Coconut Oil takes out the tape and residue. Then use clarifying shampoo to remove the oil. Works like a charm.

Years ago, I had the bead-like extensions and nearly had a major problem when I was in a bad car accident. The beads were made of a metal (I am unsure if they still are) that didn't allow for an MRI scan to be done of my head without them being removed first. They wanted to shave my head as there wouldn't have been time to take each one out with the process of removal. They ended up doing a CT scan instead and when nothing appeared on the scan, they decided not to do the MRI. However, something to consider that I don't think many people would think of when getting them - I know I sure didn't before that happened.

Thanks for the video. Sorry this happened to you but its definitely a install error. I've had tape ins for 6 years. To blend different colours with tape ins you sandwhich two different colour together to get fine highlights. And you can mix and match multiple colours by changing up what colours are sandwiched together. Tapes also shouldnt be installed right to the scalp. You should be able to move them easily and should be able to put your hair up with no issue.

I had a terrible experience with tape ins. They were showing trough my hair and my head hurt so much! I had headache everyday and even after I removed them I still had scabs on my head. I was so upset and I tough that my hair was just too thin to have any kind of extension but I tried keratin ones and they are perfect for me. Non visible at all and I can’t feel it. Now I can style my hair however I want it and it looks beautiful. Love it !

Oh no, probably the adhesive. Had that happen with bandaids before. Each side where the adhesive was, the skin came off with the bandaid.

to get rid of the tape residue you need to use acetone and a castor oil lotion so that the residue crushes with acetone and just swiped down to the ends with the oil . (excuse my english)

fyi if using tape in extensions you can mix colors. I have taken and put one color on top and one on the bottom gives a beautiful highlight/lowlight effect. You can get a lot of depth to your hair with tape in's as well. Agree you should go to licensed stylist who has done extensions of what ever type you decide on.
@dawnwr30
@dawnwr30 5 лет назад
You can make the tape ins smaller. They can be cut, they don't have to stay that big. And for getting the glue residue out use Olive oil. Soak the hair in Olive oil pan a shower cap on for an hour. Take it off and rub the hair between your fingers. The oil will remove the sticky residue plus it's good for your hair.
@BalancedMindAndBody
@BalancedMindAndBody Год назад
My stylist told me olive oil is actually horrible for your hair unless you use it sparingly once in a while. It clogs the hair follicle preventing new growth, & if you apply it regularly it will start to form a barrier over the hair that water will even have a hard time penetrating.

Loved my tape in extensions, they were beautiful, but, I definitely had hair breakage each time during maintenance. I had them for over a year with recommend maintenance. I went to the TOP salon in my area and the most highly certified artist. He took extreme care for my hair but, the process is tough on naturally thin, color treated hair.

I’m a stylist and for clients that want tape-ins, I suggest using tape-ins in the back up to right behind the ear, and fusion for the sides. It works out great because tape-ins get weird on the sides of you want to pull your hair back, especially when they grow out, even if they are installed diagonally. Also I specialize in hair loss/thinning so tape ins on sides can show.

Yes i have fine hair and after a month or so of growth you can see the tape on the sides. One unprofessional stylist was complaining because after 2 months i wanted them moved up and and whined it was too early and ripped them out of my hair causing so much hair loss.
@jessicablue2389
@jessicablue2389 4 года назад
????? If you specialize in hair loss and thinning. And really care about the client's hair. Then you should recommend that it's not a good idea. For the client. Just saying if I have to turn away clients, I will. Just because I care more about their hair. Then What money they can put in my pocket. Also I've had tape ins myself And putting my hair in a ponytail whether it be high or low. I've never had an issue with it showing Or it ever being uncomfortable. It's the placement. You really need to Learn more about placement. I'm sorry. I don't mean to rain on your parade, but extensions are a very touchy subject. Also, they make very good adhesive remover. You just have to let it soak a little while. Longer than what the package says. I say about 5 minutes longer. And then do a keratin treatment after.
@MamaKat27
@MamaKat27 4 года назад
Jessica Blue As a hair loss specialist I ABSOLUTELY take into consideration the clients hair. I have refused to do services if I thought it would cause further damage. I care more about my clients hair than $$ in my pocket. As a matter of fact I’m taking a Trichology course to help clients get to the “root” of the problem because, for me, I’d like to offer more than a “bandaid” but a solution. So don’t worry about “raining on my parade” because that’s not even a possibility. I know what I’m doing, but thanks for the comment. Every client is different, I go over all the options, discuss pros and cons, take into consideration their lifestyle and commitment to upkeep, budget and upkeep costs, in addition to what’s going on with their hair and scalp; I take all things into consideration before making a recommendation but the final decision is theirs. So, like I said, no worries, your comment doesn’t offend me at all. I’m confident in my performance because of my experience and continued education. I’m certified with HairDreams, Evolve, and Micropoint Solutions; all companies that offer solutions other than tape-Ins or beads, or fusion. And I work for myself and have personally funded all of my education and certifications, so my work and reputation are all me. I love what I do. But thanks for the advice.

