I had 3-2 Strickland. Takedowns that do nothing shouldn’t take priority over significant strikes. But I knew it was a toss-up, you never know with judges. Sad to see Sean lose and I think they should run it back before Izzy gets another chance.
I've never seen any champ loose to a contender who did less damage and got hit many more times than the champ. Takedown points weren't nothing without damage. Driscus didn't do much to Strickland. Look at driscus face now

@@PoopythePlumber Without a doubt boxing is a crucial skill, Strickland is good at it but he needs to mix it up to create opportunities for clean striking by threatening a takedown of which he has some wrestling in him. Jabs have always been a good tool for example the likes of Usman have used a lot of jabs to win fights.
Wild comment. Strickland didn''t allow him to advance one position with a takedown or land a ground strike. He stuffed 45% of the takedowns. He checked the majority of the kicks they give him credit for but to you, he's just a boxer. No. All it took to make Dricus look like putty was a simple jab. He couldn't slip it. He chose to walk right through it. He got turned into mince meat and gifted a decision. He got outclassed and Izzy will make it look easy in Africa.
@willharris5653 everyone did not lol this is a close fight that could've gone either way. But the majority where it matters (the judges) gave it to ddp. Joe and Dana thought sean won. But Sean O'Malley and mighty mouse thought ddp won. Again, close fight but it def was not a clear win for Sean. Sean lost imo because ddp controlled, pressured, was the agressor, the entire fight. At least izzy being a counter fighter play by points (by utilizing kicks, etc.). Sean literally just waited to throw a counter jab.

Like the Strickland/Adesanya fight, the room mostly goes with what Rogan thinks the score is. He dominates the room, and everyone else agrees, which is why 4 different guys always have the same scorecard in these podcasts. In the Adesanya fight, all of them were convinced Sean won rd2, which was universally scored for Adesanya.

Those takedowns in RD 2 doesn't mean shit since he didn't do anything with it. Take Yan vs O'Malley for example. Same exact judges but O'Malley was on the ground more than Strickland was and it didn't count for shit. In the 2nd Strickland also checked every leg kick.

@@zzzz1192 i will agree on that , but as you see how strickland was looking compaired to ddp , it made a huge diffrence , punches doesnt just count, the damage of each effect massively ddp barely bleed and strickland bleed alot . I give massive repspect to both even if ddp lost , you cannot lie that fight was amazing both tanks landing blow for blow , stricklands jab was ABSOLUTE AMAZING , Ddp destructive and versitile moveset is also off the charts , only concern was that ddp gets tired each takedown , ddp controlled well in r2 and above . R5 was just a bloodbath. All in all this is my most fav fight in history.

DDP got rounds 2,3 and 4. He got 7 takedowns, landed more leg/body kicks was also had more clinch control plus that massive cut onStrickland. Close fight but no robbery!
Well it was a super close fight, could have gone either way and calling it a robbery would have been dumb in both cases. Myself I was rather rooting for Strickland, but because of takedowns I was guessing DDP might have a slight advantage on the scorecards. Either way, great fight, hope they run it back sometime

I see so many people giving drives the 2nd. But I don’t see any way how he coulda won that. Sean was connected more with clean shots while parrying and checking majority of shots. Dricus took him down but it was only 19 seconds. He did nothing with it

Maybe look the fight again and pay attention to how many of Sean's punches (and yes he threw a lot more punches) landed on DDP's gloves or just missed...and also look out to many punches of DDP that looked like he missed he actually did make contact, and he did land more forceful punches. There was 2 moments before they actually stepped into the ring, that I thought showed that Sean didn't believe he was gonna win this fight. Watch his eyes and facial expression at the official weigh-in when up close with DDP...and again just before and after he entered the octagon...just something I noticed
