Hello everyone, my name is Duong.
I am 32 years old.
I live in a poor mountainous area of Vietnam.
From a young age, I had to work hard to help my parents.
Difficult life is always around, I work and learn everything from my grandparents and the old people in the village.
Gradually, I mastered the skills.
5 years ago, I decided to live the challenge.
Determined to learn about the primitive way of life, I chose to live in the wilderness, alone.
Where there's no technology and forcing yourself to pass, it feels great!
How about you? Your life is definitely different from mine.
Have fun watching the video!

I recommend dredging the pond every 6-8 months. Remove the fish poop from the bottom of the pond and use it as fertilizer. I know it is a lot of work but you have a lot of fish in the pond. There must be a lot of silt and fish poop on the bottom of the pond by now. Bacteria will thrive in the poop and lower the oxygen levels in the water. Thank you for the update. Blessings friend.

He can just drain the pond and plant rice all of the silt will be plowed under there's no one one man can dredge that much area he will burn too much energy he can drain the pond and just plant something for a year that will suffice

Just drain the pond and plant rice that is what the farmers are doing here in our place then after rice harvest let therice scraps in the pond with fresh water then the fish is welcome for fresh season by then the fish has plenty of food from the rice scraps that is one cycle then after fish harvest time again for the rice plants to benifit from fish poops till the rice ripened then season for fish again to eat the rice scraps upon wilting with fresh water this is a fact they practice in our place nothing is wasted after each crop whether rice or fish

More biodiversity in the pond will help keep the fish healthy. Find some seaweed that grows in still water and plant it in the pond. Just like you did for the baby fish nursery to hatch them from eggs the fish also need living plants in their home not just the babies.

To ensure that the environment for your fish remains healthy and suitable for them to live, your fish should be sharing an ecosystem with other species that actively filter the water of sediment and particulates in order to feed and derive sustenance. It is not enough to have a pond with simply fish. You need to create an ecosystem which can self-maintain. Look for filter feeders to assist you in this process, and add them to the fish pond.

@@PrimitiveSkillsnetcatfish? (Swai). Maybe eels. Also plants that filter water. Not sure what they would be. Around here they are cattails.
@usbport6082

I agree, you also need to incorporate more air into the water (faster flow= more air) try to make a waterfall or something that constantly produces air passively. Your fish need to breath, standing water only makes it really hard
@PascalSWE
@PascalSWE 6 месяцев назад
@@usbport6082 If there was a problem with oxygen then fish would come to the surface and suck air. As we never see the fish doing this then its probably safe to assume that the current flow is enough

Duong. If you fire treat the ends of the wooden posts before you drive them into the ground, it will harden them, and make them more resistant to rot and decay. They should last longer for you. I also hope that you don’t take the advice offered by the people in the comments as criticism of your accomplishments. Far from that. I think that you have touched the souls of many who watch your channel, and we all want the best for you. Continued success for you and your family.🙂👍🏻

It’s so unbelievable the resources like bamboo, and how you can make so much from it. In the western world we have no clue of this way of life. If we need building materials we go to an overpriced massively huge box store to by single pieces of lumber, and use Chinese poor quality screws or hardware that you buy in a pack of 5 screws for the most money the store can charge and get away with it. Your way seams more natural, though I do enjoy my convenient, easier life style. Love your videos, thanks for the journey and entertainment ;)

Duong, don't throw too many leaves for the fish! The fish will not eat all this, the palm leaves will drown and begin to rot at the bottom. Diseases will begin. I have had an aquarium at home for 12 years. It may not be the same as yours, but it’s 2 thousand liters. There is a golden rule - Hungry fish are healthy fish.

It amazes me how much you've accomplished. When I first found your channel you were surviving under a rocky out-cropping, drinking water that trickled off the rocks. Take this pond for instance, creating that was an incredible undertaking for one man, it's massive. I had forgotten just how big it really was, seeing it partially drained like that really gives some perspective of it's actual size.. Anyway, I've enjoyed following along as you've evolved to where you are now.. Thank you for sharing this part of your life.

The tool Duong is using to cut the banana leaves down is called a bill or bill hook in English. It's been used by farmers for thousands of years to prune trees and other things that are hard to get up close to, but it was also incorporated into battle weapons via pole arms. It was useful for catching the limbs of enemies, including a horse rider's legs, and either dismounting, toppling them to the ground, or just simply injuring their limbs to get them to stop fighting. It can be made by attaching a sickle (hand-scythe) to a pole by rope or glue, or can be officially forged as part of a halberd or spear head. They are still very much in use today in farming, gardening, and landscaping. Some modern version have clippers or pruners to nip through the tree limb with a bit more force, as they're hard to use on tough, dense wood, but a banana leaf stem is soft enough to make the job very easy.
@goerizal1

Many uses of Chinaberry: - furniture, musical instruments: the wood has a beautiful light amber color - toothpaste: paste of twigs and bark - insecticide: leaves and fruits - skin care: the oil extracted from the seeds has hydrating, regenerating and restructuring properties for the skin. - other treatments: the oil extracted from the seeds also treats digestive problems, it relieves eye and ear inflammation as well as respiratory tract conditions such as bronchitis. - plant care: in emulsion, it is a very good insecticide against parasitic insects, beetle larvae, red spiders, mealybugs, etc. - repellent against flies and insects to protect humans or livestock

All the biomass from the bottom of the pond, would do nicely in the garden. Aquaponic systems often use fish poop fertilizer by cycling the water through the garden, but just scooping it out every year or two would do you wonders for your garden!

15:44 The tree that you are cutting down looks like a species of "white teak". As opposed to the famous red teak or "blood tree" when you cut it, blood color comes out. These trees are plentiful in south Asia and the Polynesian area. There leaves grow holes in them because of bug bites. Teak is strong would for making furniture. But there are laws that say not to cut it (red teak) down in Myanmar because of deforestation.

The tree you cut down that was over hanging the pond Duong looks very much like a Bodhi tree! The Bodhi tree or Ficus religiosa (sacred fig) is a species of fig native to the Indian subcontinent and Indochina that belongs to Moraceae, the fig or mulberry family. It is also known as the bodhi tree, pimple tree, peepul tree, peepal tree, pipala tree, ashvattha tree, or Asathu in Sinhala. Bodhi trees are often planted in Buddhist temple grounds in Vietnam, or religious sanctuaries constructed around the sacred tree in situ, however they do also exist in the wild too. Hope this helps? 🤔

Use Gypsum to neutral the nitrites in the water or get chemicals to control the ph levels in the water and sell some of the fish do nitrites won't be so high