You can get a couple different packs for the tape ins. When you go to sandwich the extensions, instead of using two blondes, use a blonde and a dark and sandwich those.. or whatever colors you need and they can be colored (depending on the brand) and still give dementions. They are still customizable as the beads.

I agree. Another pro to tape ins is that u can cut them into smaller pieces where ever u want to add color or flexibility especially around the sides and top. Micro beads are way too time consuming to put in, retouch, and take out...ain't got time for that😉

Thank you for your video. I just ordered hair and am getting the micro beads done. The beads are made of silicone. It depends what your going for ( tape vs beads) but I am planning on at least 2 hours in the chair. I just had the sew_in/braid tracks and it f#cked my hair I had way thicker hair before I got the extensions sewn in & I feel the difference I was going for length not volume so much, now I need it for fullness and length be careful who does your hair and do your homework/hairwork :) I find when I do something impulsively I pay the price so this time I went to a friend who's a hairstylist she had the beads in her hair n they looked great so we ordered the hair she explained everything and I should have my micro hair beads in about 10 days. Again thanks for the video I was contemplating the tape ins but I just can't see them lasting and the stickiness of them just doesn't seem feasible especially if your like me and wash your hair a lot
@joanteague9796
@joanteague9796 2 года назад
I really hate the feel of these beads. I’m fixin to take these sewn in ones out and go back to the tapes. Much more comfortable and I don’t have to feel those stinkin beads! Plus it takes forever and a day to get the micro beads done because your doing such tiny pieces at a time.

I too have been around the extension block. I find tape-ins are better for me only because I have SUPER thin hair so when I got the beaded hair first and it made my already thin hair look stringy. I felt like they tangled easier and I always had to brush them to keep them from looking stringy.
@mizkatiehill
@mizkatiehill 6 лет назад
I hadn't thought about the "stringy" hair, but that makes sense! I have noticed that different hair quality will effect the how the hair tangles. Not saying your beaded extensions were bad, but I always noticed that when I had clip ins, the hair seemed to get tangled easier than other types of hair extensions I have had. Not sure why that is other than hair quality, but I don't know! Thoughts?
@MandyNCardoso
@MandyNCardoso 6 лет назад
MizKatieHill I’ve tried dream catchers, they’re the best imo too. My hairdresser would prefer the beaded extensions because getting the tape out is a pain and it’s sticky BUT my hairs health is so good now. I think you really have to do your research and make sure you have a qualified stylist. You gave amazing pros and cons to both sides. Unfortunately my hair being so thin, the beads just doesn’t look right for my hair. She uses different colors of extensions for my hair and she strategically places each sandwich. Sometimes using 2 different colors to sandwich to get the look.
@mizkatiehill
@mizkatiehill 6 лет назад
I didn't even think about sandwiching good colors. Good point! Yes, I agree! I think 90% of it is about the stylist and how you take care of them!

For you and for all those ladies watching this video, there is a super easy way to take off tape hair extensions. Solvent C-22, is a citrus oil that you spray on the tape and in less than 30 seconds, the extension slips off. It also removes any kind of adhesive left on the hair very easily without any breakage or pulling. Salons don't like to use it because they have to wash your hair afterwards so they go the cheap route of using alcohol and practically tea the extension open along with some of your hair. Just an FYI.
@YugoslavGirl
@YugoslavGirl 5 лет назад
You said salons don't like to use the oil u mentioned cause they have to wash the hair afterwards but that doesn't make sense to me. Tape ins are usually in for a while so when they remove them they have to wash your hair thoroughly to get out any remaining residue and dirt after removing the glue. What salon would just send u home before doing that?
@ArtisansAlchemy
@ArtisansAlchemy 5 лет назад
@Lpg 8 I use Solvent C-22 to remove tape in hair extensions and I always shampoo and dry a clients hair before any extensions process (application or removal). If a hairstylist/salon isn't doing that, they don't care and it's wrong and your hair extensions won't last.

