showcase where they first showed DD2 and none of them were aware of the first game while I was getting psyched. Fast forward to now and all those same friends are aboard the hype train with me and can't wait for release!

Sadly, it's already been confirmed that there is only 10 vocations, which have all been revealed already. However, based off of the way things were worded, as well as some implications, it seems likely we'll get more vocations in DLC.
@theunhappygamer1744 You can switch between all classes in the same playthrough. What do you mean? Also, people were expecting more vocations, because the first game had 9, and considering that 2 of DD2's 10 are just one of the DD1's 9 vocations split in 2, it feels like we're basically getting the same amount. Plus one of the 10 vocations is a jack-of-all-trades that doesn't really provide anything new, besides being all at once. Which makes it then feel like even less. Not to mention that there was so many options for vocations that were available in DD Online, yet they didn't take anything from that. (Really wish we got DDOnline's Strider & Alchemist..) Don't get me wrong though, I'm still incredibly hyped, but I hope that it turned out to be a mistranslation or something.
Warfarer is basically the "free hybrid" builder. I imagine people will have mystic knight builds and sorcery theifs before the second moth post release.
@@DevinOfBacon They said you can switch vocations with out starting a new game? Well thats good. I think 10 vocations is enough, its looks like they put a lot of work into making each one play completely different. Honestly even if I play through the game more than once I seriously doubt I will ever play all 10 longer than it takes to check out the class and how it plays.
A lot of the lore (like monsters) inspired by mythologies. For example, Medusa and Talos are both from Greek myths. I know, I am geeking out - but FUN STUFF!
I haven't been this hyped for a game release since Cyberpunk 😢. I hope this is good. I am buying it at at launch. I never buy games at launch. I usually wait for a sale.
Dragon's Dogma 1 and DLC Dark Arisen were already one of the best rpg games of all time in my opinion. The amount of detail and difference between each class is really breathtaking. It's launch was overshadowed by other games from 2012 and 2013, respectively. This is the most hype than I've ever seen for the game and I'm all for it. Let's go!
Their going away from the min max lvl system according to an interview. With each vocation having its own lvl stat distribution multiple saves arent really needed. The game will also likely have a new game + like the first one allowing you to get missed items/quest lines.
I hope that's true about the stats I hated the fact that in the first game you had to play assassin of all things to get your magic damage up for the lvl 100 to 200 it sucked I would also be good with being given stat points to place as you like
I've never played DD1 but seeing how in depth character creation is really got me interested in DD2, I really like how rpg games really fully create a character unlike other rpg games where you're only create a face and that's it
@@Willup69Controls were a little clunkdy in DD1, there's no quest markers, no fast travel, et cetera. While I know it's a good game it certainly has it quirks designed around its gameplay loop
@@Willup69the pace is a lot slower, you’re walking everywhere and quests could take 10 minutes just to reach not accounting for encounters and things in between
@@Willup69 Additionally as you wander around and take damage your max HP decreases, so you actually have to plan around that and go back to town and rest instead of just wandering around killing everything. Higher level and/or big enemies absolutely _will_ stomp your butt if you are not ready. Fast travel is extremely limited and expensive.
I am really interested how they handle travelling and side content. Most open world games turn to be walking simulators with a lot of filler content even though developers say it isn't their case (except for obvious exceptions but that's like one percentage of all open world games). They could at least think of some fun means of transport (walking by foot most of the time sounds terrible lol)
One of my favorite parts of the original game was being able to pick up and carry escort npcs so you can better control your pace or keep them out of danger. Sure they struggled a bit, but it’s still faster than exclusively following
I like fast travel in video games. Sometimes I don't feel like driving to the location or walking to it. I just want to get my location fast and in hurry. Enough said.
Same, especially because you can choose to not use it. Sometimes you want to fully simulate going somewhere (even if it's just walking back out of some remote location), but other times you may be short on time, or staying up later than you intended, lol.
@@LanceUppercut I play video games 🎮 for the stories, so if the quest marker is on the other side of the map, and I don’t feel like walking or driving, and fast travel is an option, I’m taking fast travel. Enough said.
If travel is actually interesting, then it's great that fast travel is limited. But, if we're talking about a game where traversing the open world is basically a chore, then yeah.
My problem with fast travel being limited isn't that "games are boring", it's that I don't have 300 hours to spend on a game anymore (yes, my free time is a currency) and I'd rather get to the next big thing the game has to offer rather than have to walk there and experience the same random goblin road block I've been experiencing the last 100 hours.
Not really, ur not Locked into anything except maybe some story/quest choices ect. Which there will likely be NG+ ect so just do it different the 2nd time.
My first dive into action rpg was Elden Ring and I’ve enjoyed other souls games particularly borne but nothing has scratched that itch for an amazing immersive open world find your own way experience, I can’t wait to play this game and lose myself in it like I did with Elden Ring, I can feel that it’s going to be a similar experience for me.
