@@matthewjamisonjust because a corporation won't show the same loyalty doesn't mean Big Al or anyone should lower there standards and do the same! He did pretty well in his Umbro boots also
@jonathanburn4388 Al would have done well in work boots. Not the point. Showing loyalty to a corporation that would ditch you in a heartbeat if you got a serious injury is foolish. Loyalty to people is a different matter. These faceless
Gerrard spent 5 of his best years playing with a long term injury. People respect him immensely for what they seen on the pitch, but if they knew the lengths he went to off the pitch just to be part of the squad they would think he is a machine
I had a pair of Quasar boots when I was about 11. I bought them because Gary wore them. After about 3 games one of the back studs and the bit on the sole you attach them to fell apart and I was left with only one stud in the back of one of my boots for the rest of the season because my dad refused to buy me another pair. Thanks Gary.
I had Gary's football quiz DVD when I was a kid. I had a look in a British Heart Foundation the other day and noticed it in one of the dvd bins near the door. Brought back some memories.
I still think one of the weirdest careers after football I’ve seen is Henri Lansbury going into landscape gardening! Man loves to sit on a mower after spending years at Villa sitting on a bench
Really good questions this week. Nice to have them talk about themselves outside of football for a change, feels like we know them on a more personal level
Think about that kids. Alan Sherear still sits atop of the all time Premier League goal scorers (and he scored a few in the division below), by some 50 goals, yet he spent best part of 2.5 seasons out injured! And, imagine how many more he’d have scored had he moved to Man Utd?!
I remember reading an interview with Alan Ball many, many years ago in which he bemoaned the fact that now he'd made it loads of companies were prepared to give him free boots. 'But where were these companies before I made it, when I really needed a free pair of boots?’.
Quasar linekers we’re my 2nd boots and I purchased them because of you Gary lineker. So thanks for that 😅. I had some ASICS that were actually paul hall’s boots ( cheers Paul for giving them to me )from Portsmouth fc and they were amazing and supple. Then I had puma kings for years and then adidas predator for about 5 years. Have to say puma kings were most comfortable and best. First pair of predators I had I left them in changing room after a muddy game. The mud cling to them all over and they weighed me down. When they reduced the size ofsererated edges and lightened them I purchased again
Perfectly curated social media profiles don't really help as fans would have far more sympathy and understanding if players were more honest about injuries etc and how bad they are.
Craig johnston is an interesting character, designing football soles and the tech for recognising what is removed from minibars in hotels..."the butler"
Great episode 👍🙂 I remember having a pair of Quasar propads (shinpads) back in the day. Always wanted a pair of diadora as my favourite player John Barnes used to wear them at his peak ⚽
Ah guys, so good, definitely my "unwind end of the day thing" you guys crack me up, thanks for a good laugh much needed these days. you're the best. L.
Another great ones Fellas . . . . . . . .Micah should start a new line in Podcast `T` Shirts . . .Fruit Salad Specials . . . . . . . .On Strikers for clubs who could do really well, Jarrod Bowen to Arsenal to get that link up with Declan Rice and to be fed by Saka, Trossard and Odegaard would be explosive!!!! Bowen carries no baggage, is a pure out and out grafter, mindset, and ability for finishing from any angle, would be a real plus for Arsenal.
Couldn't afford good boots many years ago so managed to get an odd pair cheap so i could play. The right boot had a white sole and the left a blue sole but both uppers were black. Lads took the pi$$ in the changing rooms but imagine now! they'd be worth a fortune🤣
I could have been a pro if i got the Puma SPA King boots i wanted for Christmas back in the day. Unfortunately i got Patrick Equip’s and that was the end of that!😅
I can genuinely see oshimen at Newcastle next season just look back at the documentary the adidas deal is huge and in the words of Amanda Stavely "a game changer"
If not oshimen we'll definitely go in big on a striker in the summer love Isak but he's not a natural 9 Wilson brings something different but he's lost that yard of pace and has been injured 40% of his entire Newcastle career, don't think he'd be too happy to lose the number 9 either Could see a young forward on loan this window as if Wilson is out ,as Isak can't play every game , only other option is to move Gordon to CF when Barnes comes back ⚫⚪ UTM
Thank you guys for this morning show am watching this at 4 am n this is just inspiring to hear of how man Stan with business jus a casual tlk at a lunch table
had to search up bling boots & it’s left me with a question for everyone but mainly micah - there’s tons of old articles about micah that aren’t the most positive as we know many media outlets tend to have certain prejudices. for micah - how did this impact you in your playing career (positively or negatively) & did you pay much attention to it? & for alan & gary - did you guys face anything similar with the media & how did this impact you if so?
I had a pair of Adidas Qasar boots and didn’t realise Gary was the one who promoted them. I played in goal for a Sunday league team and felt a million dollars wearing them 😂 Sadly they didn’t help me protect my hands from my middle finger from being stamped on after diving at a team mates feet for the ball during training. The result was a finger fractured in nine places and very purple 😂
You had to have the Adidas World Cups with its massive tongue. And for sure Seria A was the best league in the 80s and 90s. It wasn't even close. English football was still long balls and very physical play.
Fantastic chemistry.. easily the best football podcast on the internet.. lots of respect for Shearer and Lineker.. and Zabaleta was definitely better than Big Meeks.. Love the show..
Micah, my knee is worse 😂My first one was at 16 and ended any pro sports career. Refuse knee replacement. 4 surgeries all lateral meniscus. Since this is the only Social I do here is my question: Favorite jersey of all time? Country and Club.
When watching games recently, I keep seeing players with wholes in the back of their socks: saka, callagher etc, what’s the reasoning behind this. Love the content keep it up
Question loving the podcast guys not sure what Jeff Sterling said bout 3rd round of f.a cup draw being seeded I agree with him what are you thoughts on that
It was Adidas predators for me my whole youth the originals at first , then white with red tongue with my name and number stitched on in gold 😂😂 . Then came the R9 Nike's oooolalala , I went for the Ronaldo full chrome edition , a pasty grey Irish teen who thought he was the shit haha I had some teckers but no pro , the R9's cut your heels so bad we all used a ton of vaseline to stop the blisters it never worked but damn we thought we were fire back then🔥 Predators all the way or puma king nice boot and a classic .
Endrick will be joining Real Madrid in July 2024, right around the time of his 18th birthday. If Mbappe do go Real Madrid, his role may be to come off the bench as an impact player. Carlos Ancelotti is not Mbappe's biggest fan.
