Keep doing what your doing, its not a dumpster fire ! You have the most realistic "quality" videos on the tube ! As a person that loves the sea and has traveled in your footsteps from Dufferin and Eglington to my current home in Southwest Florida. I have watched content from sailing channels that have all the nice and new shinny things on their boat and talk about the "tough times" and "hardships" they endured on their boat while they are polishing there chrome anchors. Thats all great, but your story is "REAL" Keep on the adventure. Its a real story of life ! Best wishes on your adventures.....
Lol. No, the entire Bahamas is limestone. Anchor in the sand. Not on a reef, or in turtle grass, shoal grass or manatee grass. Chose your spot better. You are causing damage.
Any ideas? I'm out here trying to make this happen. Why do you think I'm dramatic? Anything you think I should do differently? At the very least I was hoping you would consider my effort an attempt. I need criticism. Please fill me in.
Your forced to make due with what you have. Every decision has a knock on effect. Every mistake takes its toll and is learned from every good decision pushes you forward. 2000 NM to go. Many more videos coming!!
The power plant burnt down during the pandemic. They operate on temporary gen trailers. There is a new power plant that was built in the Resort area that services the entire RW resort.. You could have gone to fishermans village and checked in on Sunday.
Others, Sailing Spoondrifters for example, have anchored in the northern bay and anchor held in 40 knot winds from SW. They had the same fear as you but holding with 7/1 rode was good. For clearing in, you can anchor off of Hero's Park just in front of police station, and tie dinghy up at the park. The $300 fee is not the lowest around the Caribbean, (French Islands are just a few $s) but certainly not the highest, but the food and fuel prices are high. Marina's can be expensive (like the one closest to your norther anchorage would be around $100/night for your size boat) as well and why most cruisers anchor out.
If you would like to dialogue on this I can answer specific questions. My wife and I did this about a decade ago in a CAL 34. After anchoring out and trying to cheap out, we ended up shopping around and got a good berth at Bimini Blue Water - only a short walk from Customs. They invited us to tie up there free for check-in. We took a monthly berth and did some work on the boat. We went back every year to meet friends before the sail south to the Exumas and Georgetown. Covid ended our sailing although we have flown to visit son on his boat in Rio Dulce since that time. I just watched you walk away from the pink building (Royal Bahamas Police Offices) where we got married. Great memories. p.s. don't worry about those 'drama' comments. The main reason we don't do it any more IS the drama.
Shalom Achy (Brother) Keep the Sailor Dream of YaH Directing you with the Ruach (Wind) I know we will See each other at some point in time For now I'm putting out a 135lb Mooring Anchor in St Mary while sitting through our second Hurricane 🌀 season doing Sailboat ⛵ Projects before intake off by the Ruach Wind Shalom
So dig in your channel yep love the iguana man that looks like a Third World country I thought you’d be sailing into a resort… Yeah no like Miami not allowed. Dude you’re such a pirate I love it. I lived on boats for about five years started on a lake in Dallas Texas ended up down on the Gulf of Mexico parlayed through about 11 boats… One of the marinas gave me like nine boats and 08 when the economy come out of tanks… I made it out of Galveston Bay into the Breakwater of the gulf and the swells got so big I turned around I was in a 37 mainship. Twin screw yacht… And that was my dream was to pull out into the golf and flip a coin Mexico or Florida and then the Bahamas… Thanks for sharing your living my dream. Subscribed
Im not sure what your gonna do with this channel butttttttt!!!! This is the 2nd time you went to the Bahamas and bailed out. .Look at your views and likes for the Bahamas vids..That's building a channel going back to the usa or Canada will crush this channel bud (In my Opinion). Mike I have been a loyal sub not gonna be a patron until I see more sailing and less voice over DJ work! sorry to be an ass but being honest! As a sailor myself Im attempting to give advice the best I can without sounding like F"N ass"ole...Best of luck Ill continue to watch..
Michael you need to change your RU-vid name to ADHD on an old sailboat… what you think??That dog hated you,but I truly love your honesty and you content.I won’t lie I mostly laugh really hard as I watch all the stupid stuff that happens and the dumb things you do.🥴
I'll try and do better I guess. This is a truth vlog and that's what happened mate. I appreciate you motivating me to do better. For the record I get my ass kicked by storms in future episodes. I only hope you will feel entertained..
I wasn’t clear and that isn’t fair to you. I like your videos. I’ve watched all of them. We have the same luck- if I had a channel of me sailing, nothing would go right for me either. I think that’s why I’m drawn to your channel. I can relate. I just didn’t see the drama in this video. Cheers, my man.
Been looking at your videos all day. I think you are presenting a clear view of “novice cruising” and presenting a clear view of “the learning curve”…keep doing your thing. Yeah, if you did “the formula”, a woman that looks great in a string bikini, off to exotic places, etc, I’m sure you will attract a certain market. Right now you seem to be working with what you have and making headway. Join the struggle to keep the Miami Anchorages open and accessible. Thank you. Luciano-SV Amadeus.