Yes and if you take another players pawn that has experience in a quest or region of the map that pawn will tell you about it and give advice as you journey. Pawns have different knowledge of all the games monsters and quests. So a pawn that has encountered more monsters will be able to tell you more weaknesses organically
I just hope they are good directions so I don’t need to open a guide all the time like a few games that try contextual directions and fail. However I’m convinced they will be good cause capcom
@@RyuLightorb that can be tricky to pull off. This reminds me of Outward. I loved that game too. It didn't have fast travel, it didn't have map markers, hell it didn't show where you were on the map. Everything was based off landmarks and you figuring out where you were. I hope this is the same!
I cannot wait to play this. So hyped. I decided to not get FF7 rebirth because I didn’t think I’d be able to finish it before this comes out. gonna have back-to-back bangers.
Na Rebirth was amazing the combat was drastically improved. Now I’m gunna get Rise of Ronin till I hear for a fact from players that this games fps isn’t dipping into the 20s during combat like ign showed
I think the 1 file save is great as long as you can freely re customize the character like in the original cause then you can just chnage vocation and look and just continue mid game

@@therandomfuc that's basically what I did, though most of them were after I was level 180+ problem is, to min max required you to be a certain vocation during certain levels
Im SUCH a fan of these types of open world where the UI is minimal, fast travel is very limited and you need to rely on your own wit ans initiative to find your way. It's so much more adventurous feeling that way, instead of just loading screening your way through the world and chasing markers
I remember playing the original Dragons Dogma over a decade ago on my Xbox 360. My sister got it for me because someone at GameStop said it was like Monster Hunter. I know this game will deliver. I truly hope it will be everything about the last one and more!.... But on a serious note... Beware of monsters Arisen. The roads are far more safer.
Other things you should know: They’ve removed the armor slots from DD1 you now get a slot for the lower body, upper body, helmet, and a cape. The frame rate stays at 31fps but frequently dips to around 24fps during combat. There are 10 vocations, previous vocations like Ranger, assassin and mystic knight have been absorbed by other vocations.
@@Neon-jn3sp unlocked simply means that it’s inconsistent. Unlocked doesn’t mean you can get 140 fps on decades old hardware (consoles) it’ll stay at around 30, maybe 40 if you’re lucky, but once visual effects come into play (flowing grass, hair physics, particle physics) the frame-rate will take a hit and start dumping down to the mid 20fps range.
In rurikhans gameplay video he talks specifically in depth about the performance of the game more then anyone else who played it. In that video he said the game was an extremely old build where they didn’t even have access to the warfarer because at that point the vocation didn’t exist, which would imply that the build was likely over a year old. He also said that the game was running at native 4k with the average fps being around 35 and dropping in big fights, but he stressed again that this is a very old build that there playing on. So besides the point that all the gameplay we’ve seen is on a very old version of the game, the actually performance setting they were using were extremely high for a game at its current stage. Any console game running with those kind of specs are gonna suffer performance wise, he did also say that he can se the game running much better at 1080p and 1440p with a much better frame rate. But please go watch his videos he’s done multiple.
I like how they're saying "we dont have fast travel. People like traveling, your game is just boring." Fast travel in dragons dogma was one of my favorite. You had to earn and set fast travel points and they were tied to an (initially) expendable resource. Not only that, but they weren't JUST a loading screen. You threw a rock up into the air, it cracked open and blew up in your face, then you got the screen. 10/10. Honestly sad they're not redoing it.
Well, the reason they only need one save slot is because you can change your vocation whenever you want. You can level all the vocations with a single character and change your pawns vocation as well. There is no reason to have more than one, you can do everything on a single character with a single pawn.
I'd recommend it. I remember the first one taking a little getting used to in the beginning, but once it got its hooks in me, I ended up beating it over 6 times. Still one of my all time favorite games
Abit less punishing, but can still be a challenge. You can encounter some much tougher and higher tiered enemies than ur level. Exploration is fun and you can find useful gear. Learning how ur enemies work and the environment as well as ur paws is key too. Id definitely try it. I prefer the controls for DD over Dark souls myself 1000%.
i mean you should be able to in a single playtrough, you can change class to a guy in the city and stats get reallocated to fitness it best, so if you don't like a class you picked, you can just change it, you can recasomize you pg too if you want
You can change your vocation/build any time you want. There is no stat system, the only build is based on your gear choice and skill selection, both of which can be changed however you want.
I get it but I'm pretty certain the reason they dont allow for more than one active character at a time is because if they allowed more, the pawn rift would be flooded with inactive and useless pawns that are abandoned, so they never get better or level up etc. its the only reason I can think of for why they'd keep it like it was before
@@KrisOnBassalso having two characters would allow weird game breaking stuff I’m sure like gifting a one of a kind item to a pawn from another one of your characters allowing that character to have more than one of that item.