Wow thats so informative. You have gone through what i have. I get the microbeads which here in australia are cheaper than tape. Ive got a lady that just specialses in mucro beads and shes fantastic. The tape i find pull on your hair. Rip it when they are getting taken out even if done properly. You cant wear your hair up its sticky when its hot. The micro beads like you said take a day or 2 to get used to but are much more affordable here. They do not ruin your hair. You can mix and match colours. Wear your hair in different styles. But again it has to be someone who knows what they are doing. GREAT REVIEW. IM SURE A LOT OF PEOPLE WILL FIND IT VERY INFORMATIVE. 😊
@dawnwr30
@dawnwr30 5 лет назад
You can mix the colors with tape ins too. You can also cut them to be smaller pieces. And if you use Olive oil on your hair it will get rid of the sick residue left behind. Your hair will definitely still grow while they are in. Hair grows from the root and tape ins don't go directly to the scalp. If taken out properly there is no damage. Beads cause breakage. There's no way around it. The way they are tightened with the tool or a lot of strain on the hair.

Hi can you recommend the person that installs the micro bead extensions
@Gina-yp3ob
@Gina-yp3ob 5 лет назад
Your video was very informative. I am a Certified Hair extension specialist myself and do mini micro beads which the beads are the size of the end of a pen is the best way to describe them. They are much easier on the hair as the strands are much smaller less weight per strand of natural hair. You can style your hair which ever way you desire including pony tails.

Omg gurl .... She better have gave you a full refund. .... I would of demanded to speak with the salon owner and let them know what happened. She should of atleast removed the tape. She just didn't want to mess with it. ..... Uhhhh so sorry this happened to you.

Loved the video, very informative. You said in the video that you bought the extensions and went to the salon with them. Can you please tell me where you bought them? I've been looking all over and can't find them..... Thank you!

I’m sure by now (a year and a half later) a few new & different kinds of extensions came on to the market. Which one I do know of that has to do with 2 different kinds of tape extensions. There’s one that’s called mini tape ins. It’s about a quarter of the size of a regular tape in. Their kinda made for someone to put highlights or lowlights in or even tricolor all through out your hair. They go in the same way as regular tape ins. The other kind is (I can’t think of the name of them) but their small like the 1/3 mini tape in except instead of sandwiching your hair these you put your hair in and you fold it in half then take your straight or flat iron and tap it a few times or hold it for 2 - 3 seconds and this ensures it sealed the glue really well. These are also made for either highlights /lowlights or if you buy enough of them you can make a full head worth. Just wanted to let you know.

Tape in have gotten more popular but the price has now gone thru the roof. And they out less and less hair in them and charge much more. Ridiculous.

I have naturally THIN black hair and I love love love having long, THICK hair. I’m afraid to try extensions again after 5-6 years because I had sew ins and glue ins and they were an absolute nightmare. The glue was the WORST and the sew ins were bad coming out. I’m wanting to try tape ins especially since my wedding is getting closer and the beading I don’t like the idea of, seems like a nightmare and very tedious.

I would get both moved up every 6-8 weeks. But the actual hair lasting will depend on the quality of the hair, how you take care of it, etc. :)

It really depends on how much hair you need and your stylist/city you live in. I paid 100 per pack of hair and I needed 5 packs. The installation will vary depending on the stylist. Initial install was 200, but the move up is cheaper.

Can’t believe how expensive it is in the US ! In the uk the most expensive is around £500 that includes the hair ,the fitting and a cut and blow dry ! £500 is for about 24 inches and the most grams !

Yup, definitely depends on where you are. I got two packs, $150 a pack. $100 for each hour in her chair, so the first install was a tad less, but each maintained trip is about an hour to remove, clean tape residue, reapply adhesive, and reinsert, then style if needed.

