Hey Ya'll - Thanks for watching our version of "Dream On" by Aerosmith. This song seemed like a real challenge to re-create a cappella, so with the help of our friends Rob Dietz and Omar Cardona we jumped into the apocalypse and sang our faces off. Well, I guess that was the deal with the City. VoicePlay can make the Video in the Building and afterwards Geoff will use his subharmonics-ultrabase with the help of the supertenors waves to wreck the place. Win-win for the city by saving money for a company to do it and having this great guys for videoshooting in town.

Dream On is not a song I would have ever imagined could be done a capella, but you guys absolutely rocked this. The tenor harmonies are insane, Geoff's bassline is wild, and Layne as ever continues to make sounds that shouldn't legally come out of a human being. I also love how this feels like it takes place in the same world as Warriors, maybe a few years down the road. Warriors 2: Hey Look, the Future Still Sucks

Looks like an abandoned cheese factory. De brie is everywhere. It is now confirmed that Geoff is a cat in human form with his batting a piece of wood around. This was an amazing piece! Layne's beatboxing stood out to me personally in this one. (The things that mouth can do) Everyone's stunning vocals in this one. Now excuse me while I continue to abuse the replay button.

What about this song for Voiceplay to do: Sound of Silence by Disturb. I want Geoff to take full lead because for his resonance bass at the beginning of this song,that he have also for his higher register in the middle of this song in his 4th octave using his a lot of mixed and chest, end of the this song, back into his resonance bass. For Lyane Stein, I want him to do atmospheric synth that blend with the higher harmony by Eil Jacobson and Cesar de la Rosa.

Voice Play doesn't disappoint and this is no exception. Loved this version of Dream On. And I'm going to keep in mind the lyrics and looking in the mirror and seeing the lines on your face getting clearer. At age 66, yes! That was the first thing I noticed. It's addictive. Then the part before that from 2:37 to 2:43 I repeat this part like 10000x I love how the threesome sing dream on in their own way not at the same time. Again, those parts are addictive and eargasmic.

I found it very poignant that the video ends with the group separated in their own individual spaces again. Usually you’d see the end of a video with the group rallying together, determined to face whatever obstacles they were singing about…was it all in their imagination that they came together in the first place? Or…do they all even exist in this space in the same time? Is Cesar sitting on the staircase, remembering fallen members of his group who at one time gave each other strength? Is Eli separated from his teammates, chronicling their exploits in his journal for future generations to find? We’ll never know: “the past is gone.” Music stuffs that I appreciated: Guys….vocals slides give me immediate goosebumps. They are so tasty. You got my attention with Eli’s and Cesar’s amazing asymmetrical slide at 0:22, and Geoff’s slide at 1:36 ending on that F1 subharmonic sent delicious shivers down my spine. *rewind-repeat-rewind-repeat* The inverted chords in the backing vocals at 0:51 swirl around ethereally, initially conveying a sense of despair which, by the end of the phrase, transition to a feeling of resolve and determination. There are similar chords at 3:04 which are a bit closer in voicing with a few more dissonant notes which, to me, sound a little more forlorn. Just when you think you know Layne’s entire library of sounds, he gives us 1:03 and 2:27, and that panning across left and right and back again which fits in perfectly with the setting of this old abandoned place. In a similar percussive vein, I really enjoyed the little jolting moments at 1:46 and 2:05 - they provided great interest without causing a break in the stride of the song. The astounding trio harmony at 2:47 (seriously, can we just stand and applaud for a moment here??) left my jaw hanging open - it was SO incredibly passionate and emotional! Underneath that, Geoff’s ascending subharmonic scale, ending with a jump of OVER TWO OCTAVES up to C4 and then, of course, jumping BACK DOWN sequential octaves to get back to that C2 (can we just stand and applaud AGAIN?) - yeah…this whole section was complete and utter perfection.

Well D*mn, I didn't think this video concept could get much darker, but thinking about it from this angle.... I think I might cry again 😭 On a lighter note, "rewind-repeat-rewind-repeat" - It has crossed my mind to wonder multiple times when going back to a particular juicy note or phrase - do the guys look back at RU-vid analytics and see major viewing spikes at iconic moments like this? 🤣

They really should audition for AGT or The Voice. They are so talented and successful in apps and social media now. However, showcasing a small sample of what they can do (even in just 1 audition) will give them more publicity and uplift/inspire EVERYONE who watches/hears them.

I didn’t think I knew this one but then Eli came in with that beautiful note on “sing with it” and I recognised the song as I really only listened to Janie’s Got A Gun when I listened to Aerosmith. This is a particularly wonderful masterpiece after Dragonborn Comes, it’s like you’ve come through your toughest battles have formed an unbreakable bond of friendship and love having survived the end of the world 💜💜💜💜💜

There's enough visual parallels between this and Dragonborn that now I want to read (or write) a story about five dudes who are simultaneously living out adventures in a medieval high fantasy and a post-apocalyptic wasteland and can't tell which one is real and which one is a dream.

I was initially really worried about that crazy high "Dream On" in there...Eli, Omar and Cesar hit it so hard I had goosebumps for several minutes after. That was absolutely incredible. Geoff was killing me with the bass as always and Layne's beat never fails to impress...but those three definitely stood out for this song.

Your creativity is off the charts. Geoff, may I just say, you sounded very "Geoff Castellucci"!!! I honestly can’t think of a greater compliment than that! Eli's voice is always so clean and he hits every note with such precision! Layne keeps the beat in awesome ways that tie the whole meody together, somehow Geoff's voice only gets lower with every song and gives the music such a backbone, Cesar adds style with a fluid and full voice, and Omar has an amazing range that I could listen to all day! Keep it up voiceplay!

Setting aside the fact that this is the most *original* arrangement of this song I've ever heard - I LOVE the vibe here. It has a real Linsey Stirling & Pentatonix "Radioactive" feel to it. Cool!!!!!! Note in "most original" comment above - yes, to me even over PMJ and Morgan James (an ASTONISHING cover) P.S. Can you guys just go ahead and make Omar a permanent member???? @@deanmarion5477 Agree with the thinking. IMO (and just opinion) Omar seems a countertenor. When his and Eli's parts overlap, it reminds me very much of the dynamic between Mitch and Kirsten (I still think of her as Kirstie) of Pentatonix. Part of PTX's magic is the ability to swap off parts seamlessly. It happens with Kirsten and Mitch, or Scott and Avi (now Matt). They can do it so quickly and effortlessly that it gives the illusion of there being more voices present than actually are. I'm hearing the same thing with Eli and Omar. On more than one occasion I've thought maybe VoicePlay should consider adding a female voice, but realize they probably DON'T want to be seen as copying Pentatonix.

@@jeffk1482: Voiceplay don’t have counter tenor because Eil is tenor 2 and Cesar de la Rosa he is baritenor. You also compare that with Penatatonix like you say: Mitch Grassi ( which he is countertenor) Kirsten ( which she is mezzo - soprano)

I like best how you ended with everyone separate, it makes the whole song/video pull at the heart strings. In Dragonborn Comes Omar you just wanted to enclose and protect, in this you want to hug Omar but let him lead you out

The brave apocalyptic warriors of Voiceplay have clearly been out fighting yet another great battle, but luckily are now safely back at their safe place, and to shake off todays battle they choose sing together to keep the faith and the dream of a better and brighter tomorrow alive.
