Beautiful but very emotional for me. I had it played at my late son’s funeral 6 years ago. He was a big Dream Theater fan and played drums in his own band. I miss him so badly.

hearing this solo helps me remember the best of times

I remember my mom telling me about this song a long time ago.. My older brother, who's the reason for my interest in metal and songwriting, used to sit in his room, trying to learn this solo. This was years before I picked up the guitar which I did when I was 10yo (21yo now). My mom used to stand behind the door and just listen, and she would actually cry. I love the energy, the sound, the emotions in metal, (and rock ofc). I love genres like bluegrass, edm, punk, jazz, classical, hip-hop, funk, folk, blues, (irrelevant, sry haha) etc. but no matter how much I enjoy certain genres and their unique ways of expressing emotions and beautiful sounds, be it the entire sound image of a song or just the phrasing of a rythm guitar, nothing beats the intensity of a beautiful melody. Dream Theater has certainly been a huge inspiriation in my life. I'm planning on releasing songs, but I just love listening to my own stuff haha. It's music for the music.

This solo is very shreddy but still there’s so much feel in it, it’s incredible. Definitely one of John’s best work

John Petrucci is my favoutite guitarist. There are a few differences between the original version and Viossy's one, but I'd never thought that someone can play a Petrucci-solo in some parts better than Petrucci. Dr. Viossy can! Awesome ideas, and fantastic performance!

I'd love to see JP's reaction to this (and Portnoy's too given the song), it's got so much emotion, shows off how beautiful metal can be and really gives the viewer an idea of the virtuosity needed to perform this at this level. 10/10 will watch again, and again
