Stefany Everdeen these are the main printing process colours that give you a full colour printed picture so she does not need to use the other colours at all unless to fill some other decorative objects in the background if she wants to
well the thing about this is yes, you can do fantastic portraits with minimal colors, but most often, the colors you want to use are the colors you'll get in a large set. when you have a smaller set, most of them are just the flat primary, secondary, and tertiary colors, without much variation.
Interesting! I’d love to see you try this with a darker skinned muse. I want to try it too, I’m so used to my hundreds of luminance and polychromos pencils
Damnit Kristy! How am I supposed to justify my purchase of my 150 pack of pencils after my wife see’s this video? Well I will just explain your simply an amazing artist and just the best there is! You have created a tremendous portrait with such limited resources. It is good to see that if you work very hard and keep going it is possible to create art with just a few supplies. Thank you for giving us your time and expertise to help us on our color pencil journey.
Oooh. This looks fun. You did amazing. I love it when people prove that you don't need a ton of expensive art supplies to create good art. Yes...you may get better results with better supplies and you can do more with more supplies. But it is possible to create fantastic art with nearly nothing.
@@catbiscuits2897 Yeah. They are pretty high end pencils. However she is only using five of them. Usually even someone on a budge can collect pencils one at a time, and even with only a few you can still create something cool
Kirsty: This is an amazing result considering the lack of supplies that you allotted yourself. Even the facial skin texture looks so natural even without any blending materials. Thanks for sharing. Greetings from Ontario, Canada.
This is probably the best, fastest, most inspiring video I've watched so far on this subject. I learned so much in under 20 minutes. I used to draw in high school and tech school, I've won several awards in state, did two of my school yearbooks covers, inside art, etc.. but haven't drawn seriously for around 20 years, and I've gotten quite rusty, and have forgotten a few things over the time. You are bringing it all back to me, and your art is amazing. Thank you.
Amazing. I'm so thankful for your videos, I've learned so much from your tips and have really improved my art thanks to you I've started drawing art to go with a novel I'm working on and I would never have corrected my errors without your help, keep up the great work x
I wish I could show you were I started to where I am. I have reduced my color set for now and am loving the simplicity. Colored pencils are the more patient medium I found. And when you say light pressure and layering is fundamental it's absolutely true!!! Super patient!
Do like art? It's so amazing😍 I was impressed with your video! Keep up the good work 👍 Have a nice day 🧡👍 Absolutely stunning Beautiful! 🤩,happy to watch!😛👍😜👍 wonderful!🧡👍+🔔😘😊😘😛
this is very inspiring! for people, like me, who wants to practice drawing, but have a limited budget or are beginners and don't want to invest in a huge amount of tools that they don't even know how to use properly yet ,this is a great motivation. thank you
Very cool to see how much you can accomplish with a limited palette. I think it would also be instructive to see you do some drawings using the 10-12 pencils that come in the small sets since I suspect that it what many people end up starting with and it would be encouraging for them to see how to mix colours and get natural looking subjects with those starter pencils.
It really makes sense when you think about it. All colors come from the primary colors: red, yellow, blue. Theoretically those are all you need and the black and brown for contrast. And you are a talented lady, so these techniques are super easy for you. I made the mistake of buying tons of supplies in a bunch of media, and I get lost trying to use them all. A lot of what I bought was a waste as I will never use it all.

You are such an amazing artist. Don’t believe I’ve ever seen anyone constraining themselves with the number of colours they use. But I really think you’re right, you really get to know your colour theory when you limit yourself like this.
This absolutely beautiful as always ♥️ actually i would like to thank you kirsty because without you i wouldn't have learned how to use color pencil correctly ..this helped me personally and my art channel ...thanks again 🙏♥️
fantastic tutorial. simplifying in this way is much easier for a beginner to grasp the basics of colour pencil portraits without getting too over complex
Beautiful..funny I hardly ever use black I usually use a medium grey for darkening the shadows..But I don’t really do portraits yet as I am just building my confidence up to try them..I have just restarted my art after about twenty years ..so it’s a long confidence thing 😀
I wanted to get started on drawing realistically with pencil. This was good help because I thought I would need a lot of new pencils but you showed that I could use few and get an amazing portrait!🙂☺️ PS might buy your course looks really good!
I admire the picture you colored with just five colored pencils. It really is about the shading, and layering the colors to create a realistic drawing.
Torres artist no you don't Torres To find out why read my comments above on PRINTING PROCESS COLOURS like in your magazines and newspapers it will change your life
This is mindblowing. I'm not sure how many of your viewers use colour pencils, but this is some insane skill level. I honestly didn't think it would be possible to achieve a remotely realistic result, but you NAILED it!

Wow! Unlike other videos to draw a portrait, this is very helpful for a common artist means like me who don't have sets of lot of shades !!😀😀🙂THANK YOU 🙂
This technique is perfect for the quarantine since you can't buy materials from the store due to the corona virus and you need to reduce the use of white and peach flesh.

@@malaksart3804 Once you get the overall shape shading with a single pen is really fun and relaxing. I really enjoyed finishing shading during classes. Wish you Luck. :)
@@malaksart3804 I can see you actually have a youtube channel where you draw. Looking at it you draw very nicely. I just noticed we have diffrent styles. You shade diffrently in your older videos tho. I mean you just tried to make something darker/lighter instead of undderlining the shape with circular movement. But i guess it is actually meant to be that way when you are going for many animated styles rather then realistic.
Less colors means you need a lot of very soft layering off the same colors over and over to achieve a more realistic blending, specially for the red tones and the greys, but wow this was amazing!!!!
I’m a huge fan of challenging yourself with limited color palettes, and I’ve got a buttttttload of mini palettes for limited watercolors. It was actually surprising and interesting to see you do the same thing with colored pencils, a medium I would have thought couldn’t do the same thing. Super interesting, thanks for making this!
