Drakkar Intense Fragrance Review 

I respect your honesty! I admire critics who call it like they see it or smell it! Some guys seem to like everything.

Thanks for your excellent service to the frag community! I recently discovered your videos about Drakkar Noir and your recommendations for Houbigant Duc de Vervins l'Extreme as an upscale alternate. Duc de Vervins l'Extreme now retails for roughly $130, but I just purchased it from a highly rated, New Jersey-based reseller on eBay for slighty more than $50. I received it yesterday and it smells great, so it's legit! I look forward to trying Drakkar Intense, but for now I'm satisfied and preoccupied with the Houbigant offering. Thanks a million!

Damn it’s unfortunate that Drakkar Intense ended being not the greatest. It’s honestly really upsetting that new releases are just really generic and overly sweet messes created for the common guy essentially it’s nothing special. Ever since I first found your channel like you said I stick to the classics. Because the classics actually have a unique scent that’s gonna make you stand out, the scents overall are amazing, there beast mode, there strong, and there ultra masculine not overly sweet like most fragrances are today. So far ever since I found your channel classics are the only fragrances I wear now I have some modern fragrances that are good but they’ll never compare to the classics. So far the classics I got are One Man Show By Jaques Bogart, Bogart by Jaques Bogart, Versace The Dreamer, Versace L’Homme, English Leather, Hugo Boss Number one, Lapidus Pour Homme By Ted Lapidus, Jackomo de Jackomo, Chanel Antaeus, PS Fine cologne, and Ralph Lauren Polo Green. Has your opinion on Intense changed at all. I have to admit. I am still wearing this one daily after a few weeks. I really like it and women seem to like it on me too. It's also not too strong, so it could definitely be a daytime scent for guys. Maybe my opinion is different because I like amber woody fragrances and fougere fragrances equally, so this is the best of both worlds for me. I love that nice peppery spice with that green and herbal Drakkar DNA hanging in the background. I love this scent and I'm not afraid to admit it. Lol

I mixed Lomani, Al Rehab Dakar, and the knockoff from Walmart and made a homemade "Drakkar Noir Intense" and use it as a car freshener. 👃 🤭 It's "intense" alright and has a bright blue color to it too. 🤣

Great review mate, I gave it a 6 on Dan’s live and it’s improved over time for me and I would probably give it a 7/7.5 now. I get what you mean re the sweetness but it’s a lot cheaper here in the uk, £25 which is about £34. I think it will drop further over time but overall I am happy with it.

Tough to replace/replicate one major ingredient: Guy Laroche, himself. Having creative geniuses working in conjunction with a progressive LOreal(Cosmair) team absolutely mattered...when you lose that synergy, and you just have a brand name in the hands of big business, tough to expect much. Laroche, Lauren, Armani, Picasso, Vanderbilt, these designers had vision, influence, and real skin in the game when LOreal fragrances took no prisoners.

Hey Kelan...I was able to catch you and Barry on Mr. Smelly's live stream. My Drakkar Intense will be arriving next Monday so I'm very excited to try it but at the same time, concerned that it will be nowhere near Drakkar Noir. As always, great breakdown and insight to Drakkar Intense.

First, we had last year's disappointing release of Polo intense, which I was glad that I didn't buy after what everyone said, now another underwhelming flanker of a classic. Fragrances should never be rubbed on the skin and this is coming from top perfumers

Before the company Guy Laroche greatly reduced the amount of oakmoss in "Drakkar Noir", I found that it could last all day long and into the next day: it was powerful and I loved it. I find the current formulation of it to be weak and it doesn't smell as special as it used to. I might try this new one because I can like fragrances which have vanilla in them, but I'll just wait for it to be greatly reduced in price.

Man my coworker had some of this and I sprayed 2 sprays in my hand, I hated opening but through the mid and dry down I loved it and so did the women and it lasted over 8 on my skin. You’re the first person I’ve heard give this kind of review but hey each nose is different. It’s a winner for me. I will say the women that liked were 35 and up young chicks thought it was just ok.

Got mines for 25 bucks, so got like 4 of them, good after shower fragrance or going to the store.

Yeah. Must admit I found it extremely unlikely they could actually improve on a masterpiece. Noir is legend status for a reason. Enjoyed. 👍🏻

I found Drakkar Intense to really hang on my skin for many hours. I was fascinated by how the scent tripped my memory back to the barbershop as a kid just as the barber poured Pinaud Clubman talcum powder on the brush and brushed my neck before taking off the bib. I needed a masculine scent in my collection. It's a nice break from the "uni" scents.

Kelan, i own an old gianfranco ferre homme after shave but its rather weak. Is roger and gallet open/open black similar in smell?

I knew it... since i saw the vanilla note in there my hopes where not that high. However, i got my hands on a vintage classic: Hypnose from Roberto Capucci, it's a denser, greener version of Drakkar Noir, it came out even before Drakkar Noir(1967). You should definitely try it.

