@@Saerkal You get less than 0.1kg of salt per liter of sea water even in the highest salinity locations. He is showing several kg of dried salt in his little ring there, which means either he dumped and evaporated hundreds of liters of sea water there, and it didn't rain a single time for months during the rainy season...or he went down the street and bought a bag from one of Vietnam's many sea salt farms for a buck and poured it into his ring. After the concrete wall fiasco and the chainsaw, I know where I would wager.

I think you likely added some already made salt to your evaporation pond. It takes a very long time to evaporate that much salt out, and you said it was overcast weather. You could have taken the remaining salt by weaving a fairly tight basket and lining it with a bit of clay if needed. You can always clean salt by desolving it back into water when you get home, then boil it briefly with egg white. The protein in the egg will clean the salt, and you can spoon the dirty scum off the top. Then you pour off the extremely salty water into a new container, leaving any sand and clay on the bottom. Leave it alone to dry and crystallise. Then you'll have bright white salt with no grittiness. Good to see you at the sea.

I don't know if the amount of salt you got in one day is true, but I like your dedication to it. I am wondering if it is possible to line the circle with a thin porous fabric before you pour in the sea water so you can just lift off the fabric easily and get all the salt without wasting any?

@@Thorgon-Cross Duong did mention days, but his video only shows 2 meals and 2 nights. The lack of video content and information / details of how long the process takes shows 2 meals, 2 nights really leaves the viewer confused and in doubt of whether his effort to demonstrate this primitive skill was genuine. Sad… i feel like the quality of his video content is slipping from what it use to be, instead of increasingly improvement. If Duong is the one doing all of the videography for both his and his wife’s RU-vid channels, he may have a lot less time to concentrate on good content for videos for his own channel. If you haven’t noticed, his wife is creating more frequent cooking videos. Hmmm….

It's sad to see something that seems quite easy to do being done through cheating :( To get that much salt he would have to vaporize a lot of seawater since only 0.04% - 0.38% is salt. Boiling sea water isnt really that complicated...Im disappointed.

you don't need to boil sea water to extract salt. stick a grain of salt into a saturated salt water solution, see what happens over a period of time. the video is deceptive on how long it took, but you'd be dumb to think you have to boil water to get salt.

In the gloomy weather, there is no sunshine and that primitive pool cannot produce that much salt. It seems that this is the sea area of Ha Long Bay area, the sea water here has low salinity, not suitable for humans. suitable for making salt. If making salt was simple but had such a high yield, Vietnamese salt makers would be very rich.

Also maybe make a big rubber sheet that can be used as a floor for future salt that once waters evaporated can be tied into a bag for more salt transportation? The chainsaw was his wife, not him. He was injured and she did her best. And NO SALT DOESN'T ALWAYS MAKE A RING. They're several ways to harvest salt. Salt is harvested in coastal areas by using sand to evaporate the water by raking it in the sun then washing the sand then boiling the water out. He's doing a great job, just because YOU don't know all the different ways to render salt doesn't me he's wrong. You can't. I love this channel but I know about salt making, and this is artificially staged. This result has been achieved by adding package refined table salt until the water is supersaturated and letting the moisture dry a little. Nothing looks correct during the process. unfortunately. As a long time fan I'm disappointed he'd fabricate this but it's definitely fabricated by adding salt. To make this much salt for an area that size would take several weeks. That is a lot of salt

As a guy who grows up in a village nearby sea and shoreline, this is actually true. My village people there they do their own salt by the same methods as what he is doing in the video. The process starts at 9am till all the way to 5 - 6pm with intense sun light. Method use in this video and in my village area are called Condensation and Crystallisation. It is truly amazing to see it Crystallised every hour back and forth. Is not fake if u do it personally really, remember, INTENSE SUNLIGHT! (Means that day must be HOT AF to do it)

Don't know why people think is fake... is so tiring and hard labour to do salt without chemical like we eating this day. Stupid Iodine solution shit ...

@@chrislam9820 Its not that the methode is fake, but i doubt the amount of salt he made in one day, a cloudy day without intense sunlight and he had to build the "salt pan" first. Even on a day with heavy duty work on the lathe, were the water in the tank reaches temperatures of 40-50°C (and more in the direct work area and chip bin) i evaporate only around 120 liter of water. And with around 3,5% salt in sea water, he needs to evaporate around 300 pots of water, asuming the pot holds 2-3 liter thats around 600-900 liter, to get that amount of salt.

@@wolf310iiThat salt is still wet. It will lose 70% of its volume by the time it's dried out.

@@bujtorm nah he is right there is no way he would get this amount to me it looks like he just dumped a bag of salt in there, also way to fine the crystals would have been way bigger and not evenly big crstals. clearly processed salt in there.

@@bujtorm It will lose weight, but not so much volume.

Duong was attempting to show the process of mangrove salt making. It seems a lot of people have forgotten Duongs first language is VIETNAMESE. NOT ENGLISH. sometimes translation and transliteration errors occur. If we could all read Vietnamese I'm sure there would be no problem, this video is showing the process of mangrove salt making, of course it's impossible to get that much salt from that much water in a single week. 😂
