they deserve to be appreciated and viewed by far more listeners all around the world, in the age of RU-vid when everybody can easily access and find the real, great, but long time underrated artists.
ANY of Dredg is amazing. Not only are they great recorded, but live they are still amazing. It's really hard to find a band that still sings perfectly live! Kudos to many years of great music and energy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
so, I heard my friends mentioning these guys in passing and never bothered to look them up until now. I have been missing out. God damn. I'm almost in tears. This is unbelievable.
@@elfsieben1450 I gotta say I still love Catch Without Arms, but they've all grown on me in the nine years since I posted this comment (just razzin' you a bit ;) )
the drummer is too talented. he plays the piano and drums at their live shows too. this band has so much talent. every one of their albums is always different but almost always good.
man i remember when these guys were just a local band and now they are huge from where they came. just stoked everyone can enjoy the music all over the world now.
"One of the best bands ever" ..... (7 years ago). And that last comment by @Mangzorz is years after Dredgs last album. Musicians don't care about 'new' music anymore. It's like a chore. 'I'll get to it when I get to it.' 'Screw the fans. We do it for us.'
@Bullion4 dredg is awesome live :D. Best experience ever. Their stage presence was fitting for the music. Mellow, methodical, harmonious. Just movements when needed.
It’ s Samantha signed in as Kurt-but I have to say you take my breath away. I had no idea who you had become-or how talented of a singer. Who knew what was inside.
Of almost all of the modern bands I've listened to, Dredg is the least afraid to take steps in completely new directions with each album, while still retaining the contemplative and emotional tone that they started all the way back with Kayasuma and Is Not Everything. Yeah, I'll admit that they are not as heavy or ambitious as they once were, but try and find another band with albums like Lietmotif, El Cielo and Pariah in the same catalogue. I have yet to hear a song of theirs I dislike.
@crazyfool619 well thanks, its just some times people get all butt hurt and say things like they sold out or people dont even know the real dredg. well i say Look into them and enjoy it as much as possible.
@Dontblink4206 Lietmotif is their masterpiece. While they have yet to really meet its quality as a cohesive concept album, I don't think that should discount their more recent stuff. El Cielo through now are all fantastic albums.
Haha El Cielo is the pinnacle ("of broken bridges and chest pressure") Altho Lietmotif is great. It cannot stand up to El Cielo. Then again of of my best friends fav is Catch Without Arms....so go figure...
@TheProgNerd to play at a place like dodger stadium you need to be signed to a gigantic major label, which is something that they don't want, i'm sure.
@spunkylovechild I agree with you. I think Thrice and The Dear Hunter are contenders to another band like Dredg. Also, Between the Buried and Me isn't afraid to change direction, either. BTBAM changes from Silent Circus to Alaska to Colors then to The Great Misdirect. They have amazing songs you just have to appreciate the "beautiful noise" that comes before the softer portion of the song. Check out Mordecai if you get a chance. : )
You should check out the band Aliases "Derangeable" also amazing. I love all those you mentioned some of my favorite bands. So I would say you will love...
@sanchezsick1 most definitely. i come on youtube and watch dredg videos and the people that act all high any mighty about being dredg fans makes me sick. they're an amazing band, no doubt. but just because your a fan doesn't make you as awesome as them.
it doesn't have that irritating interlude that sounds like they crammed another song that happens to be in the same key and the same tempo smack dab in the middle of it. don't get me wrong, i love this tune!
I must agree with you but for the different reasons. It's not only the arrangement that has been changed but also the mixing/mastering is completely different. If you listen to the stereo image of this version and the album version, the former is much wider, and more airy so to speak. I would love to have this version on vinyl.
@ZombieAutopilot0 Yeah, I am so sorry...I can't believe they would be treated like that :( :( Then again, not many people are open-minded enough to try and appreciate TRUE art and feelings like we can.:)
who the fuck cares about mainstream! my fucking god! why does everybody always have to say if they go mainstream or somethig! god dam it! its their living maybe they need more money or something, but either way who gives a fuck MUSIC IS MUSIC underground mainstream or if you play in your garage. just let it be, and listen. ENJOY!
I love this song... but my only complaint is this: It feels like they're trying to hard to sound like their second album, El Cielo. Which is okay and all, I suppose, but... I don't know. This album just doesn't feel the same. Good songs, but it's got a funky feel to it. Hmm...
