being a fan of gizzard for so long you really get to see how far Cavs has gotten in his drumming skills, especially when you release albums ranging from thrash metal to light funky jazz

"Started young, around 16" Gives me fuckin inspiration Me and cavs have had a very similar upbringing to drumming. I started around the same time. And for whatever reason, found buddy rich and all that jazz, blew me away!! Yeah and our styles are absolutely mimicked. And I discovered king gizz late, at around 22. Anyways don't know if anyone cares!! Cheers!!!

Saw them the other night, venue was ruthlessly muggy and Cav's was on point the whole time. Dripping tap straight into magma to close the set, don't know how he does it!

Cavs absolutely stands out as that "marathon" drummer that can just hold his shit down and silently flow + communicate with KGLW group for 3+ hour sets - he's got such a calm head behind all that BLBLBLBLBLWLWBLWLWLBLBLBL yknow? he makes it look easy. I've played drums for 10 years, and when I got into Gizz years ago, Robot Stop was my "keep up" practice piece. That "I wanna play this without dragging" piece. That hi-hat tempo strained me then, now it doesnt. I also like to challenge myself to play along to the entirety of I'm In Your Mind Fuzz. Fun groove, few variations, but 20-25 mins in, those forearms will start to burn, i'll tell ya. Cavs is machine. HAIL.

When I first heard Changes, and heard Cavs laying down that Fool in the Rain groove - I was so happy! He must have been so psyched to be able to play that and have it work! Great homage to Bonzo.

Great drummer. Can lay down a relatively straightforward groove and make it sound like a million bucks, or completely throw you for a loop with some of his odd meter stuff.

Judging by his drum solos I just knew Bonham was a huge influence and here he confirmed it. This guy is an amazing drummer.

jazzy afrobeat?! Have they released that one, yet?

What's impressive to me as someone who plays drums a bit is how calm and relax he his on the kit. It's all in the wrists and elbows. He doesn't waste energy by doing big moves and being flashy. He play 3 hours + marathon shows with big metal and complex jazzy tracks like nothing. Probably the most versatile drummer right now in the game.

Wow to hear him like confirm his drumming influences is just great and really interesting I love all the people he cited

Been into Gizz a couple of years I love almost everything they do. And anyone who loves Art Blakey is alright in my book.
