@@xpertg5570the difference is people actually listen to what Drake is saying. Weeknd makes music you bop and sing with, Drake makes statements (not the best kinds but people listen) Kanye doesn’t get numbers like either Drake or Weeknd anymore but he’s the most listened to artist lyrics wise. Impact is bigger.
Drake doesn’t want to do that because he said out his own mouth “if a rapper that was once hot all of a sudden starts doing something else outside of rap he’s a failed rapper”. That’s Drake mindset towards rappers that use to be hot fell off and now are exploring other careers. He specifically made fun of rappers that was hot at one point in time and fell off. Now they’re doing podcast or doing interviews he considers you a failed rapper.

Disagree. I mean, I'm not the biggest fan of him. Hell, I'm not a fan at all, but I love when artists release a steady stream of albums or mixtapes, so I respect him for constantly dropping. They might not be for everyone, but they don't have to be. Different tunes for different moods. Takes me back to the G-Unit, Dipset and Game days when I was in high school. Gucci Mane, Curren$y and Willie The Kid might've been the only ones keeping that up not too long ago. I'll add Flee Lord and Elcamino to that as well, though both have slowed down a tad.
That gohan compagison 😂😂 is crazy i always ghought gohan was gonna be the greatest sayen of all time but instead his wearing costumes and playing super heroe and college😂😂
I think Drake places a lot of importance on being the hottest/most lit rapper in the game, and he also knows that title is largely decided by the youth. And that's why Drake's so focused on trying to appeal to a younger audience rather than catering to his core audience that has grown older and matured. It's helped to prolong his run, but the quality of his music has suffered as a result. Back when XXXTENTACION was alive, despite the beef, I imagined a scenario where Drake passes the torch to XXX, like Hov did for Wayne. But now that artist like Juice Wrld and XXX are no longer here, there's been a bunch of lackluster hip-hop draft years. Currently no upcoming rapper is showing the potential of being capable of either receiving or snatching the torch from Drake.
Nahhh… nah nothing can make Will Smith seem respectable after all that sht with his wife, & them saying he be getting smashed & smashing that one male actor, ion think anything would make Will Smith respectable… nah i take that back Diddy make Will look respectable
@mazvitaselemani or he just getting a bag. young people are the most targeted demographic across the board. There’s a lot of money to be made appealing to 20 year olds. It’s not a “midlife crisis” to wanna stay on top and continue being number 1 in your industry. he not gonna giv up being the most popular and profitable rap artist out just to make oatmeal music that y’all gon clown him for anyways
What drake should have done after 2018 was settle down get married that would have kept him steady therefore put out more mature music go back into acting because he is a very good actor
Stop it hater. Y’all be finding anything on this man just cause y’all want Kendrick and Cole to be #1. This whole “Copying/Stealing flows” thing is so irrelevant when it comes to music or any type of art form what so ever. It’s called adaptability. We all draw inspiration from eachother whether it be music, fashion, art etc. Everything is borrowed and that’s law.
When it comes to art they are way ahead of him. Drake is a fucking pop artist who makes shitty subpar music now. He's a culture vulture much like Earl Sweatshirt said years back
no, it's garbage. yall dont watch dragonball z but quick to reference it. Gohan has always been a..... SCHOLAR!!!!! He complained about fighting, never complained about studying. He's an earthling that can fight but does not want to at all. hey, i got kidnapped by my dad's alien brother, some green dude shot a hole in his and my dad's chest and now he's kidnapping me so he can train me to fight some more aliens in a year. FOH who would want more of that?? lol
These past few albums have felt like drake has a checklist of all the song trends he needs to hit on an album and he hops on all these trends with the least amount of effort possible
Your thumbnail is beautifully done and the main reason why I clicked. And I thoroughly enjoyed this analysis of Drake's career. It seems like he can't accept leaving his 30s. Keep up the good work!!
That clip of him talking to Yahty proves this when he said “I just left 35” like my nigga you’re in your late 30s why are you saying it as if you’re 25 going on 26? Then when Yahty said “Yeah you getting up there” I think he really felt that.
Dawg he ain’t Michael Jackson and was robbed of his childhood 😂 nigga been living it up. And anything after 30 is too old to be walking around with clips in your hair, crying about the shallow bitches you continue to trick on. Future damn near 40 he tricks on these bitches as well but he ain’t crying on tracks about the shit.
