Hello, I have one like it but today it has stopped working for me. Did you add the resistance because the rpm regulator did not work or because it stopped working? Thank you.
This resistor is placed when there is no slow speed (only buzzing) and starts abruptly at high speed after the second half of the regulator. You may have a broken stator winding (a common problem) or something like that.
Can you describe the failure mode? If I understand correctly the device suffers to operate at the lower speed range is that right??? Mine has that issue: it starts working only above position 4, below that it seems that it doesn´t have enough power. Thanks!!!
That's right, the problem was, that the dremel didn't running from 0 to the middle position of the potentiometer (it just buzzed). From the middle position to the high it turned on abruptly and worked almost at maximum speed. With the addition of this resistor, the initial value of the worn potentiometer is returned and the low speed begins to be regulated normally, as when the dremel was new. (this does not solve the problem of low torque at low revs, this is a problem of all new and old dremels)
So, you mentioned that the added parallel resistor was ~ 1.8M - to 2.2M. Does that mean tha you added two ~4M in parallel so that tje total value is 2M?
Hola. Muy buen trabajo. Pero no logro distinguir el valor de la resistencia. Podrías indicarl el valor de la resistencia por favor, muchas gracias por tu excelente aporte
The value of the resistor depends on the degree of wear of the potentiometer. In my case the resistor is 2 MOhm (1.8 - 2.2 MOhm, size 1206). I have put two in parallel to get the required value.
You are amazing, do you know if i can replace the entire speed control on my dremel 300 , using one from the Dremel 3000 ? they look very similar ... Thanks for your video ..
I have no idea, but theoretically, if there is no difference in the pins it should be. Dremel 300 is 125W, Dremel 3000 is 130W - almost the same power. I say again, I'm not sure.
@@AL-41F1 Thanks you already helped , I was not sure about the power output but you told me one is 125 W and the other 130 W, and seems very close to me... As far as connectors , pins and size, they are exactly the same ( but the top blue switch on the 3000 seem a bit wider ) and the price, the 300's costs 3 times more than the 3000's here in Brazil ... you already helped me a lot ,, I will try and let you how it turns out ... Cheers !
