DREAMCATCHER (드림캐쳐) REACTION - [VillainS] EP Album REACTION 

I'll be honest, at first I was a little disappointed because it wasn't like Dreamcatcher, but that was a mistake. I think I listened to it 50 times a day to increase the number of views on the official channel. I must have watched it 200 times by now. I love it now and I blame myself for not understanding it at first.

I definitely feel like the OOTD is taking a "shot" at the industry so to speak. There's so many red flags throughout the song/video - the way the scenery and the girls are constantly being edited in real-time, meta moments indicating them taking part in photoshoots and filming and the way these scenes are framed (for example, cutting out what seems to be bruised legs on Handong). Then the way they're actually portrayed and acting; very stereotypically sprawled over the most obvious choices for luxury vehicles (a Mustang, and mentioning a Rolls Royce?), the way they're constantly acting flippant while too busy on their phones, even the mentions of "popping champagne," trying to draw attention to their luxury ("look at my necklace"), and having "cash in the back seat" seems satirically pedantic. You have JiU portrayed in one of those "packaged" photoshoots that were so popular for the era years back, you have Dami (the member least likely to drink) talking about driving drunk and shown drinking (and add to this her rather on-the-nose "Do you feel like a monster?" line). Heck, I'm even theorizing about the very brief moment where Handong is giving the middle finger (something she mirrors in the recent Performance MV) with the way she does her countdown that feels almost pointed. And this is without even getting into the metric boatload of references to their ARG/myco game about pursuing the crown in the MV. I agree with you, I think Part 2 is going to incorporate "Heroes" or "Goddesses" or "Saviors," as a method to deal with these "Villains" there were created through narcissism and pursuit of power/wealth/fame (the crown). Soundwise, Rising definitely could've worked as a title track in theory but I actually wouldn't even want them to attempt any kind of choreo for it. It feels like a spiritual successor to "Break The Wall" and better suited for a song they can just sing and let it all out on. And I agree with how Yoohyeon's interlude plays into the ARG and storyline they're doing. Almost like she is breaking the fourth wall in the song to reach out - a warning? Or meant to entice? This album has given us *so* much. Dongie is absolutely shining more and more with every comeback and this is the best we've seen of her (her RANGE throughout "OOTD," "Rising," and "Shatter" is just crazy). Dami and JiU both got to really show off aspects of their vocals they don't normally get to (especially Dami's singing in "We Are Young" and JiU's belting in "Rising" were such a pleasant surprise). SuA still gets to flaunt that she's a powerhouse vocalist following up her amazing note from "BONVOYAGE" last comeback with "Rising." Yoohyeon repeatedly shows that she absolutely would be the main vocalist in any other group (that note at the end of "Shatter" is just chilling, one of the most hauntingly beautiful things I've heard). I know everyone would like to hear Gahyeon rap more but the vocal strength she's showing here more than makes up for it (and she remains a visual queen every time with her facial expressions, *especially* in the "Shatter" performance). And Siyeon... it feels like a disservice to just say "Siyeon is Siyeon," but it's really the best way to explain how she comes into every song with so much energy and passion because we all know you could put a phonebook in front of Siyeon and she'd make it an incredible vocal journey.

That's Sua and Gahyeon harmonizing in Shatter. They have a moment together in the choreo. Yoohyeon isn't involved. As for the abrupt ending, they're singing about "turning into stone," so at the end they just...do.

We are young is my favorite song from the album! I didn’t even like edm at first until listening to a bunch of dc albums. ‘In the frozen’ and ‘Can’t get you out of my mind’ were one of my fav. Rising and Shatter were amazing but We are young is just on repeat, and Dreamcatcher singing this live with the crowd doing the ‘woa’s will absolutely wreck me

Shatter is indeed about Medusa! Siyeon turns into stone at the end before the can finish the last line, that's the abrupt ending. Medusa got cursed for the actions of a man, and she just want to be free from the curse like Jiu sings at the start Dongies vocals this entire album are crazy im so happy she got to show off! She had a lot of the same lines as siyeon/yoohyeon and she killed it

They are killing the vocals on this very cohesive album! ♥ I highly recommend watching Shatter from their showcase, one of my favourite stages by DC - fantastic outfits, choreo and song. ♥ My favourite songs are Rising and Shatter! ♥

Shatter is inspired by medusa thats why they say "turn into stone" and at the end they cut the phrase bc they turned into stone 😮😮😮😮

Shatter is my thing and it will always be my thing. There's something so mesmerizing,so haunting, so seductive with DC's manipulative vocals. Like a calling....its magical 🤩 what a trippy ride. You're right about Medusa. You're so well versed with mythology and I agree with this being just the first part. Yes, those two goddess? Interesting!

