Yeah, there are some good things about each expansion. Personally I'd still say vanilla is by far my favorite, but even vanilla had its problems. Still though, I'd choose vanilla over any other expansion any day (and I do, since I play on a private vanilla server). Rose colored glasses aren't always wrong. Just because someone is nostalgic about something doesn't mean it can't be their favorite or they're forgetting the bad parts. People get too worked up over which expansion is "best".
these are fun to watch cuz the music is really good, but i have to agree with soem of the other commenters here, he is really abusing the fact that both fear and seduction had no diminishing returns back then adn you could literally fear someone for infinity. i like his more recent videos cuz that, despite what the trolls say, is where his true skill shines. i dont know why people say vanilla required more skill, you really jsut had to know what to abuse lol. he is one of the best locks though, and his later videos prove that
I think it requires more skill to really make use of certain benefits? Because everything right now is so balanced and also error for mistakes is way smaller. I guess you could say that whenever you take a noob versus expert the noob would loose less compared to the situation in vanilla. Also, it used to be simpler but you could basicly nuke people down with a lock or mage played as a glasscannon, as he doing is here. He's playing destruction.
Not to mention everything was so new. I think most people argue even that drakedog plays like a noob here but at that time looking at his videos he was just so skilled, compare his videos with others from the same time and u say what I mean. U can see how his opponents sometimes play/. Everything was new, it was one of the really first MMO's I think where this skill was required. And pvp mainly excisted in the outer world or battle grounds/
Oh and u would be a moron not to use fear and abuse your class right? his playstyle was also one of the first because if there was one thing OP!!!!! it was affliction with a felhunter and not destruction with that other pet.
Yeah, you're right. Gear did make a difference in Vanilla too. I don't think it made as HUGE of a difference as it does in WoW these days though. PvPing without resilience is basically a death sentence lol. I guess that balances it out since you can get the pvp gear quickly but I still prefer the vanilla days personally.
+1, the big thing was tho that most players was rather new to the gaming consept itself, a mmo so they dident judge the game and try place things in sepreate parts, instead played around and enjoyed the game with friends! (ingame or inrl)

its not Gear > skill but back in vanilla it was Skill > gear Drakedog rocked mostly greens back In the day now its just who has the better PvP gear. you never see someone rockin rares beat someone rockin full tyran gear
lol constant fear? not really. 20 sec, 10 sec, then 5 sec. Most classes broke the first fear with talents or a trinket. So no constant fears, and there were DR's full duration, half duration then 1/3 duration then immune. Same thing with poly... except it lasted too long the first cast so DR's on poly were kinda OP

And no, to answer your first question, I'm not Anyways this video showed everything I need to know about classic pvp Locks killing everyone with seduce nuke, and no DR's = constant fear / poly / whatever CC you like spam. Also PvP was useless
20 sec, it's still too FUCKING long for a cc which didn't even broke up from damage, and if it did you were already at 20% HP or under. And with those 2k soulfires and insane dots it was just lol And I remember 2 min mages too. Funniest shit eu jk africa

And what did Swifty do exactly other than the charge in combat thing and Off-hand to break CC? Drakedog was an exceptional warlock back in the day, sure he used engineering, pots and major CD's. At least he knew his class. The same can be said for Swifty. Swifty's warrior tricks did contain some great duels, and that's something that drakedog's first videos lack, i'll grant you that.
and I got 2k hk's in one alterac, hell i didint even get to finish. i was a warlock back in the day as well, i was well into pvp. his fear and succi put out cc, his gear put out numbers, also he picks on random noobs. i could do the same but i never had top gear unfortunately.

Jazzarus drakedog exploited noobs, the only thing he did well is cc, like i couldent, i just felt that it was increasingly cheap to rely on fear so heavily, hes a fear spammer extrodenaire. and swifty ACTUALLY DUELED PEOPLE WHO COULD FIGHT BACK. again drakedog just makes a living off of picking on lemmings. swifty would destroy drakedog, no question.
"Picking on brain dead players" thats exactly what he does, locks werent underpowered, 1-2k conflags werent considered underpowered, again it came down to gear. it was ALWAYS about gear. the only class that gave me shit in vanilla (playing sense 05) were rogues, everybody else was manageable.
You do realize that he was famous mostly because warlocks were underpowered during his days? It was a miracle that warlock was able to beat people in PvP in those days.
You're funny kiddo. Warlocks were "underpowerd" back then because nobody knew how to play them. Trust me, people cant really tell what the early stages of the game was like because no one knew what the fuck they were doing.
