No doubt they are a lot closer to one another as a family than us that live in houses. They have to adapt to work and live together in close proximity. I love that the children have their own space but I expect they choose to play together because they will be brought up this way. My asd boys would learn so much more than they are at school with this sort of life and learning. Massive respect to this family. Xx
Yeah. When he mentioned "you forget your elementary school friends", well I'm still good friends with many of those friends 40 years later, but whatever works!
Thats one of the best rigs I have seen and I have viewed hundreds. What a great family project this bus is!! This dad should be proud of his family's living space. Outstanding!!
I would have loved this raising our daughters, our youngest is 32 years and oldest 45 this would have been so wonderful and being able to be a family with such wonderful memories ❤️
Enjoy your kids-they are learning how to be good people first and foremost. Your lifestyle is creating forever bonds. Always seeking to share the wisdom of GOD first will be your best educational choice-mom of 8.
Like most builds by non-RVers once you get on the road you find out what works and what doesn’t. Good luck making it our won for your wonderful family !I love the bunk room!
The greatest part is they are teaching through experience. They will be confident well adjusted adults. We were taught to do research on history of the area. The battles, the local foods, the works.
As a cdl driver ...when i got certified on these....this is PRECISELY where my mind went....the VanHool TD925 was going to be a great executive coach or my dream rv......now I know hownto go about it 😁😁😁😁🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾 AWESOMENESS!
Thank you Tom! You Tom know how to interview and ask the best questions. Wonderful Job! This is amazing and perfect for this family of 8. The education they are receiving is fabulous, real-life and going to the places, learning history and making history! Field Trips with family is a great way to learn with tons of fun without even knowing it. Now if the public educational program did this type of learning in their area, the kids in America would be a lot more educated with higher IQs and Appreciate our County, understand our history without any bias. BTW, aren't most of us actually doing the same things and learning with a life of RVing...
Sounds like they’ve had nothing but trouble outta that bus though... nice concept but I’d rather have an rv for that price ... then again the experience is priceless for them and that’s what matters
Dinner table idea while watching. You know how people make steel pipe shelves with screw mounts to the wall? What if you had a screwed steel pipe table from the ceiling.
I've been planning to buy a used class A and overhaul it for off grid nomad living just in and around my own state. Don't have the luxury of being able to work remotely or have millions saved. But many of the videos on this channel have been very informative and inspirational. Helping me get closer to my goal
Maybe have the ceiling hi to fold away table where the table would come down in front of you like a ski lift protective bar and also leave about a 1-foot gap at the Kitchen Side so you can get In-N-Out since you would not have to worry about the area blocking the walkway or down by your knees
That was uniqueness at it's most for this *Special RV bus re-mod (inclusive narrow walkways, but resting hammock(s) oasis top outside. Accommodations to comfortability & functional .... Continued continuous life road success with interested journeys for this family ‼️. Nice interview share ✌️☮️
Nice project, even though I wouldn't to live entirely on such a rig like that myself. For tourism purposes it would be great of course, having something to do long holidays and such. By and large, in many jurisdictions, like here where I live, buses of this calibre can only do medium to long haul regular passenger lines on their first 8 to 12 years in operation (depending on the trip's duration and if inside same country or international). Some of those buses will to have a 2nd life after that doing short-haul tourism day excursions, airport transfers, school transfers or rural area short-haul lines. The others would to face the scrapper at their main replacement age. I believe some of those buses, if well transformed could to become big motorhomes for big families or small groups with same use case of a regular one.
for the dining area, just increase the width size of the plank on one side and remove the table from the pantry shelves area. Before meals, let kids sit on the seat on one side, drop the dining table with complete wide wood panel and put the food while others walk in to sit on the other side. btw love the house :)
I think this is a great way for kids to grow up if the parents have the ability to deal with all the work it would take. Our camping times are our grown up boy’s favorite memories.
Facing front. That table is so overbuilt you can use ONE hinge in the middle on the right side, Then hinge the table top from the left side to the right side eliminating the hinges on the left side. Then to put the table up you flip up the right side (on one hinge in the middle) and flip over the top to double the table area after the kids get settled in on the left.
Hey, guys. Check the laws but since u pull a 5th wheel it’s considered a single vehicle so u can pull your car behind u as a flat tow or on a trailer. Love the double decker.
I love it 😀 the family seem to love it. I would love a rig like this even just for me and my partner for now . Maybe 1 or 2 kids in future and would be plenty of room
sanitize fresh water system and waste tanks systems frequently, inspect roof weekly, clean A/C's every year and inside A/C shroud filters every 2 weeks during hot seasons.