@@Darkboi389fr he 37 with a kid now. Drake just needs to accept his age and stick to what made him great. The young tough guy act he tryna pull ain’t it
He's just having fun. Ever since Hotline Bling dropped, he's realized the majority of people like Drake when he's not taking himself too seriously. I always thought "Nothing was the Same" Drake was kinda cringe, acting like a killer and stuff. Even he admitted that when they did the No Guidance video, they had to make sure it was funny. I enjoyed that a lot more.
Actually, nothing was the same error, which is Drake explain his childhood and how he came up from nothing because there was a time when he did come up for nothing and you’re struggling hard and that’s what he wanted to put on his album
@@jmosworld332 Yeah, but wasn't he like a child actor or something? He was on Degrassi. You're not really starting from the bottom if you started on television.
I'm 23 years old and hearing in the middle of 2023 what people in their 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s or whatever should be like is just a pathetic facet of society. I know someone about 67 yo who has a son, who dresses like us, play videogames , listens to current music and lives happily without being judged by a couple of bitter people. He is the father of my best friend. When we reach that age, i hope no one complains about the criticism you all make. 🤔
That 67 year old is an outlier. Not the norm. IN GENERAL, most people WILL NOT be the same person in their 40s, 50s and so on as they were in their 20s. And it's really not a conscious change. It just is. Family, responsibilities and general life challenges happen to us all. So, not judging you or the 67 year old -- BUT, know that you are not the first 23 year old to think about things the way that you do now. Truth is, in all likelihood, you'll change too. I was 23 once. But that was 20 years ago. And guess what? Life changes, and with it my interests, priorities, etc. have too. And that's not a bad thing. It's totally normal. And though this won't the case for all --- it will be for most. It's just the way it is.
You’re almost right. It’s not about what you “should” be doing, it’s about your priorities. The father of your best friend is a father and stable adult individual. All parts of his life are integrated; he’s into what the kids are into and he’s still a dad. People become uncomfortable, upset or judge-y when they see people try to be something they are not. Authenticity is the key.

If I'm still doing decent at 50 ima still be doing wtf I want idc
I grew up listening to 90's hip hop & Rnb, both mainstream and underground. I think it is just the current state of Hip Hop not really Drake to be honest. For all the dogs for me was more of an R&B album and it had the smoothest R&B cuts I've heard in a while. I realized why people were negative towards it because R&B fell out of the mainstream, and no one realized. Growing up, my generation had artists like Mary J. Blige, Alicia Keys, Keith Sweat, Usher, Ne-Yo, Mario, Chris Brown, Keyshia Cole, The Weeknd, Frank Ocean, etc. As for Drake, I'm honestly just happy he keeps dropping music, literally dropped a Dance, Rap, and Rnb album in like a year. He doesn't have to, but he still does. He learned from Lil Wayne and, you know, Mixtape Weezy. The problem is Mainstream hip-hop is being criticized by underground hip-hop metrics these days, and rappers either delay or don't release their music. People can't drop fun albums or experiment more because mixtapes have kind of died, which made many of these rappers lose their creative playground. As for Drake's inspiration level, I think it's super tough when you compare the artists around him when he dropped "Take Care," "Nothing Was the Same," and "If You're Reading This It's Too Late" to the artists around him now. Even just looking at the other albums that dropped at that time, the difference in quality is shocking. Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole are the only artists that could push Drake, but their output is not similar to Drake. Even their collaborations with other artists are very limited. However, J. Cole has been on a tear this year and is refreshing, but I think for Kendrick, I read that he has only done two features in the past five years, one with Sir and one with Beyoncé. Right now, it feels like Drake's only competition in the mainstream is Old Drake lol.
If FAD was the best R&B you’ve heard in a while… it says 1 of 2 things: 1) the bar for real R&B must be really low and/or 2) you don’t listen to much R&B.
It’s a new era, time’s change and every artist has to adapt. Listen to KOD by J Cole, listen to DAMN by Kendrick, Listen to Kamikaze by Eminem, they all use that same flow that all the mumble rappers use lol, why doesn’t anyone call them culture vulture’s? The thing is, Drake is capable of hoping on an r&b beat, a trap beat, a drill beat, a hip-hop beat, and it’s a HIT. He can hop on ur song and make it HIS song no matter the genre, that’s versatility🤷🏽♂️Drake knows how to adapt to different situations 🤷🏽♂️, if he tried different things and wasn’t successful he would be a flop, but since he pulls it off he’s a culture vulture.