34:54 Dongie is a good vocalist. She is definitely one of my favorite singers among all the groups I follow. I don't know if you've heard this yet, but there are some solo songs from her, there's one on Spotify ( 那天 ) and the others are only available on Chinese platforms (of course, all sung in Mandarin) in case you're interested in listening to them 👍

Enjoyed your reaction. And yeah, I believe you may be on the spot with your analysis on OOTD. I thought of it almost the same way. Rising totally destroyed me. I love that track so much that I got a sore neck from headbanging. Shatter is a track that's totally mesmerising and We Are Young, well what can I say, brings back memories of my clubbing days. Overall, an awesome album. Took a couple of days to process OOTD, I love just listening to the audio version instead of the one with the MV and I especially love the live version. I still stand by my comments about the sound Engineering on OOTD, not happy with the vocal effects but well, that's just my opinion. I am happy that they have adopted a bit of the industrial vibe and will be interesting to see where they take it next because the only way is up and Duekae are rising. Dreamcatcher is the DREAM. 🤘🥰🤘

I respect Rising to the max.. having rare gem SuA belters and full chorus Handong in one song. low tone "talksing" Yoohyeon followed by Dami sounds like a switch part too. JiU with power vocals also Gahyeon power vocals last chorus.. and still having Siyeon in high level, all in one song.. really a blast of talent fr.. I always give chance for the sounds that's not my type (happened to For, from not my type to enjoy the song), but having full talent showcase in a song is another level of aspect I respect the most, regardless what's the genre/sounds.. so definitely Rising rated up high for me among the songs in this album also.. the worst dreamcatcher song is still in a good level. haven't felt bad of any song so far

I saw somewhere (I am not sure if it was in the Discord or if it was elsewhere - I've seen a lot of OOTD content) that they were referencing a bunch of old 2nd gen stuff in OOTD (such as Black Dress by CLC, and some of their choreo moves were straight out of 2nd gen) - someone made a really good list, I'll have to see if I can find it somewhere. Re: the Goddesses - I know I was part of that conversation, lol, but someone said for Nepthys maybe they just thought it sounded cool and didn't want to put Isis bc...you know, terrorists. Dongie ATE this album, FR FR. Edit: Literally everyone has said We Are Young is gonna be a banger at concerts and I 1000% agree!

This album as always is AMAZING! I cant wait to get it, i belive it has finally shipped so hopefully I get it soon. I coudlnt pick a version so got the random version, so excited for it. The vocals in all the songs are just chefs kiss, and all so different once again proving how amazing our women are! Yooh has some incredible vocal agility, Dami once again showing off and proving she is more than a rapper, Gahyeon and Handong have improved so much and this is definetly Handong's era!! She is getting so much recognition and its great. DC has always been fair with their line distribution and now after Gah and Dongie being veterans and more confident they are starting to shine more and more. Loved hearing your theories and ideas about the album, the Medusa theory is kinda of interesting and makes sense!! DC has so much hidden messages and put so much thought into their concepts that honestly you could be right. PS: IF you havent go watch the showcase versions of the B-sides!!!! OMG..... they never disappoint.

My theory about this album : OOTD : The girls show how the industry is showing "fake" people (like the fake fight scene between Yoohyeon & Handong) Rising : They show how every idol purpose is to "rise" (maybe that's why it sounds like a "battle song") Shatter : Idols seeking fame more than reality can turn them into "stones", no humans anymore. We are young : The stones are broken, the faking is gone, this song is a hope song for every idol getting out of the mold. Venus & Nephtys + Beauty is dangerous / Reality is fabulous = When an idol girl wants to rise, to become a goddess, it's dangerous, it's better to show the "real you". "Versus Villains" is an album where they portray the villains, while being against it. And you can read a "uS" in the word versus, so i guess they might fight against the rush towards celebrity ? It can make sense since they fought a long way to get their first win, this album is maybe there to remember that the most important is not the "winning a competition" but rather having fun, being young and love what you're doing, love your music.

Nice theory, I like the duality of Beauty and Decay, Rebirth and Death. They are so different. I love them and respect the producers and company so much for that. The Shatter showcase is the better thing they've ever done imho.

Rising is my favorite off this EP. It’s absolutely classic J-Rock inspired Dreamcatcher. I need more of this sound for the next comeback, DCC, thanks. I feel it’s the best DC song since Reason. And Propose of course.

Ending in shatter the meaning behind is that they are singing about turning into the stone (by Medusa) and st- at the end means they turned into the stone sorry I can't explain it better English it's not my first language

Two days ago for one of a music show, apparently there's mystery code in "attendance card" by DCC for somnias attending. TLDR: 1. treasure hunt to order "crown" in a specific cafe. 2. they got a usb drive from the cafe containing audio file 3. it contains recordings of the members talking about having the 100th 'sacrificial' followers (all in their acting voice haha) So yea there's a huge possibility ootd will tie up to the upcoming title track.

Yes, they confirmed this is part one of a two part series. JiU seemed to confirm that the second part is the Heroes album. I'm going to assume the narcissistic villains in the mv are the real Dreamcatcher's doppelgangers & the second part will be the real Dreamcatcher and they'll be the heroes.

As much as I like the choreo for Shatter I wish at concerts at least for the chorus they go freestylng individually. Especially I want to see Jiu headbanging like crazy.
