Ohhh fabulous! I’m illustrating a cover this week for a children’s book illustration class. The story is set at night in a forest and I’ll have the moon glowing on the cover. This will help so much, I was getting nervous about the execution of it all!
I would love to see more gouache tips, ideas and paintings. I am new to consistent art creation, and am loving gouache. Your tips were very helpful to clean up some of the issues I am having. I'm using it with too much water and need to paint thicker. Thank you, as always, for your insight.

A workbook would have been such a big help for me, as gouache is a challenge, but I do love it.

Hello! I am a beginner and I have a hard time controlling my brush and I often put too much pressure and it ruins my paintings. Do you have any tips how to practice brush control?
I've not used guouche yet but a beginner set is on the way. Something I'm confused by is whether or not guouche is able to be layered. Like obviously you just did it, but how do you not reactive the layer underneath?
Hey Heather! Yes- absolutely gouache can be layered! It takes a little practice to get used to layering without reactivating the layer underneath, but letting the paint dry fully between the layers helps hugely! The more you paint, the easier it gets! Happy painting! 💕
I just can’t wait for this magical tutorial of yours to try😍✨.. Why does my first dried layer of gouache comes off paper when i apply second wet layer on it and eventually paper started showing☹️
You might be using a little too much water in your second layer- also, try to apply the paint of the second layer in as few brush strokes as possible to avoid moving the paint underneath! 💕
This is lovely! I just purchased your Domestika class. Do you let each layer dry completely before adding anything else? I think this is my biggest challenge with gouache; I tend to want to work wet on wet and it just doesn't work. I keep ending up with a mess. :D I suppose I need more patience.
