So, if "BE" is the Hanja character that means "sadness", and we consider "cause" as a noun, that would make the meaning of this song's title as "The Cause of Sadness". And that would make the lyric "because I like you" to loosely mean "the cause of sadness is I like you". That's very deep & profound. “Smile when you see me, smile at me / It’s just the two of us in this dark room / If you play with me today / I’ll give you something sweeter tomorrow,” Gahyeon and Yoohyeon sing on the pre-chorus. Btw the one who laughed at the end is Gahyeon so we see that Gahyeon is the main character. + they representing dolls and doppelganger (mirroring each other) And if you see the full performance/choreo you see Sua has the strings and controls the members (puppets/dolls) Also the Hotel remains me of the Kdrama Hotel the Luna and the Hotel belongs to Jiu.
FINALLY someone noticed the t.A.T.u. sound, I’ve been saying this since I first went through their entire discography 😭 The songs What and Silent Night imo have the most similarities and I genuinely think their producers took some inspiration from the older t.A.T.u. stuff, which I absolutely love because I really digged their music back in the day. Dreamcatcher are just on another level, man. Great reaction!
why you scared? this is dreamcatcher's summer love story bop \:D/ just wait til they comeback during the winter ;) yeah, dreamcatcher often uses pop-culture to help convey the themes of their songs/mvs so keep that in mind if you are trying to figure out what's going on. you noticed the alice in wonderland reference and it's to portray the sense of duality. that's why you see duplicates throughout the mv and mirrors in dreamcatcher lore show a reflection but from the dark side. in one scene here, one member is seen giving an apple through a broken mirror to herself, to convey temptation. in this light, the lyrics and video are about our inner struggles between the good and bad side and which to listen to.
If you got the impression of a twisted love, toxic relationship kind of feel from this video and music then you nailed it. Because that's precisely the theme and the message that the producers want to portray for this comeback. The fact that you got the exact vibes they intended, without even understanding the language entirely, speaks a lot of how masterfully crafted their production and composition is. 👍
3:30 - 3:50 There it is. THERE IT IS! 💯 FINALLY! You sir have made an important observation that NOT A LOT OF OTHER REACTERS can even be bothered with and for that I thank you so much! Because it resonates so well to what most 1st time rocker/metalhead set of InSomnia (Dreamcatcher dare I say it; enjoys probably the world's largest subset of us in their fandom) had felt when any had stumbled on Deukae before. THAT was our "Holy shit! Who are these kpop girls!?" exact same moment, rest is that proverbial history. YES.
Yep, the visuals were inspired by US coupled with a theme they explored extensively in their Nightmare arc MV's. That is the dual nature of human beings that are creatures of light and darkness. All the mirrors are symbols of that and in the MV the dark side is reaching out and dominating the person because it wants love, but doesn't understand what love is. It wants to possess the love object and make it into a submissive doll. It's doing it because it doesn't want to be sad. BE sounds like the Chinese character for sad.
Well, well, well. Hi there! _(Quote from Yoohyeon)_ Dreamcatcher are outdoing themselves here once again. Musically, the song is a fantastic journey. There actually are "cute" parts, but there also are parts where the guitars go full metal. The variations in BEcause remind me of their previous masterpiece, Deja Vu. The bridge with SuA's slow rap and Yoohyeon's adlibs is possibly the most beautiful one they have ever done. About the meaning: According to Dami, BEcause is about love becoming obsession. And also, this is a stand-alone story. They go back to their horror roots, which I really enjoy. One commenter noted that if you look at "BE" as a written Chinese character "悲“, that would mean "sadness". So the song title would mean "The Cause of Sadness". And that would make the lyric "because I like you" to maybe mean "the cause of sadness is I like you". That commenter is Jad Hamizan and he deserves all the credit for noticing that. The video picks up on that. JiU seems to be the puppet master here (or her doppelganger!). She is the one trapping the other members and turning them into puppets, but Gahyeon tries to escape (as you can see by her throwing off the cage right in the beginning). It seems JiU catches her again though, "because she likes her". And this didn't even include the references to the movie "Us". The lyrics are even creepier. SuA sings: "Your expression is blue, blue. Your face is like ocean view.", hinting at strangulation due to the one being obsessed taking things way, way too far. Dreamcatcher are clearly not afraid to tackle the difficult subjects, and they do it masterfully here - again. For me, this is more than just pop, it is art.
Maybe nostalgic is the prefect word for me too. 😊 Dreamcatcher makes me very happy with their style that is different and very unique yet reminds me of the kind of rock bands I used to listen more often than pop in general (specially j rock that I love). And those girls are gorgeous, everything becomes so mesmerizing!
@@rjkpop yes it is. There are several references in the MV. Shots and scenes and even the theme of a dark doll trying to take the place of the human light one. Taking place in a carnival. There is a reactor who broke down quite a bit of the theme pretty well and showed side by side shots of this MV and the movie Us, Jordon Orme.
OMG ! The best song and album (BEcause, Whistle, Alldaylong) of the year?! As always, Dreamcatcher is Dreamcatcher ! 🤩 I think you must check their B sides. You must be shocked. 😉 I'm waiting to receive this best album. Thanks. From N.Y.
