The price for hair extensions in the US is astronomical it’s crazy! I’m in the UK and I’ve got 24inch nano bead extensions and I paid £400 for 200g of AAAAA double drawn remy royale human hair and an extra £75 to have them toned to be a perfect shade match and fitted so a total of £475 for hair, toning and installation. I pay £115 every 8-12 weeks to have them removed, my roots recoloured and the extensions refitted at an award winning salon. The fact that it’s common to be paying almost $3000 is crazy to me
I agree not with extensions, but everything is ridiculous expensive in America. Americans are getting robbed I tell you. I’m in Eastern Europe now everything much cheaper.
You’re so right. It’s so hard to have it so incredibly high now! Been doing every method since Monofiber@Antenna! The late great Simon Forbes 💙Yes! UK inventor of EXT!!
Bead extensions ruined my hair.broke it all…my hair was coloured blonde and long but they thinned it to nothing and broke it all.I had to have it cut back short and start from scratch. Its NOT worth it!
This video has been top of mind for a long time! I hope this helps anyone looking for answers when it comes to whether or not extensions might be right for you. Sending you so much love! I’ve tried every hair extention as well for 14 years. She is right sleeping in clip ins is very damaging …I use to sleep in my clip ins out of insecurity of my short hair showing….tape ins most definitely rips out your hair no matter what brand over ever used they just slide off eventually and such a waste of money (get prepared to wash ur hair only in the sink with cold water because they will just slide off)….Hand tied extentions with micro beads is the best route I’ve ever went…when I get them removed I have literally no hair shed and I can see a progress in my hair growing…also don’t let these salons fool you…I spend 250-350 on my 3 bundles of hair on Amazon and a micro bead kit and literally install my hair myself besides spending 1200$ plus dollars on hair… it is super easy…. Hand tied is the best way to go
I want extensions now my hair is so short but I want to sleep and wash with them so I feel as though tapes would be the best option. Could you please share how to maintain it? 😊
i have a question...yousaid micro bead kit is what you use...yet say hand tied...aren't these two separate ways to install extensions? I thought the micro beads had to be flattened onto the hair. What am i missing? ps Im a licensed cosmetologist, just don't work in salon. I want to do my own extensions.
This video is everything I have been looking for. I just got an awful haircut and I think after the summer I will get extensions. I just don't even know where to start. Thanks so much!
I use Bellami tape-ins. The hair you lose with these, when moving up, is minimal. I found they are the best tape-ins for that. They cost a lot, but they’re 💯 worth it.
I've used those before too! They were great! I didn't find it to be the best technique for my hair but on of my best friends does those and she suits them so well!
Professional stylist here, you actually can reuse the keratin bond extensions. You just cut the used material off the top and reattach to the client's hair with a replacement keratin bead.
Hello! I know you posted this comment about a year ago so I hope you see this but I just have a question about the keratin bonds. I’ve been thinking about doing this with my hair but if you’re cutting the used material off the extensions do they go slightly lower or would they still be placed close to the scalp
I wore extensions for years from one of the masters in the 90s. Just getting back to it now due to hair loss. Glad to see costs have come way down. Whole head back then was $1300 for synthetic.
I have a thin hair, so I was suggested to use a Tape Extensions, I bought expensive one for 450€( with extra adhesive tapes, and last for 10 months. But when we take them off, the glue on tapes often gets stuck beetwen hairs and with acetone and brushing it takes an hour to clean it all. Technitian tried with different acetons but still is a nightmare( not for me but her).. she said that she never had such problems with other clients. Personally I know some of them so I am worried? Why is it so? Any suggestion? Rarely they come off. Every 6weeks(2.5- 3cm) we relocate it. 5 euros per each tape. Croatia
A very informative video. Thank you 🥰. Your hair looks lovely, did you say you have hair extentions in or is that all your natural hair? Either way it looks great!
Thank you so much Lauren that means so much to me! I currently have those hand-tied ones in but I am feeling confident when I have my natural hair as well. :) Just nice to have a little more volume and hair that will hold a curl! xo
Wow… all of the techniques mentioned here are considered out-of-date in Vietnam 🇻🇳 most of them are like 7-10 years ago. The extension we have now is also “hand tied” but not these big & heavy/ damaging ones 🥺
@@user-iv6ty3cd5iI think technically they’d be under the category of Hand-tied. But it’s super small. In my experience, it’s like they crochet each strand of extensions onto your hair… Also for the last 2-3 years, they even have a new technique (which they call 8-9-10D but obviously the name is for marketing purposes). With this technique they use some kind of clipping device (looks kinda like a stapler) and basically just clip each very small strand of extensions on to your hair. That’s the best I could do to describe it 😂 I honestly don’t know the actual name of those techniques in English…
I think I've seen that technique on a shorts video... it looked really efficient and so neat... here in the US there's such a big emphasis on making the most money 😮 so I feel like a lot of stylist want to charge the most so stick with techniques they can justify the time and money they charge... personally I started doing my own k tips because I refuse to keep paying $1,400 usd for hand tied wefts(the big ones) lol
Hi! Found this while scouring the net for aftercare information. Getting extensions soon and so NERVOUS about living with them post application! Since we are only to wash our hair once every 7-10 days, are we really applying dry texture spray on each style on the days between washing? Is there any concern about product buildup? Thanks!