Can you give us your opinion of "hugo boss soul" it's out since 2005 by Ursula Wandel It's really good smelling!

Why can't it just be a beast-mode version of Drakkar Noir! There's such a demand for this. DN is possibly the best men's fragrance ever made, but the performance / projection are mediocre.

Every time you updated the status of that bottle I kept thinking you were just walking through stores spraying it on strangers, spraying the postman when they delivered your mail... Kept thinking how the shit is he going through that much. You're a maniac! As always appreciate the candor. I want to smell it. But no way do I want to buy it to smell it.

Why? Why???? I had such high expectations about this fragrance, but they were disappointed. Fortunately, I have both vintage version of Drakkar and Drakkar noir. You need to try the original Drakkar.

I was so excited with this release. But I really hate a man's sweet fragrances of the nowadays. And, of course, I love Drakkar Noir, Halston Z14, Azzaro pour Homme. Thank you. This review was very useful.

I agree... I recieved my bottle yesterday...I wish it carried the drakkar DNA that's in the opening/middle greenish till the end and that I would've hoped it lasted longer...and wished it was more linear...so im going against popular thought...I think animale gold is a better fragrance even if it's sweeter...

I grabbed this for like $25. I like it...needs to keep more of the opening into the dry down and last a bit longer...but im not mad at it.

Just got my Lalique ph in the mail. It's a bit weaker than I expected, especially for an EDP. Also a bit powdery. Doesnt do it for me. I really like the greenness of the citrus in BDP whereas this one is sharp and bitter. Dry down is like vanilla baby powder on my skin.

Is it disappointing for a modern release though? Or just when comparing it to 80s releases? I might just pull the trigger on this when it arrives, I'm hoping to get it for what Barry paid for it. Lol.

Thanks brother I was laughing once you started dropping your thoughts. I had a quick wiff of it last year and liked the opening but never had a full wearing. And you're right this just popped up at my local rack here in Canada at $40. I'm gonna pass would rather put my money into a backup bottle of Noir.

I would totally love a Drakkar Noir Intense. I like the Drakkar Intense, but its anything but intense. It has very little projection. On skin and clothes it lasts a long time and i like how it smells... But you got to stick your nose were you sprayed to feel it. Calling it intense... Its quite ironic.

My advise is don't be pushy & let others to decide about drakkar intense alone! It's a nice release & remind me of the original version of drakkar as well💝 nothing in common with drakkar Noir for sure!

Send these sweet frags straight to HELL! Enough already. My mind is a bit blown how he applies fragrances lol. Makes so much more sense- applies it like a lotion. Might do that once I have too many fragrances in my retirement lol.

Im wondering how it compares to Horizon.

Its a nice pleasant scent & doesn't have a (WOW) factor. & you're right! Performance, only lasted on me between 3-4hrs on my skin. iDon't know what they were thinking, but they need it to have more time to come uo with something heavy & strong. To me this is another failure.

Well this was never meant to be like Drakkar Noir I don't understand why some 'reviewers' are expecting it to be. The Original Drakkar came before Drakkar Noir, it was a great fragrance. Drakkar Noir was a totally different scent and was a hit and more popular than Drakkar. However after reformulations even DN is nothing like it was when released in the 80's. I've even heard reviewers call this Drakkar Noir Intense....really need to do their homework.

For me it was underperforming, I know I tried a legit one as it was at a department store. I'm not a huge fan of the OG but if I had to pick I'd go with that over "intense".

DIGAMOS NOOO A LA PIRATERIA... existen tiendas que venden al mismo precio con garantìa de satisfacción y facturan sin aumentar el precio.

Seems like companies going the “intense” route or “extreme” route is strictly marketing ploy to lure avid fans. The scent comes out altered completely and lacks any of the original qualities. For instance Sauvage Extreme, Azzaro PH Intense, this one etc. Like, imagine a Kouros Intense came out right? And we’re all thinking “holy shit this could be amazing” and you smell it, and it’s like fruity citrus bubblegum that’s total shit. Like…that’s what’s happening it seems. All lies and bullshit

Unfortunately that’s exactly what we expected.

Drakkar intense has nothing to do with drakkar noir, so the comparison doesn't make sense in the first place. It is a modern scent with a vintage feel to it, albeit cheaply made. Lets face it, the "powerhouses" of yesteryear where pungent and obnoxious, in the 80''s we just put up with it because there wasn't much else on the market but today who would wants to wear scents that greet you with a punch in the face? Understatement is key here and I for one am glad that the times of gag-inducing wet towels of perfumes on men are over.

Yes - they should do a new Drakkar noir - an intense , more modern , beastly , monstrous Drakkar noir. Drakkar intense .. disappointing, well I’ve not tried it , but - why bother . Am really tired of crumby performance, and all the money making reformulations. Am leaning toward buying used vintage - some recent pickups .. quorum edt (vintage), Chanel 19 edt, Armani ph vintage, Fahrenheit (just a 10ml - but fantastic 🔥⛽️), Aramis 900 - (mini), Mandate.
