Yeah the legacy was trying to be more screen accurate as oppose to S.O.C and due do the production legacy and S.O.C are not compatible with each other so if bought legacy dino zord, dragon zord, or titanus if you buy another of the zords you have to get the version you bought the first one

I agree. The SOC is still good but no need to upgrade if you have the legacy.

I have both, and I prefer to display the Legacy Dragonzord because of it’s bigger size. The SOC version is so short.

Have both sets. If I have my SOC megazord divided, I use the SOC, as the dragon and T-rex look really good together. If I have SOC in megazord mode, I have it standing next to Legacy Dragonzord. Individual zords scale better with SOC, Megazord scales better with Legacy. Just my opinion.

Great comparison! I was waiting for someone to do this. The SOC Dragonzord is pretty amazing and I have one on pre-order but you have to give credit where credit is due and what Bandai of America was able to do with the Legacy Dragonzord, at effectively HALF the price of the SOC Dragonzord, is pretty impressive plus the Legacy is a much better improvement over the original Dragonzord where as the SOC Dragonzord had the benefit of building upon what the Legacy version did. It will be interesting to compare the Legacy Titanus to the upcoming SOC Titanus. After the Legacy Dragonzord the Legacy line was really making some impressive strides. I would say they were approaching SOC quality at half the price. Too bad the Legacy line had to end and I don't know what Hasbro will do with the line. The only hope I have for Hasbro Zords is if they hand them off to the Takara Masterpiece Transformers engineers. Again thanks for the video.

Thanks so much for the thoughtful comment. I think Hasbro has the capabilities and Takara backing them to produce MP/Legacy like figures. That said, the raise in MP prices doesn't bode well, but the quality sure is there.

Soul of Chogokin all the way. TO ME the only thing that the legacy line did right were those 95 movie ranger figures and the Ninjazord... other than that are pretty "meh"

I notice that the SOC Dragonzord is basically like a combo of the Original 92 Dragon Caesar design (what we know as 93 Dragonzord) and the Legacy Dragonzord all wrapped up into one. And I really love that aspect of it! It's the concept of old meets new. Legacy Dragonzord definitely looks the best in dragon mode, whereas SOC Dragonzord is definitely the best one for the Battle Mode and MegaDragonzord combos! All in all I prefer the SOC one over the Legacy one cause I get everything I want in a Dragonzord.

I own the legacy and I quite like it. The SOC version looks alright but I much prefer the dull gold on the legacy and the head on the SOC looks a little derpy.

In my opinion the SoC is the better toy/display piece. The combination is where it really shines, when comparing it to the Legacy in the dragon mode it does seem similar, but the Legacy version is a jumbled heavy piece of garbage when you attempt(and I mean ATTEMPT, you need to be an EOD Technician to combine it correctly with the megazord and Titanus without it falling over) the combination. The SoC version has new and nicely placed, and easy to work with ports that make it fun to combine when you want to change a display, I’ve built the Mega-Dragonzord over six times since my SoC Dragonzord arrived and it hasn’t fallen once, and in the 2 years that I’ve had my Legacy collection items, I’ve successfully completed the MDZ half as many times as the the SoC so far.

I have to agree with you. While I love the SOC Megezord far better than the Legacy, for the Dragonzord, I prefer the Legacy. And I agree with your next step.

I agree with you, I have the soc megazord and I think its more bealtiful than the legacy version,but the dragonzord I prefer the legacy version that the soc,I saw must rewies and I considerate, the dragonzord legacy esthetics more detailed.

I thought on whether or not should I get the SOC or Legacy line for the MMPR Megazord, but what sold me to the SOC was that each zord was well-articulated unlike the Legacy line which had a Sabertooth Tiger without an opening mouth and a Triceratops with a block for a tail (heck, even the 1993 version of this zord had cannon tails). Besides, I already have the SH Figuarts from the same manufacturer as the SOC robot line. Though not having wheels for the SOC Megazord tank mode is still a glaring mistake. I'm so getting the SOC Dragonzord for my birthday.

Well I sold my Legacy Megazord and Dragonzord prematurely so I recently got the SoC Megazord from Japan for $225 shipped so now I guess I need to invest in the S0C Dragonzord. I will say one thing that is off about the Legacy Dragonzord is he is way too big. Especially too big compared to compated to the tyrannozord. The size is more realistic to proportion wise. Great video dude!!

Kinda... SOC is better to display if you have your zords separated, but Legacy scales better with Megazord. That's why I like having both. I do think legacy has a more accurate waist and head.

Ultrazilla Toys i love it you should try it as it possible and quite acurate but there is a little gap where the leg join but still quite good note: it is a part former to combine with the megazord and sticker is required if you can paint some part (which i would advise)

SoC has a locking mechanism for the knees when forming Gouryujin or Zyutei Daizyujin something that the legacy didn’t have have at all. That alone makes it no contest. SoC > Legacy

Honestly, I didn't buy either to form any of the combinations as they are amongst the poorest in SS/PR so neither has any bearing here and my comparison Dragonzords at their purest. Also, the SOC Megazord cannot hold the weight of the Dragonzord well so I don't think the locking mechanism much of a factor anyway.

Ultrazilla Toys I appreciate you judging the figures in just one form and comparing them in that way, but at the same time, parts of the design of the figures are affected by what they had to accommodate for the other forms. For gouryujin, legacy, has the really long and not show accurate tail, plus the knees/entire feet of the dragonzord being diecast negatively affect the other forms. And the obviously revealed connector ports. For SOC, I feel they went less for show accuracy, and more for the spirit of what they wanted the original toy to be and do, but I do agree with the overall finickyness of the tail. I love the comparison, and I think the dragonzords are both good for their respective prices depending on what you want. The megazord is no contest though.

Valid, but at the same time both had to account for combinations so that's why I felt each would have enough similarities to do this on its own. There's only so many ways this could be engineered to achieve all forms. Megazords were impossible to compare though because they were designed so differently. Which made this one more interesting to me because it felt like Tamashii took actual cues from Bandai America which is why they ended up looking much more comparable.

@@OptimalMario It's more than price point. I owned both versions and while I truly loved the Legacy Dragonzord the Legacy version is just too heavy. When you form the fighting mode the Legacy Dragonzord legs do not lock so if you pick it up the legs flop all over the place. The chest is also too wide with short arms so he looks like a gorilla more than a person fighting. Finally the all combined version has issues as again the legs will come loose. Also he is really too big compared to the Legacy Megazord. I paid $140 for my SoC Dragonzord and yeah I miss the look the Legacy Dragonzord but the SoC version is designed better and you have waay more options

The Legacy and SoC dragonzords are very similar, but the SoC T-Rex is vastly better than the Legacy T-Rex, which make it much better to display with dragonzord. Also I think it's worth noting that the show dragonzord did have some shine to it. Not as shiny as SoC, but shinier than Legacy.