I mean lil Wayne still makes music about lean, shooting, and tucking bad bitches, at 40 something. Yo gotta still on that hood stuff in his forties, and two chains got his start at 35 if I’m not mistaken. Age doesn’t have much to do with it really, it’s just who you are. Besides, hip hops dominoes by younger people, so I’m sure some of that might’ve rubbed off on him
“Dark lane demo tape”is his final project I consider where he understood the assignment he had something for everyone on that joint. The Chicago freestyle was his final big song imo lol. That song changed lives😂🤝🏾
@@SubNada you’re definitely right about that. Yeah the anticipation for how he was going to respond to pusha t was a pretty big deal too and even though it was a long album it was still pretty good. He definitely had to try on that project.
Id have disagree on all of this. Because hes not doing what yall want him to do doesn't mean he lost it. Hes doing the same shit that got him here in the first place
bingo. i dont even care to listen to his new shit but people lowkey reaching trying to force bro to act 80 or something. He's a grown dude with money living a life some of us wish we had, it is what it is
Take Care - IYRTITL was his peak content wise, & Views - Scorpion was his commercial peak. He really 37 now but still feels like in his 20s. Bro bout to his his 40s
He the goat now gone do what he wanna do been putting in work for 15 years same thing hov and Kanye did doing just like his idols but better like he said tim Westwood interview years ago
I thought ppl, like me, saw Views as the beginning of the end. The first bad album of a run of bad albums. But it and Scorpion are significantly better than whatever he's doing now. So maybe 3 levels? Peak Drake (IYRTITL and before) Mid Drake (Views - Scorpion) Trash (everything else til now)
@@TruuJones i respect tht take.. I love views because it gave a glimpse to Toronto. With it's slang and it's sound and it's vibes. Plus I didn't feel it was heavy handed on the features..which is always a good thing. But I definitely get what you're saying.
Drake is free not following the curse ritual of ageism projection. People live longer and age slower. By not putting age expecting on yourself. As for peak if wanted he could push another 10 easily. But I think he just having fun being an artist and making music.
For all the dogs was a huge let down for the fans that have been here since 2007/2008. Maybe I’m showing my age but it’s sad seeing what he’s become these past 6 years. We’re never getting that “old drake” again. Whatever “old drake” is to the younger people is different to whatever “old drake” was to the older fan base that built him up. It was a fun ride though. RIP Drizzy
@SubNada this dude is wondering why Drakes sound changes so much and it's because of ghostwriters...but they even entertaining that being the reason. When he was around Travis his music was stadium music, when he was around the weeknd he was singing, when he was around Party next door he did his Jafakin thing. That's my point.
Back in the day Artists could at least write their own disses. But hey, why do it when we can outsource it from a third party? It's more profitable to have 2 specialized workers than a single, complete, artist.
Plot twist Drake was always corny we just tolerated as long as the hits and good slaps we’re coming. Once they stopped that corny shit became harder to conceal
Yeah as i go back in his discography, he was always corny. The masses had rose colored glasses on to even see it. Nonetheless his music was better back then so you’re right about that!
@@romaretaylor9953 Holistically? No bruh. I can see why people like some of the singles that came out of both projects but the albums as a whole no. There're a lot of misses on both projects.
I feel like he’s been grinding his whole life for this and now that he’s got it he’s just having fun and doing what he wanted to do when he was young but I also agree with ur take on it
Gohan is not a good reference because my mans made a comeback in the last Dragonball movie. Every time we expect Drake to make a comeback it is a letdown.
This issue with alot of people’s opinion about drake is they all have a image in there head of what they like the most about him( singing, rapping, baring you to death, addressing people) he makes music to appeal to everyone so to expect everything to be your cup of tea is somewhat unrealistic. Drakes formula has Never been seen before it clearly working giving his position and success in rap. Working with the newer generation and older generation has alway been something he’s done. He also gives us a new look every drop. You can always match his look to what album or time frame that was. So here’s my opinion if you think someone or something need to take a break. You should just take a break from that thing or that person and come back later world keep spinning and those who appreciate it will continue to. Most of the time your the problem not the product fatigue is a real thing
To be honest adults should be able to dress the way they feel, weather or not its deemed inappropriate for their age you only have one life and there's no rule that says you must dress Ina suit and tie when you reach age 30
I think Drake is scared of the fact that he’s getting really old, and in some years, the youth won’t fw his music anymore. Tbh I understand him, every day of your life you’ve been the soundtrack to hype the youth and when that stops it’s like, who are you. I think Drake loves that he’s being memed because it makes him feel like he’s part of the current generation, because one thing we can all agree on is, having to grow up is bullshit.