Mine lasted about 6 months and I take really good care of my extensions. At about 4 months, I had to trim them up a bit to make them look fresh again until they just didn't look good anymore. My dreamcatchers tape ins lasted much longer. I still have them actually. Those were the ones I showed in the video. To make them last longer, I would recommend gently brushing from the bottom and then working your way up, don't overuse the purple shampoo (it's drying) and baby them! Use masks. I like the Macademia Nut Nourishing Mask and then I use a lot of hair oils on the ends. My current favorite is the Verb Ghost Oil. I hope that helps! I know, hair is so expensive!

Yes just not near as much as you would regularly depending on what kind.. I wear tape ins and I wash about once every 6 days and use dry shampoo in between I do my style as such... day 1 curl day two dry shampoo curl... day three half way up and maybe curl or a bend.. day. 4 usually s braid maybe or half up braid because the extensions don’t get all oily or whatever so as long as your dry shampooing your roots and scalp and brush carefully... day 5 messy bun and day 6 the same maybe messy bun or two Dutch braids pulled out to cover anything... you kinda just have to know like if I want to wear my hair down for something special then that needs to be a wash day... or the day after... I know for those of you that have never had e tensions but that first wash of washing and blow drying your hair and the tape ins it just makes them all more cohesive and seem and feel like your natural hair...remember like anything else there will be a pro and con regardless of what type you decide to use it’s causin stress in the hair and if tour stylist is ignorant to how to properly put them in and advise you on home care for these Most precious and expensive things then tour screwed I don’t care what they put in your hair

How much does it cost for tape in?
@richhairphilly
@richhairphilly 5 лет назад
Ermana Shoaib the price for tapes changes per salon and the look that you want. If you want length and thickness you’ll need more tapes (about 20-30 extensions depending how thick your own hair is) If you just want volume to just make your hair thicker then you’ll need about 10-15 extensions. Now the price breakdown factors Length of hair being ordered.. longer the hair. The more money and more hair needed. Color of hair you’ll need. Blondes are more expensive than darker colors as the darker hair is more common, and gos through less treatment in the making. In my salon. We keep it simple. We charge you the price of the hair ordered.. and then $225 for the installation (this is the same price for the 6-8 week maintenance) so the average price for say 18 inch on someone with normal amount of hair is about 650-750 depending on the color or hair being ordered. (That’s the price of hair and the installation combined) Hope this was helpful

My stylist said the beads are only slightly more expensive, but take about twice as long to install, and that’s twice as much time in her chair, which means twice the cost for each maintenance visit, also.

Ok so thin hair.. flat... but like to run hands thru it.. do u feel tape let's u run hands thru it? Does beads give u volume or look bumpy... and on short hair (awkward tweaks stage) what's the best type when I need short hair underneath to lay down?, I'll use a flat iron prob. I guess I'm thinking, if u air dry ur hair... do beads cause any funky texture... where u have to use heat to fix it... or do tapes air dry funny? I usually dont use any heat on my hair when long. But this short I cnt avoid it. I like to air dry then heat on my tips to fix tweaky pieces. I want minimal maintenance of them without heat tools and wet hair... i.e. camping or beach. I'm driving cross country and want to be able to jump in a river, and get back in and drive and air dry hair with no fuss. Braids b4 swiming not big deal, but drying is my concern.
@LittleMissDaniLeigh

kris it’s recommended with tape in extensions to try to blow dry as much as possible to avoid mildew issues. I hate blow drying my hair tho and have had tape in for ~5 months now, and my stylist says every time I go in for maintenance how great they’re looking, etc. You definitely cannot run your hand all the way through your hair (starting from your scalp) as the tape acts as a blocker, but from after the tape, yes you can. If you do blow dry, be careful not to tug hard on your hair while drying, as the heat can loosen the adhesive, and if you tug, it will pull it out. I’ve gotten blowouts at DryBar lately, and each time even though telling them I have tape extensions, they’ve tugged too hard and one or two fell out within days after my visit each time.

MizKatieHill you can do so much more with micro weft extensions. At fisrt they hurt a little till they settle in. But they are amazing. You cant see them. I guess its personal choice. My sylist is cheap and specialises in them. Shes quick as. Makes sure it suits you. I didnt get a headache from them. The micro bead wefts are done so quick. . Tapes have gained popularity here but now a lot of hairdressers here are learning the micro weft
