In the first game, height effects carry weight and run speed. Wide stomach determines max HP, and being knocked down. And thin stomach increases stamina Regen. Idk if the second has the same hidden mechanic but the pawns are way fine this time around.

Honestly i dont know but i heard height affects stats in dragons dogma xb although i kinda avoid giving my other pawns things in case they die

I promise. There is a teleport system. You just get it once you get to the Other mid point of the map.they actually give you a few from there on. Also...those two lil guys maybe dead or at the midpoint of the quest.

Im near the end of the game at this point and i only got one portcrystal from captain brant.. i know theres one you can get from the elves and i am in the process of doing that quest currently, although just for fun because at this point i already modded a bunch of portcrystals and ferrystones in xb

The tedious traveling is not to encourage buying port crystals. The first game had the exact same system, except without the oxcarts at all.

yeah well, it feels pretty outdated.. its like the game wants to waste your time... its kinda fun the first time you have to take a new road but once you start getting some quests that lead you to places you already visited, the tedium starts to hit :/

@@ruikiri Eh, its a difference of opinion. It encourages you to really explore all of a place and make sure youve found everything you want to do before leaving it, since you dont want to make the trip back for no reason. Plus it gives you a bigger sense of power scaling, because traveling becomes a lot quicker as it becomes easier from you being more powerful. Not to mention finding shortcuts. I really like it personally, even though it can feel rough to find out your quest is taking you across the whole map.

Listen. It's his opinion. Not everybody liked Dark Souls or Armored Core. But theres something that must be considered about Dragons Dogma: Being able to fast travel where ever undermines the loss gauge mechanic. Why would you ever camp and forage and prepare for a trip, if you can fast travel back to town whenever things don't turn out right because of your own decisions? Why get better at the game and your vocation, learning cancels, learning how to make cures for statuses, and combos and strategize your playstyle and avoid damage if you can simply warp out of trouble. The risk is part of the experience. BUT say you don't want to do all that. Maybe you still want to fast travel willy nilly anytime you're in a bad spot. You can still do that with the right set up and some thinking. If you bring a port crystal with you on a trip and still want to go back to town during trips then leave extra ones at towns. Drop the port crystal where you are, use a ferry stone to go to town, Restock or rest, then ferrystone back and pick up your port crystal then continue your adventure. Doing that or going the camping set route takes up about the same amount of space, though you lose out on food bonuses from camping. It may be outdated but before fast travel, there wasn't a lot of radiant encounters either to make traveling more spicy. Fast travel was to minimize the player being bored from just walking everywhere. When you have things to encounter, things to challenge you randomly, radiant quests to save civilians and rewarded for saving them, later on with the Trickster and getting the coin finder augment gives you more incentive to hunt down the coins to gain the rewards from the guild, more time to be fighting things, fighting things upgrades your vocation for you to learn more, getting their drops helps you upgrade your armor and weapons. You literally gain more from traveling. You can always run if you can't win a fight, unlike in Dark souls where about every boss you encounter is a gate keeper to the next area in some form, which isn't bad, just different All this to say, Dragons Dogma is just going through the ringer for it's different approach much like Dark Souls did. People were pretty harsh on that game for being provokingly hard but eventually enough people learned they can't get enough of it and now we're waiting on Elden Ring's DLC. Dragons Dogma had so much potential back then and now that Itsuno has a better position build on DD I can't wait to see where this goes.

You'll find Portcrystals as loot and quest rewards. Twas the same with the first game lol, do not buy it >_

Yes i have definitely had some adventures like that but at the same time i discovered the nameless village by myself, and then captain brant decided to send me on a quest back there again... and i had to walk all the way there again... i let the empresss die, resurrected her and found menella in the volcanic island, cool, but then i had to report back to the empress and then back to menela at volcano island and the stupid shortcut door only opens later during a quest... and these were just some of the worst.. there many other smaller inconveniences with traveling around... but eventually i modded a bunch of portcrystals and ferrystones in because i was done with this bullshit.. i like the game but sometimes the game loves to waste your time.. thats just how i feel about it :/ also the fact that bakbattahl doesnt have its own fixed portcrystal is crazy to me..

@@ruikiri While I did do a whole comment about fast travel before. That last part I absolutely agree with. I don't get why Bakbattahl condones pawns walking around the city and have a riftstone outside given in lore, they hate pawns, yet they don't have a port crystal. I understand the elves given they have secluded themselves, but Bakbattahl is still has trading relations with Vermound. Makes no sense to not have a port crystal. It would have been cool to have quests that revolved around installing port crystals in town.

I Just wanted to have a sick drip, but man, the fact that boots and gauntlets are now part of the pants and chest, is just ruining the fashion of the game, and on top of that armor is locked behind classes, I really hate that with every fiber of my being, at least mods are fixing that, I really like the first game but I dont know dude, dragons dogma 2 kinda feels really inferior in some crucial aspects of the game like it took one step forward and three back, still, im enjoying it a lot, but it could been perfect but no, its Just good but not good enought.

LIke the game, but movement is awful, combat isnt very good, and the loss sytem is bullshit. Much worse than in the first. Plus the dragon aids that can ruin 40 hours of playtime is unacceptable. Game loves wasting your time. No they didnt make the open world better, Having the same shit mobs from the original every 3 feet isnt fun.

I can definitely agree with the game loving to waste your time... also while it hasnt happened to me yet , i heard dragonplague can wipeout entire cities which is kinda crazy.. feels like such a hard punishment for something that you might not even be aware of, plus they do it with a cutscene... if the pawn transformed into a giant messed uo dragon in the middle of the night and you had to fight it (some civilians would probably die in the chaos too) that would be a lot better... but it just feels meh and then you lost a city :D..... I dont have any issues with movement personally, except the fact that characters auto-vault / climb even when not sprinting.. which can make it very dangerous to approach balconies sometimes AND hate they start climbing ladders without any prompt to do so, because that also sucks in some tight spaces where they detect the ladder and start grabbing it and i dont want them too...