Im so excited ive been playing Dragons Dogma for 12 years and its finally getting its much deserved sequel, i remember when they had teased a playstation only sequel called deep down or something and it crushed my spirit as an XBOX fanboy, really hoping that with this war between rulers they talked about in the trailer that we and our pawns also get to engange in some massive battles against some humanoid warriors with the same skillsets as us like the bandit lords or Duke troops from the original and that maybe we get a horse of some kind with mounted combat, and please if nothing else keep the pawns dialog and their awesome english accent the samw
Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen was definitely an interesting experience in the beginning because unlike the other RPGs I'd played, they make it really hard to gauge the strengths and difficulties of quests or enemies. So if you're not familiar with the DD world yet, there's going to be a lot of hightailing it out of certain areas while you're still figuring things out. They even even tell you multiple times that retreating is always a good and respectable option since it's really easy to accidentally stumble into an area you're just not ready ready for yet
The original is so underrated, especially at release for years. I will never forget the first time I came up against some enemies after the first town and was wiped out in spite of doing pretty ok fighting. Then I was like oh wow ok game on
Yes, but IMO its way more fair than say dark souls or elden ring, you don't get just Cheap shotted left and right. Its way more tactical and intentional and doesn't piss me off like souls games or ER.
Maybe I will be proven wrong in the long run, but I think there will be no assassin or mystic knight ever, not with these names at least. It seems to me that they designed the vocations around a gameplay with just one weapon and all the Identity of the vocation must be around that one weapon, that must be as unique as possible. But knowing that mystic knight and assassin were very popular vocations before they decided to create the warfarer, which I think is what they meant to cover the multiple weapon vocations that people wish from before. So you will not be able to create a mystic knight or assassin, but you would be to create a warfarer that you can personalize to have at least almost the same feel as these vocations had before
No one talks about story, quests, loot (Armor/weapons and so on) in and RPG. Its so strange for me. Everybody only talks about the "insane" combat and graphics... I have doubts.
I won’t even lie. Out of ALL THE GAMES OUT THERE, dragons dogma 2 is one of the few that I always wished was COOP. And I would have bet that the second would have been coop. Pawn system + coop(simply having more options) would have been lit Not a deal breaker by any means but atleast on that front it’s a disappointment
I loved DD1 and was so ready to break my rule of no preorders for this one, especially after this video. But denovo DRM on PC is gonna be rough; my advice, wait and see how the performance is before buying.
Yeah that's my main concern now, Its the first pre-order I have bought in literal years didn't think denovo was gonna be used, performance always seems to suffer when its included, some games already have been ruined on release because of it.
"Makes a lot of locations draw the player's eye" Itsuno, that can only help slow travel remain fresh for so long even with the random enemy encounters. There's only so many times you can look at the same scenery set piece and go "that's amazing, glad I walked!" This game is gonna be great, but your crap about shunning ACTUAL fast travel is probably the element that would suck the most.
@@dookieman718 Highly doubt those games are amazing *specifically because* there is no fast travel. Also, never said DD2 would suck, just that no fast travel is an element that would suck
I remember playing the first game and using my friends high level pawn. Because it was a high level sorcerer it literally had all enemy weakness covered. Was probably the most fun I had playing a game for a while.
My buddy who told me about the game had a like 115lvl barbarian witha loincloth anda helm and the big 2 handed sword with all the teeth looking spikes on it and no point at the end...we wolloped most stuff for the entire game.
Wow, love seeing character customization that has a GAMEPLAY impact! I've been hoping for that forever. Pretty simple idea, just use a give-and-take slider system; larger characters are stronger with more stamina, smaller characters are more agile and have faster move speeds. Then use a pool of additional character points to lean into their 'natural' stats further, or balance off the extreme edges.
Playing games at 60-120 FPS was one of the major selling points to investing in a PS5 plus monitor/ tv that could handle it, so charging 70 dollars for a game locked at 30 is a deal breaker. So the "uncapped" framerate is nice to hear, hopefully things are smooth
I got this info from another playthrough, so a bit of grain of salt to be taken with it, but during your Races section, at the moment your Arisen cannot be an elf. You can give them pointed ears and make a half elf kinda thing though. Apparently your pawn is the one though who can full on be someone of the elf race. And its one of their skills that translates Elvish into something your character can understand.
Dragons Dogma on the PS3 pieced together my life when I was 8-10, which I recently realized is impressive, as my friend who is also very active in the souls-like genre struggled to do anything 😭
the original Dragon's Dogma is one of my favorite games so i'm totally here for the sequel, just hope the performance is good on pc what with how some of the recent pc ports have been. i also hope i can run it well on my pc, i can get almost 60 fps for the RE 4 remake, so we'll see.
From what CapCom has said previously, the single save file is necessary due to the pawn system. If you had multiple save files with basically multiple differently leveled and equipped pawns, the game wouldn’t know which version to choose to be shared on the global network.
Honestly a good game would throw Fast traveling in there but if the game truly is good people wouldn’t NEED or WANT to fast travel. For example Spider-Man has fast travel and mostly nobody uses it because the traveling system is fun. Same with Elden Ring most of the time. I feel like forcing us to not fast travel is what’s gonna annoy a lot of people FAST. People claim to love DD2 traveling system but watch after a month or two people start complaining and begging for fast traveling 😂 It’s inevitable
I don't really mind having just one slot, as the original let you change class easily, and even completely change your character appearance from the main menu in NG+, so it was easy to play a completely different character on the fly without restarting the story.
Also, to anyone who likes to spend hours on character creation, you can download the dragons dogma 2 character creator and storage to start making your character right now
