Super helpful. Now I can use these Ryobi blades set I bought at a bargain. 👍🏽

Bought one for $5 at a pawn shop and put a dremel blade on it but for some odd reason i see it loosens up while using it for more than 10 seconds you think this may fix tightening screw from loosening

This procedure will only keep a non-Dremel blade from falling off. If the blade is getting loose at the bottom, then a washer would provide clamping on a larger area. If the tightening knob is getting loose that quick, then the previous owner possibly stripped something from over tightening. Mine has never become loose.

Have you ever not been able to remove the lock/unlock dial? I accidentally over tightened it and tried to remove it so that I could loosen the blade and remove pressure on the spring. Can you please help? Thank you.

Interesting Cheryl, I've never run into that problem. You certainly can't apply heat because it's mostly plastic. Possibly thermal cycle it in the other direction by placing it in the freezer for several hours. It might cause enough contraction to work it loose? I wish I could be more help. Good luck.

Does this still work with the sander attachment?

Oliver, I pulled out my Dremel brand triangle sander attachment to check. It will work fine. The sanding pad opening measures about .75 and the washer is .625. So, you will want to use a 5/8 washer for best results. Thanks for the question.

What is the tool you use to pry off the blue button in the first step? Nothing is working for me to get the button off. Thanks.

I used a small screwdriver, like a jewelers screwdriver. The cap has a few tabs that you have to work free. Fortunately, it's just a dust cover, so you won't break the tool by being a little forceful. Good luck!

what is the size of the washer?
@callmemike6171

5/8 OD washer works perfect. It will still sit inside the splines and hold the blade solid.

Maybe a dab of epoxy on the post and the washer won't "float"?

Thanks for sharing your idea! I initially gave a lot of thought how to "fix" the washer permanent. But, I think floating actually helps it to lock on the blade.

Can this be done on a 43oo?
@callmemike6171
@callmemike6171 Год назад
43oo? 4300 is a rotary tool, so this would not apply. Multi-Max MM20V, MM35, and MM50 all use the tool-less blade mounting system, so the same procedure would apply.

but buyer shouldn't have to fix THEIR tool.

It's common for manufacturers to leverage us into reinvesting in their brand. Wouldn't it be nice if cordless power tool batteries were universal? This is just a simple hack to save money. The tool itself has served me well. Thanks for the comment!