Nice video Consultations can take forever when you do all the methods!!, (ps please don’t call it glue 😮 make sure you call it keratin/polymer) ….great job 😊
"you cannot do hand tied extensions at home" tell my bestie thats gonna install and blend them for me in my bathroom that 😂 awesome video btw, very informative!
Do you have to get the texture of the hair to match your own hair texture? I’m just picturing my fine limp hair mismatching these thick beautiful hair extensions and sticking out lmao
Absolutely! I oil my hair allll the time - typically just the ends. I find I wash less which helps my scalp from getting dry. Definitely depends on the type of extension you have but I would always recommend using hair oil on the ends as it will keep them healthy longer and avoid any brittle unnecessary flaking 🥰
Please can anyone assist me i want to change my hair color from dark brown to ginger but I'm still having my micro keratin hair extensions can i dye my hair while still having my extensions on ? I got them 3 months ago but now i want to change my hair color
I'd be interested in hearing about how you care for your hair. My hair and coloring are just like yours, and I've been washing my hair six times a week for years...when I hear that women with extensions are only washing their hair once or twice a week, I'm horrified and fearful I will look like the crypt keeper. I'm getting hand tied extensions next week...I'm excited, and I trust my hair stylist. It's an investment, though, and I'd like to care for it the right way.
Super helpful. I went to hairdresser she wanted to trim my ends. Ended up cutting over 4" yup. I almost passed out. I ended up with a mullet look. Longer in back to my shoulders sides shorty short. Oh now I have a wedding to go to. Of course the dress is open in the back. Oh no... Thank you getting my hair done after this video.
Aw oh my gosh that is SOOOO TRAUMATIC! I am so sorry you ended up with that haircut 🥹 I hate that feeling so much because it takes so long to grow. Hope you found the method that works best for you love and no matter what have so much fun at the wedding! 🥰 Your dress sounds gorgeous!
Girl same. I went to have two inches cut. I even showed her visually where I want it. She told me to flip my head down. A minute later and she threw a heap of my hair at my feet. She ended up cutting 5/6 inches off and my hair ended up at my collar bones when it used to be at my waist. I just wanted her to refresh my long hair and give it layers. I almost cried when I got home. Now I’m look at extensions.
Would love to see the video about caring for the hand tied sew in extensions … how do you wash and style your hair etc… also a follow up video to this one would be good ❤. Would love to know if you’re still wearing and living the extensions and if you’ve experienced any damage . Thank you for a great video!!!
Very informative. I have very thin hair and I know it can be a pull on confidence. would you please compare the extensions in these categories too: 1. Compare them regarding how difficult they are to be washed? 2. Comparing regarding how difficult they are to sleep on? 3. Which one is least visible and are least chance to show? 4. and which one is better to style?
Very informative- thank you. I think I’ll need to investigate the ones I can Clip on. I find going to the salon too expensive since I already go to dye my roots every month. Perhaps you can do a video or review clip on we can put on ourselves.
hi! could these work for people who has hair loss? i’m 16 and lost probably like 50% of my hair from some medicine. it’s killed my confidence, i loved my hair so so much and im gutted to not have it. my curls made me feel so connected to my culture and my family. i was looking into these, would u recommend?
@@triss1144 I wish I knew this way back then because they definitely could have been used again! Thanks for adding even more information to this little nook of the internet 🥰
Thank you for such an informative video! I’m getting my first set of extensions in a couple of weeks which are the tape extensions. I’m nervous about not washing my hair correctly after they’re in place and not brushing or styling right, so I’ll be definitely watching more of your videos! If anyone has any top tips I’d be grateful 🧡🌟 Thank You once again for the great video 🌟🌟
Ahh I missed this comment I hope it went well! ❤️ I always am super careful when washing and even sometimes separate sections and am just a bit more gentle. I also NEVER go to bed with wet hair this is SO SO SO important. You will wake up a tangled mess haha. Make sure you are brushing right from the top of the extension because you don't want that getting matted. And I've also found if they are getting tangled when starting to brush after the shower likelihood is you need to do a good hair mask. I love a detangling spray as well to help me work through the hair ❤️ HOPE YOU LOVE THEM! You've got this!
@@AmandaWeldon Thank you so much! Yes I absolutely LOVE them!! Im using Ouai leave in conditioner which seems to be doing the job. Hair mask I’m using Olaplex plus the Olaplex oil for afterwards. But thank you for the video - it did help me!