Personally our school district, when we were raising our kids, told me that "we here at _____ School District are well aware that your children learned a whole lot more with you than in this school. You can take them out any time you want to for field trips or vacations." I did eventually home school our youngest daughter and after a year, when she returned to public school, she was tested and skipped a year, which I personally would not recommend doing. Home schooling is the best and to be able to RV it would be astounding! Blessings !
Beautiful bus!! I am a nurse, so I can't work remotely. 🙁 My husband can work remotely. We have 2 big dogs, so a yard (even a small one!)would be a must! Our kids are grown, so we wouldn't have to worry about that. I would definitely live in a bus like this!! ❤
Fotile chef cubii 4 in 1 steam convection oven. Dehydrator air fryer steam convection and regular convection. I have all the conventional stuff, but that's collecting dust. Their 100 off , happy rving!🙃
Double decker for such a big family is a great idea! Great tour and excellent interview. I love their philosophy on homeschooling. Configuration felt a bit cramped and claustrophobic. Glad they have the rooftop and outdoor space. Thanx for sharing!
I used to see Arlo Guthries old bus parked at Beverly Garland's HoJo in lA. The had done a conversion that put a chopped VW bus on top of the coach body. It was really tall and could only operate in certain states. The best laid plans of mice and men sometimes go astray.
That is a really, really nice van. We purchased a Swift Select 184 during the first COVID lock down but we sold it again recently as we weren’t able to get away in it as much as we would like. Absolutely gutted to not have a van anymore but selling it for more money that it cost us absolutely sweetened the deal. Swift was not the best build quality and poor after sales service from Swift was not good. I can really see now that the way to do it is to build your own van. Excellent job!
I really wish the UK was set up for this way life as I would sell our house and take our children on a magical road trip. The same with tiny homes. I think it would be almost impossible to find somewhere to park it with the facilities needed without huge costs. I love that he takes the attitude that you learn through your mistakes (with regards to the design issues). The refit can also be used as a learning opportunity for the children too. X
See people don't have ones of this size in the UK because you just can't go looking down country roads with this, can you? Now a tiny house I could do that very easily but some of these so-called tiny homes are not tiny are they, they have two bedrooms yes it's small compared to American homes. I would live in a tiny home the American one very easily no problem at all. Stick it in a wood somewhere I would love that..
I’ve been saying double Dekker buses have been the things for years, but nobody listens to me when you get out there and did it for peope who need the room!!
If it’s that difficult to insure, that kinda means you’re most likely going to be stuck with it after the two years, who’s going to buy it if they can’t legally use it.... might need to look for some loopholes into renting it out afterwards or something... something to get some of ur money back atleast
I have a 26ft fleetwood flair 25y. And I solo RV. I get 9 miles to the gal. To move just myself. He is moving 8 people. so cost per person is much cheaper with his double decker bus.
You could have you long table against the windows and pull the bench out to sit on. Then everyone can look out the windows while you eat. You might be able to have more storage as well.
id use the magnets they use for bathrrom mirror cabinets for the stairs so they can be lifted up and work on stuff without having to completely remove them
It looks like it works for you. I felt my anxiety build the longer the video played. Just a bit too claustrophobic for me. I guess if I'm doing RV life I'm going to have to have slides, or more windows so I don't feel trapped.
Same with me. I would not make a second story, rather high ceilings and high beds for older kids. And less stuff inside. I had 4 kids, and nearly all taller than 186cm. more outside living and storing place on top. Windows both sides. But he is living his dream and happy. He was also honest about the shortcomings
i felt the same. starting from the entry way. if more planning and preparation, especially the layout to accommodate 8 people, the claustrophobic aspect could have been avoided.
If they had a few more inches they could drop a dining table from the ceiling once everyone was seated and just have someone on the kitchen side to pass over the food.
☘️🏈🐕🇺🇸⚓️👶 In Elementary School 4-6 graders went Whale Watching every year. I do remember all of my Elementary School Teachers, but not all of my other teachers.
I have an idea for the dining room table how about one that comes up out of the floor and then when you're done you can just push a button and reseed it into the floor is
I don't know there is one with their current configuration; that and even other options just won't work with how close it is to the blockages at the ends. Busses I've seen this style, or screw in polls and pop on srored table top, or folding table, etc all have room to access the benches on both sides. 🤔✌️
Im a solo rv chick in a fifth. I make food for two and just freeze a portion. I have learned to scale crock pot recipes to my tiny 1.5 qt crock. I dont talk to neighbors lol 😂 Im too paranoid.
I have idea for the dinning table Is should be like 4 feeted convertible table that same length on the space and you can use a convertible chair at bout end of the table for you and your wife
You’re definitely leaking gas you got your lines gonna be replaced they probably kinked it or didn’t seal when they hooked them up. It’s an easy fix just depends where your lines are at you can put a diner to find where the leak is that use a black light.
